Sexy Second Cover

Click the magazine’s cover (or, click here ) to read the latest issue of SexySecond over at Issuu.com.

This issue was especially fun to do, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed putting it together. There is a wonderful interview with Rachel Breaker by Marleen Vaughan and an incredible guide and photo spread on retro fashion by Stella Stapleton. Second Style’s own Justine Babii also returns with her popular Second Street feature, which shows us what people actually wear in Second Life!

In addition to all the great articles, I hope you’ll take a look at the ads as well as a couple of our advertisers have snuck in special deals and offers available only to Sexy Second readers!

I’d love to hear what you think!

Enjoy!

mannon__s_pink_lace_myra_skin_004_copy.jpg If you’ve been reading SexySecond lately then you already know about Stella Stapleton’s awesome photography. This week she reviewed some lingerie and the skins you see here, both from Mannon’s.

Stella came to us through a photography challenge for the last issue of our magazine. We are just now starting our sexysecond second photography challenge to be part of our third issue. If you would like to have a hand in picking the next 50 sexiest outfits in Second Life, dust off your camera and send in your pics!

Analise_006_copy.jpg In the last week or so Stella took a look at some lingerie by AmyEmily, and I pointed to some nice freebie skins from Rosemar. I also took a look at some gorgeous silks from Analise. The set to the left, Carmina, is my favorite, coming as it does with a number of combinations of layers and accessories, each richly textured and yummy.

Carmina is not “new” but it’s new to me- it had gotten lost in the vastness and messiness of my inventory. When I found the folder with Carmina in it, I also found a few more things that may have slipped past my filing clerk, so we’ll be having a neo-vintage show on the blog this week.

Till then!

THeFifty_2Web.jpg Well, the biggest thing from this week is the publication of the second issue of our magazine!!! I’m still giddy from finishing it and am now hoping you like it as much as I do! You can read more about the publication here at the SexySecond blog or you can click here and go straight to the download page. The magazine has some great articles, including the “exposure” of Second Style’s own Haver Cole by Marleen Vaughan!

Early in the week, before the magazine set in in earnest, I blogged a few wonderful things I hope you’ll come and take a look at. First I had some silks from The Lair that I really like, and then a set of silks silks from Stygian you’ll want to see if you’re looking for wonderfully made silks that are fitting for a queen, goddess, amazon or other substantial personage. I also found a cute little Valentine set from SLAB called Quepid and I’m hoping to get some more Valentine things up in the next day or so.

redheaddressmika.jpg I was absolutely thrilled to see Lisbeth DeCuir drop by to review Designs By Mika. At first I was just happy to see her, then I saw the store and selections she was reviewing and I was really happy to see her. Vintage stuff is such a weakness of mine, and the feathered headdresses (and the prices!) Libeth found at Designs by Mika look to be fantastic. Couple them with the cigarette in the long elegant holder she showed off for a good time that is verrrry old school, maybe even pre- old school. (Smoking’s not bad for avatars is it?)

Arabeth is again out and about and finding great new shops for us to try. One of them, Jarnia Underground is so good she even gave it the “bargain” stamp. She also took a look at Hexed, which is one of my favorite stores.

070208CSlatex.jpg Very early in the week, Arabeth reviewed some outfits from Crimson Shadow which is a great store of which I’ve been a fan for a while, but which may be new to some of you. Arabeth showed off three very different outfits you’ll have to come take a look at, and gave the place a solid thumbs up. (Ooooh, and if you come over in a day or two I’ll have some rather unusual accessories from them to show off as well!)

All in all it was a fantastic week at SexySecond. I do hope you’ll stop by and get a copy of our magazine, and I’d love to hear your thoughts about it!

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone, and we’ll see you next week!.

Raniis_040.jpg This week at SexySecond we started our quarterly scurry phase in getting the magazine out, and this resulting picture of one of the outfits we’ll feature seemed like a nice thing to share. The outfit is Goddess from Solange and it will easily make our Top 50 Sexy things list.

In addition to photoshooting and proof reading for the magazine, I did manage to get out for some fun and wore the new tanline skins by SLippery.

I also gloated a bit about how right I was in gawking at the work Simone Stern did with her new sim full of clothes by showing off an incredible bit of texturing with her Wrapped Shirt Dress, which is my new love, and a couple of short and sexy dresses you simply have to see.

Stygian_0.jpg

Next up, and helping to make it a very good week for me, was discovering the Huntress outfit from Stygian. It is 100% prim and you wouldn’t believe some of the textures. I’m a fan of the Panther Grrl look and this very reasonably priced feather and leather look works very well. Best part was that for me, it needed almost no adjustment out of the box.

If you’re a fan of silks and things like Huntress, do be sure to stop by and see our blog in the next few days as I have several outfits I’ve looked at and haven’t had a chance to blog. I hope to get them off my virtual desk (and into my virtual dresser) in the next few days so check in for some fantastic outfits (and an interesting accessory!)

020208SFDcoq.jpg Arabeth reviewed Petite Coquine from SFD, which makes SL versions of RL lingerie in concert with RL designer Elle of Heavenly Corsets. The set gets Arabeth’s seal of approval, and got a double take from me when I read that it’s only L$200. I also love the shoes, which Arabeth says come from Shiny Things.

Next week is Valentine’s Day…come see what you might wear!

Simone_006.jpg Hi Fashionistas! Greetings from your friends at SexySecond.

This week will be just a quick update because we’re all terribly busy on the new issue of SexySecond Magazine. We had a lot of response to our “tell us what’s sexy” contest and, along with some new features, should have a great read for you rolling out as we near Valentine’s Day.

But before then, so many things! On the First of February, for example, Simone Stern’s new line, Style Starts Here, opens. All week long I teased out just a couple of things at a time, wait till you see the whole collection of things that Simone will unveil, it truly is amazing. To see the items I previewed, come on over to visit us. The two gorgeous sets you see above are reviewed here, and another couple of sets are reviewed here.

SLipperymakeups.jpg Arabeth Laval did one of the most thorough skin reviews I’ve ever read, reviewing the new line of skins from newcomer Joan Philbin of SLippery. I don’t know which impresses me more, Joan’s skins or Arabeth’s ability to find new and talented designers! I’ve completely fallen for SLippery’s tanlines release, and will hopefully find a minute to review them soon. I was thrilled to find good skins with good tanlines for a day at the beach, and to find them for only L$250-300 a skin is like a virtual dream come true.

Nemi McCoy stopped by this week to show off a new and very sexy outfit by Indyra Patriots_Cheer.jpgSeigo that you’ll have to see to believe. I took off my new duds from Simone long enough to review a couple of cute sweater outfits from Gracie’s, and Justine Babii stopped by long enough to tell us about a contest being run by Scarlett Niven and about a hot selection of pro cheerleader outfits from Spirit.

The next couple of weeks will be crazy at SexySecond as we put our magazine machine into high gear and get ready for Valentine’s Day all at the same time. It’s always a pleasure to be able to visit here, take care and we’ll see you next week!

Heart_lingerie.jpg This week we welcomed a new writer to our staff, Lisbeth DeCuir, and Lisbeth immediately stole the show by reviewing this gorgeous little heart themed lingerie set from Simone, as well as a burlesque stage outfit from Reasonable Desires. Lisbeth’s passion is for vintage designs and she has already wowed our readers with her impeccable taste and her ability to write, so we’re thrilled to have her on our team and look forward to the many vintage goodies she will find for us around the metaverse! The heart themed lingerie from Simone, shown left, retails for just L$150 and looks perfect for Valentine’s day. I do hope you’ll come by and read more about it, as well as the review Lisbeth did for us on the French Black Swirl stage costume by Reasonable Desires. With her interest in burlesque costumes and vintage lingerie, I have found myself already looking forward to what she’ll find next!

190108Nymphdemhotbtch.jpg Arabeth Laval reviewed some very interesting pieces this week. It’s always a pleasure to see Arabeth with something new from Nymphetamine because she clearly enjoys examining the details drawn by Paeoti Pomeray and then stepping back and enjoying the piece in its entirety. The new set Arabeth reviewed this week, shown left, is not named well for a PG blog, so you’ll have to come take a look at SexySecond to see the review. Come over and see another couple of things Arabeth reviewed as well from Zipz!. Lunar and Red Fire are the outfits and after seeing them I just had to go and take a look at Zipz! for myself. Arabeth has a knack for finding great designers just before they go big time on us, and I think that Dunja Hian of Zipz is another.

style_starts_here.jpg This week even I got into the reviewing spirit and showed off some nice underwear from Lingerie by Hollee and at the same time gave a long rant about the importance of having some nice undies in a handy folder. I also gave a sneak peek at some lingerie that will be coming from Simone Stern’s huge new project (picture left). I have a couple of more of her as yet unreleased lingerie, which I must add will be perfect for Valentine’s Day, that I will be showing off this week.

Finally, we are accepting advertisements for the Second Issue of our magazine. If you would like to advertise your Second Life Product, please feel free to contact me!

140107Insolence.jpg This week over at SexySecond we took a look at some lingerie from Insolence, some skirts from Fashionity Fantasy and Lavish Style, a vintage dress from Ivalde with a headress from Chapeau Tres Mignon, some boots from Biddles and a burlesque costume from Spirit.

I’m rushing through these this week because as I was logging in I saw lots of good fresh things to read on Second Style and have decided to be naughty and toss my laborious notes for this week’s post, give you the quick version of what we did, and go read Celebrity’s article about her favorite gadgets.

Before I do, though, I hope you’ll come over to SexySecond and visit a bit this week because we will be introducing at least one new writer and I have a post coming up in the next day or so for people interested in advertising in the second issue of our magazine. Also, don’t forget our contest, you can have a hand in picking the sexiest items in Second Life and get yourself immortalized in our pages! See you next week.

Stellar_Designs4.jpg It would take me hundreds and hundreds of words to describe all of the incredible things blogged at SexySecond this week, so I only hope to hit the highlights and tempt you with a few pictures.

Fannie Carter stopped by and blogged many, many things, including this minidress from Stellar Designs called Vinyl Vamp. This was actually part of the second post this week that Fannie did of things from Stellar Designs, her first post about them featured short skirts exclusively, while the second post included more variety.

Doing multiple posts on one store was a theme this week, as Fannie did two posts on Dark Eden as well. One post covered a fantastic fantasy set and the second post covered a variety of things from them. If you get a chance, do check Fannie’s posts as she found some unique and gorgeous things at Dark Eden, including some boots that I must have.

060108Kittieslairvenice.jpg Speaking of boots, Arabeth Laval and Fannie teamed up to blog the very hot store Kitties Lair. While Fannie covered the shiny and sexy outfits that have been hitting the blogs all week, Arabeth covered a wonderful little cocktail dress and the boots you see here, which I have been drooling over ever since.

Arabeth also reviewed an incredible latex bodysuit from DE Designs’ new line called Project X. The bodysuit is named Grendel and I can tell you that it’s every bit the killer that the ancient epic monster it’s named for ever was. Arabeth also introduced me to a new store, Fireflies. In Arabeth’s words “Everything is definitely sexy. Everything is priced at either $1L, $5L or $100L.” Sold!

nemsfyre_001.JPG Nemi McCoy stopped by to review a new release from Rfyre called Drifter. Nemi reported that the Goth reputation of Rfyre intimidated her a bit but was totally won over by the detailed and versatile design.

Don’t forget to look into our contest; if you have something sexy in your wardrobe or store, or want to show off your photography skills, we’d love to feature you in the second edition of The Fifty Sexiest Things in Second Life!. Details on the contest are here. Thank you for reading, and we’ll see you next week!

EmilieWatkins2.jpg Howdy Podners, Cowgirl Jaime here with this week’s SexySecond Roundup, and as you can see in the picture, I even wore my spurs and chaps. Actually it’s a picture from a review I did of some equestrian clothing by Emilie Watkins that made for some fun this week, but hey, at least I tried to keep to the roundup theme.

It was a great week over at our blog because we finally announced a contest we’re having for the next issue of our magazine. We would like you to help pick the 50 outfits we’ll feature and then have you model them! It’s easy to enter and you can enter as many times as you’d like. Read my blog post about it for all the details.

As for the clothes we reviewed this week, I swear I have the best job in Second Life because of all the wonderful things out there to look at. In addition to the clothes by Emilie Watkins I found three great outfits from toXic Boutique.

dbs_heart.jpg Celebrity Trollop surprised and delighted us by stopping by to show off the stunning work of ShyOne Lehane from DBS Heart. Shown left, the outfit, Scandal, looks fabulous as do the boots, called Ophelia. Most remarkable is that even the skin in the picture is by Lehane, making this a gorgeous one stop shopping experience! It is always a pleasure to see Celebrity and even more of a pleasure to see Celebrity wearing outfits like this.

Nemi McCoy also stopped by to show off some wonderful lingerie by Alaska Metropolitan of Opium. The lingerie is part of Alaska’s Le Burlesque line, and looks to be another great design I’ll have to go get. I should add that Nemi, who is one of Second Life’s more seasoned avatars and most decorated models, looks especially stunning in the Le Burlesque shots. I hope someday she shares her beauty secrets with us!

010108PxlAntihero1.jpg Finally, the ever talented Arabeth Laval reviewed a couple of very nice things- the Antihero from Pixeldolls being one of them. Suffice it to say she likes the outfit, a lot. Ok, suffice it to say we all do, and you will too. Arabeth also introduced us to another new store, Lookr, and their designs, specifically a cardigan and chinos set named Vixen.

Ok, I promise I won’t be this chatty for all of 2008, but as I’ve been rushed for my last few roundups it was nice to be able to babble a bit. Thank you for indulging me, come on over and visit us at SexySecond, (don’t forget to look into our contest!) and I’ll see you again here next week!

sensual_designs_Aspen.jpg We at SexySecond took a couple of days off for the holidays and are just now getting back to speed, clearing the eggnog cobwebs and feeling our way back into the blogosphere. Remind me to either never get drink ideas from Celebrity Trollop again or to clear my whole calendar for the next day after serving them. Loved the Peppermint Martinis, a little too much I’m afraid.

Just before Christmas I blogged the lovely sweater and pants you see to the left. It’s called Aspen and was made by Sensual Casanova of Sensual Designs. While most of the things we blog at SexySecond are more latex and silk and less wool, I find that anything well made can be sexy, and I find Sensual Designs’ clothing to be especially, well, sensual, and priced at only L$175, Aspen makes me positively giddy.

221207AMDWarrior.jpg Arabeth Laval blogged some incredible things this week, including the outfit you see to the left, Warrior by Apple May Designs. She also found, in what may be my favorite post of 2007, a can of whipped cream you can use for, well, let’s just say it can have a lot of uses, from Szentasha.

In addition to the posts already mentioned, we featured some great lingerie from Oh What a Neat Boutique, Nanogunk, and some more latex from Kayliwulf.

Come on over and take a look at SexySecond when you get a chance. This week we have a lot of new things to review and an exciting contest for our second magazine issue I’ll be announcing as we get closer to the New Year!

rfyre_boots.jpgrfyre.JPG Just in terms of the sheer number of things they reviewed, I think that this may have been the busiest week in SexySecond’s relatively short history. I’m always proud of our blogging team, but this week they outdid themselves. As I can’t possibly do justice to the wonderful things they reviewed here, I’m planning on hitting some highlights and hope that you get over there to take a look at some of these items as well as all the others!

BareRose2.jpgNemi McCoy showed off a couple of brand new items, including some lace corsets from the very talented Popfuzz Bamboo, as well as the outfit you see above which is from Rfyre.Yes she says, the boots ARE included with the outfit.

Graciana McMillan made her SexySecond blogging debut this week and showed she really understands sexy with the fantastic outfit you see at left from Bare Rose. She also brought out a body suit by Nicky Ree that turned heads. We’re thrilled to have her on our team!

141207Nanogunkdetail.jpg181207Solangeobsessionblk.jpg Arabeth Laval reviewed a number of wonderful things, including the Gals Zipper Jacket and Chaps from Nanogunk (far left) and the lingerie set Obsession from Solange on the right. She also reviewed some clothing from Casa del Shai, Sintimacy, Hi Standard and some skins from Skin Within. I think it might have been the biggest week in our history just from Arabeth’s fantastic work alone! (It even inspired me to get off my virtual behind and review a set of lingerie from Shakture)

Though I worry we’ve modeled so much this week we threaten the species newclothes sexibus to the verge of extinction, I’m sure we’ll find something to show you next week, and there’s always the hope there will be nice things under the tree too.

We’ll see you here again at some point next week, but until then our continued hopes to you for a wonderful holiday season.

Kayliwulf_Kingdom_cranberry.jpg Nothing brings out the holidays in people like a good set of Cranberry Latex, and with that in mind, Justine Babii brought hers over to show us this week at SexySecond. The design is from Kayliwulf Kingdom and is called “Cranberry Sauce.” It is one of two Kayliwulf designs Justine blogged for us this week, both of which were absolutely stunning. She also took the time to show off a new shape from Slider Surgeons, though I think her real motivation in blogging this week was to get back at our resident troublemaker Fannie Carter, who just mastered the word “pwned” and used it to try and stake her claim as the SexySecond Queen of Latex.

poc_latex_blood1.jpg Fannie, meanwhile, brought out some brand new latex skirts and corsets from Powers of Creation. The skirts come in multiple lengths and though they may require a dress form as they are mesh skirts, they will help complete a look if you are out to do something a little different than the usual catsuit with latex.

I did my best to stay out of the line of fire as the friendly latex battle raged and instead blogged a couple of outfits from SK Design. Even better, Arabeth Laval restored sanity and reviewed some wonderful new silks, Shimmerina and Yasirah, from Analise, as well as an incredible gown called Silent Night from DG Innovations. I do hope you’ll come over and take a look at all of the things I don’t have room to show you here, especially Silent Night as the detail is incredible.

101207DecoyChloe.jpg Arabeth also blogged several outfits from a store that’s new to me called Decoy. In addition to a very different lingerie set called Earth Fae, she showed us two absolutely marvelous evening dresses; Alesana and Chloe, (the latter is shown to the left). I hope you’ll click the picture and look at the detail, the lace on the cinching waist band shows well in the picture and is indicative of the quality that Decoy puts into their dresses.

Next week we will continue to bring you some of the sexier fashions we find on the grid, including a couple of exclusive items we managed to wrest from designers before they’re available in stores. It is, as always, an honor to bring the news from our little blog to you here. We’ll see you again here next week and thanks for reading!
