Tribal Prints

Look Book Seven (Fall 2010)

If you’re like me, you’re starting to get bored of the semi-predictable array of fall items flooding your favorite shops and fashion feeds.  It’s not that we don’t love a cozy, fall-colored freebie scarf or garments sprinkled in leaves, it’s just…we long to mix it up at least one day a week, right?

This week’s Look Book offering attempts to to just that.

For your consideration, fashionistas, I’d like to turn your attention to tribal prints.  Most that you’ll find at the store are pretty darn tenacious and give off an artsy/funky vibe.  They’re appearing in almost every form imaginable, from clunky accessories and sexy dresses to boxy-cut suits and tall, thick boots.

Deciding what to pair tribal prints with might seem challenging, but you really needn’t go any further than your own closet for inspiration to help you get creative with this trend.  Try pairing your tribal top with your military jacket for a nice muted/bold balance, or with a solid skirt in one of the warm autumn colors that are so easy to find in the store lately.  Tribal prints are fun to layer with solid neutrals like black or white and look perfect with your 60′s era skirts and Jackie cardigans.

As with everything else this season, take some chances, but know when to stop. In this case, you want to look like you took a walk on the wild side– not like you got lost while visiting it.
