Second Style Farewell

15

The first issue of Second Style magazine was published in April of 2006, here we are now…. April 2011. Five years is a feat for any magazine, virtual or real. We’ve been providing our audience with the latest trends in virtual clothing, accessories, furnishings, etc for as long as most Second Life users can remember. So it comes with great sadness for HeatherDawn and myself that we have to tell our faithful readers that we will be closing our doors.

I have personally been with the magazine for nearly two years now, and I have immensely enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of such a great project. The people I’ve had the opportunity to work with, the excitement of seeing each issue go to “print”, I’ve learned so much, and have grown so much through this experience. To say this goodbye is anything but heartbreaking would be a lie. I know HeatherDawn feels the same, probably for her the sentiment is doubled, or tripled because she has been with the magazine since the very beginning, and really this is her baby.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. The downturn in the Second Life economy has been difficult to combat, and our resources have become too low to maintain the magazine any longer. We’ve discussed numerous options, cutting back here or there…but it wouldn’t be fair to anyone – - our staff, our readers, or our advertisers.

We are endlessly grateful to everyone for having supported Second Style over the years, and are so proud of the integrity our magazine has maintained throughout. Over the next few weeks we will be sharing here some of our April 2011 issue, which has not, and will not be released in the “magazine format”. We hope you all enjoy seeing the stories and editorials.

Thank you again for the endless support, and an amazing 5 years.

There is so much that is awesome I’m about to show you today, that you might burst from joy. TRY to contain yourself PLEASE!

First off – the mix and match top and bottoms from PEQE let you make any color combo that suits your fancy! As you can see, I was quite tickled. I am wearing it with the KALEI release of jewelry from DONNA FLORA – who DOES have new stuff at Chic Limited, but just not THIS stuff.

I’m complicated like that.

So – 4pm, CHIC LIMITED APRIL CYCLE OPENS! YAAAAAAAAAAAY Read the rest of this entry »

Tiny Bird was mainly known for hair…but not anymore! Autumn Hykova has been a clothes making machine! Everything she releases lately is a MUST HAVE! For Fifty Linden Friday, she is about to release the Old Friend Dress and it is gorgeous. Lemme show you!

Pure love, right?  I paired the strapless dress with a blazer from mon tissu and added a belt from a pair of Coco’s pants.  Do not forget to go pick up this lovely dress on Friday!

Quick blurb about the rest of the stuff I have on. Nards of NX is one of the most lovely and genuine people I have met in SL…she is also extremely talented. I have blogged the Edith shoes before but I cannot stress enough how gorgeous they are!  Dark Mouse jewelry is a win win. Exquisite, detailed and always creative.

Truth hair. Swoon. That guy knows his stuff.

Club Wear from Mimo Couture

Once upon a time I spent a lot of time in clubs and thus had reason to have sexy dancy clothes.
I was immediately reminded of the kicky fun of a night dancing with my friends when I put on the NAOMI set from MIMO COUTURE. Read the rest of this entry »

Second Style Guest Blogger – Rosie Shark!

Rosie Shark is impossibly funny, has great fashion sense and is my crazy cat partner in crime.  Thanks for doing a post, Rosie Posie <33!

coat and skirt

It all started with these amazing boots from Anexx. However, as I put this look together, I found my inner Cake fan singing Short Skirt, Long Jacket. Ok ok, the coat could be longer for that idea to work, but I seriously love pretty much anything Machang Pichot makes. I rarely have to mess with the prims at all and everything is arranged to suggest natural movement from jackets to skirts to the tiny prim laces that keep the boots on.
The boots. I simply could not pass these up. It seems that Anexx has been busily putting out some simply fantastic shoes and the Ankle Laceup Boots are no exception! Kitschy for sure, I think they speak volumes about style and work oh-so-well for both casual and more glamorous looks.

Decorate Your House And Your Self – At Disco Deals

When I popped over to Disco Deals earlier today to go shopping, I knew I had to have the Kokeshi Dolls for my dining room. From Karizmatic they are a great doll or decoration for your home. You get a boy and a girl in the set and the set of two will only set you back $L79! Which, in my world is The Awesome.
