Starting March 15, Second Style Island will have a daily gift giveaway for group members! Several of the island vendors are participating to give a gift to all the members of the Second Style Island group. It’s going to be super simple, all you have to do is join the group in world (search Second Style Island), tp to the island daily while wearing your tag and pick up your gift! Each item will be out for 24 hours and each day it will be from a different store!

How awesome and easy is that?!

How long will it last? It depends on how many designers sign up to give a gift..so far it seems we have over 12 stores signed up and more joining daily!! Which stores? You won’ t know until the day before the gift is given..you will have to come right here to see what the blog says! Yah for surprises!!

If you read my post a couple weeks back about the Impressione Weekend of Beauty, then you would remember that I was a contestant in the Natural Beauty competition. I am pleased to announce that I placed 2nd! Mavi Beck was #1 and Adriana Princess came in 3rd.

The Weekend of Beauty was an amazing 72-hour event which celebrated health and beauty in all its shapes and sizes. The weekend’s events included music, art, and fashion and displayed the amazing diversity that makes our world so rich and special.

Each of us were asked to present 2 looks for our runway competition. The first being an “SL Look”…how we normally dress/look in SL, an the second a “RL Look”…what we feel about ourselves in RL. It was so neat to see the difference, or similarities in all of the girls.

It was a pleasure and an honor to work with so many beautiful girls, and to help raise awareness for NEDA at the same time. We are all beautiful!

Impressione Brings the Excitement of Milan’s Fashion Week to Second Life and Raises Awareness for Healthy Living with the “Weekend of Beauty”The WoB events begin on Friday, September 26th, 2008 and conclude on Sunday, September 28th, 2008. This 72-hour event runs concurrently with Milan Fashion Week and and to benefit a good cause, The National Eating Disorder Foundation. The event focuses on health and beauty in all shapes and sizes all over the world, as well as celebrating diversity in fashion, art, and music.

“It is all too easy to become trapped into preconceived notions of beauty, which threatens to harm the self-image, and can even result in dangerous, destructive, and extreme behaviors.” says JennyH GossipGirl of Impressione who adds, “An important mission of the Impressione Weekend of Beauty is to promote a healthy lifestyle and raise awareness of at-risk behaviors — eating disorders in particular.”

In the spirit of Milan Fashion Week, there are two runway shows and a sim-wide treasure hunt. The first show, World Beauty will be on Saturday at 12 noon. World Beauty presents a look at what beauty means throughout different cultures all over the planet. Models will represent the people of this world in all their wonderful shapes, sizes, colors and clothing traditions.

The second show, Natural Beauty, is a competition amongst the finalists in their second round. Impressione seeks to celebrate and showcase this diversity through the competition. The winner will receive over 25,000L in cash and other valuable prizes. Contestants will be judged by a celebrity panel for both their SL/RL styles and their personal statements of what Natural Beauty means to them. Natural Beauty will be on Sunday at 3pm.

WoB will include onsite vendors for purchasing the runway items featured in our World Beauty show, info/donation kiosks for NEDA, a variety of live and streamed music by SL djs and musicians, an art show, treasure hunt and plenty of places to wander and enjoy the view.

Orange Island and Prim Perfect Publications are sponsoring an innovative competition for teams of photographers, fashion designers and models throughout the week starting 25 August, 2008. Participants will have the chance to express their creative genius and demonstrate their originality and innovation as new themes and environments provide the focus for each day’s shooting. An impartial panel of judges will determine the winners.

As well as prizes for the winners of each daily competition, an overall Grand Prix will be awarded to the best picture of the week, as well as a “Most Consistent” award given to a team that has entered every day of the competition and has displayed consistent excellence.

Time to flex those Photoshop muscles again, girls! I’ve got fun news from the Flickr front! Annyka Bekkers of Blowpop skins is expanding her store, and holding a contest to find store posters. Prize winners will have their photos displayed in store. Annyka is also offering cash prizes for first place, and four runners-up.

After seeing several breathtaking shots popping up in my Flickr contacts, I decided to check out Blowpop skins. On top of being very fairly priced at L$950, they are beautifully detailed. Each pack contains 4 skin options: 2 brow colors, freckles or no freckles. (Also, 2 pubic hair options on an underpants layer.)

What a fun week of events! Indyra Originals had a huge party to celebrate all the people who entered their model search. Over 200 girls applied. After making a call to Linden Labs to allow more people into the sim, the club was packed with nearly a hundred of SL’s most beautiful avatars. About a hundred others could not get in, however. DJ Kromus Korobase was spinning the best electro/trance/house and keeping the party going. Stay tuned, on July 14 they should announce the big winner!

The Best of Italian is also holding a model search. Every entrant has a chance to walk the runway and show their stuff to the judges. The contestants are placed in weekly groups and are given 2 outfits made by Sissy Pessoa of Baiastice. Annemarie Parenti, the owner of The Best of Italian and Piazza Italia introduces each model for the judges and the onlookers. After the show, the models’ photographs are on display for public voting in the mall. Their runway performance count as 50% of their score, and public voting is the other half. The top 4 contestants will move on to the finals. Each Wednesday is another show. Please come down to support these girls in this exciting time!

JCNY revealed their first round of MODEL’FEST contestants on Thursday. Each month, JCNY has a huge competition with tons of great prizes. The models chosen are allowed onto the JCNY runway for one week. Runway managers are available (I am one of them!) to assist the models with any issues they may have, as well as keep all the guests happy and safe. Come on down and get a note card with contest details, and to see the lovely people on the stage. August 1 will be the big announcement of the grand prize winner, and one runner up.

Sissy Pessoa of Baiastice had the grand opening of her new sim on Thursday. Events included dancing with great music from Baiastice face 2008 Giela Delpaso, and a gift hunt with amazing gifts from some of the vendors around the sim. New stores include: J&J Skin – Pupa Evolution, Behavior Body – Poses & Animations, Stiletto Moody Shoes, Artransfer Gallery, and RR Shapes (inside J&J). The gift hunt is going until July 16. There are 20 gifts to find with amazing items inside!! Dresses, tops, skirts, pants, purses, hats, skins, poses and swimwear. I have included a couple pics to wet your palate. Ellie’s is a clothing store ran by a husband and wife team, EllieMae Wycliffe & SirGeorge Schuttelanz. Not only do they offer cute, stylish clothing at great prices, but they also keep a variety of exciting happenings for the shoppers.

From now until July 30th, they are having a “Christmas in July” hunt. Eleven gifts are located inside the store, and 4 outside in the mall area. Each gift contains a preview of outfits coming to the store soon!

On Friday, the 11th, at 7:30pm SLT, George’s Fine Fashions for Men will have its debut. I cannot wait to see the new, affordable styles they have in store for all the guys out there!

Finally, this Sunday at 7pm SLT is the premiere of MY OUTFIT, Rhi! How did I get an outfit you ask? Well, one of the fun events they host is a monthly model search. I had the extreme pleasure of winning last month! Part of my prize was having an outfit designed for and named after me! I look forward to seeing you all there.
