Second Style Issue 31: Rebirth

0

Jan 2010

Here is to hoping you’ve kicked off your New Year with a great start, spending the last moments of 2009 and First of 2010 with loved ones.  We are ringing in the New Year in Style, Second Style…

The Second Style Sim; Le Zoo will shortly be undergoing a complete rebuild, a rebirth if you will.  It seems fitting with the New Year, new outlook, and all of the new faces you will see in this issue!

Our style icon this month is none other then Anya Ohmai, who has recently joined the LeLutka team to create some fresh amazing looks.  Brigitte has taken some time to sit with her and pick her brain on all things fashion related. Ana Lutetia is back with another Fresh Faces, this month featuring FuseMelon, while Gabby Panacek’s To Top It Off is takes a look at Rebirth of Color.  You won’t want to miss the pictorial this month full of skin by James Schwarz either.

We have a TON of new faces this month as well;  Clyde Saunders has joined the team to do a special piece each month on menswear through color, starting off this month with a special look at Black.  Luna Jubliee has also joined the team, to take over the Mini Guide, and she offers up some fantastic suggestions on skin wear.  In addition, we are also welcoming Tenshi Vielle, who will be dishing out some looks at SL art for us each month, starting it off with a look at sketchers.  And last but certainly not least, we have a very special piece that Winter Jefferson has given us just for our New Year’s edition, which is a MUST READ!  Welcome to everyone, whether you are staying on, or just doing a guest spot, we are so happy to have you all with us this issue!

Issue number 31, our first issue of the New Year, is all about Rebirth.  We’ve interpreted it quite a few ways, and hope you take the time to flip through, and enjoy all we have to offer this month.

Date Night:Raid His Closet

The recent release of InifinTIE shirt sets from Musashi Do gives us girls a fun tie and tailored shirt option that is as well crafted as  the styles made for boys.  It’s a real tie not a photosourced picture of a tie and it’s easily adjustable to fit your shape so it doesn’t slide into your boobs.

Everyone should know by now that if I can adjust a piece without destroying the intergrity of the piece – it’s easy. I’m totally challenged in that arena. This one took just a slight adj to account for my tall frame.  VOILA – I’m totally cute.

This shirt comes with a bare midriff or a more conservative full length option. I would’ve shown off my perfect tummy but I figure you guys see enough perfect tummies on the feeds. :)

The really sweet feature of the InifiTIE system is that you can change the color of your tie, say you change your pants or shoes etc and want to coordinate a different color, and it’s completely simple. Instead of adding a different color and then having to make any positioning adjustments like you might normally do – with these you just WEAR the color your want and VOILA – the color of what you have on changes, similar to some hair style color change huds. A HUD will pop up – confirming the change and then you just detach it. EASY!

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! TTFN!

Date Night:Modern Gypsy Style

1

The charming Micah Kanto, creator at Modern Gypsy, sent me this dress as a Christmas present solely because Cajsa told him that it was a Gidge Dress.

Ah…..she knows me too well.

Sheer pink layers of floofy goodness in an evening gown? I’m SO sold.

The only colors of the season are NOT Green and Red now LISTEN to me – you CAN still wear other colors and I am here to prove this to you.

The sash is still red, for you purists, anyway.

I chose to pair this gorgeous Rose Fascinante dress with my completely unnecessary shoes from Digit Darkes that I adore - the Marie Antoinette Roulette Heels. They are the shoes that I constantly SEEK things to match, as I adore them. They aren’t new – but like all of Digit’s shoes -they’re flawless and stand the test of time. It’s two years later and I still wear her shoes whenever I can.

I chose the gorgeous BANKS CLOSED necklace from one of my favorite jewelers – DARK MOUSE.  It’s a fun costume piece that dresses up nicely. The skin is one of my Soda Custom skins, and if you haven’t splurged on one yet – it’s a nice Christmas present TO YOU!

Where to Get It?

  • Shape – Gidge Custom Shape by Hatchy Mills
  • Skin – SODA Custom Skin – made online here
  • Hair – TRUTH – Monica in Barley
  • Eyes – POETIC COLOR - Lavender Fields
  • Jewelry – DARK MOUSE -Banks Closed in Gold

Date Night:Who You Calling Princess?

0

With the winter holiday season in full swing one thing is certain – none of us has too many gowns. NO WAY. If you think you are set, you are probably confused.  You didn’t intend to wear something more than once did you? GASP!

Tacky.

What you should probably do is feast your eyes on the gorgeous Brocade Princess from Musashi-DO and pick up at least one color for your next formal event. It comes in a variety of elegant winter hues that are perfect for formal events even past New Years.

The navy in the first photo is a perfect winter color, but this green certainly seems to fall right into place this time of year. There are also options for red and maroon as well as black that I’m not showing you today – but that are amazing nonetheless. This green I’m wearing the solid color sash vs. the brocade print.  It’s a beautiful option that lends versatility to this dress – you guys know I love options!

And now, a true story – inspired by the Teal color!

A deep rich teal is one of my favorite colors. When I was a senior in high school, I begged my mother to make my prom dress (she is a dressmaker). I ordered the patterns for Princess Diana’s wedding gown – and Cinderella’s dress from the ball. I made my mother cobble together the bodice from Diana’s gown and the skirt from Cinderella.

Let’s just say – this dress in teal in pixel format is far superior than that dress as it is not comprised of any elements not designed to go together. :)

It just might be one of the most beautiful dresses in my inventory. I’m still deciding.

Looking for builders for Le Zoo remodel.

0

The Le Zoo sim, home to the Second Style Headquarters was the brain child of Haver Cole and has been around since 2004. It has been a favorite place to hang out, enjoy the scenery, take pictures and of course… SHOPPING!

With the new year approaching, and the theme for the January issue of Second Style being “Rebirth”, what better time to give Le Zoo, which is soon to be renamed, a much needed face-lift?

I would like to open the rebuild of the Le Zoo sim to bids. Here are some the specifications:

Style: I am very open to suggestions on this point, and would like for the sim to be “different”, keeping in mind that Second Style is a fashion magazine and blog. Some things that I would like to see however are; Clean, quaint, upscale, classy, and easily navigated. I would prefer not to have all the stores look the same. However, some of the smaller stores can be replicated (using different textures) as long as they aren’t placed close to each other.

Stores to include:
Second Style Headquarters – Will be used to house past magazine issues, event center, hang out area.
Three Large Stores – Large enough for tenant to be able to use 500 prims
Eight Medium Stores – Large enough for tenant to use 250 prims
Fifteen Small Stores – Large enough for tenant to use 100 prims
Five Tiny Stores – Large enough for tenant to use 50 prims
Other Stores – A few other small faux shops like; cafe, book store, etc. (More for photo taking opportunities)

The builder should poses high quality textures and the ability to use them in a way to minimize lag. They should also be prim conscience, versed in sculpties and possibly use mega prims to reduce prim use.

Bidding will remain open until December 31. Selection will be made no later than the first week of January. Deadline for sim remodel to be complete is January 31, so any applicants should keep our time frame in mind.

Please submit your bid and pictures of examples of your previous builds to HeatherDawn Cohen at heatherdawncohen@gmail.com.

Date Night:I Got Your SPORK Right HERE!

2

GM Nikolaidis of Spork dropped his fantastic new Bourbon dress and I immediately fell in love with this color. I had an event this weekend and couldn’t wait to wear it, just as I expected, it dances JUST beautifully. That skirt can BOUNCE!

I might normally only show you the color I first fell for however after trying on the rest, I gotta tell you these colors are rich and yummy. I’m really enamored at the opalescent textures and the fantastic way he’s created this great feminine dress with fun details like optional silver or gold belt buckle.

The silver detailing at the bodice was a great match up for the new Twisted Jewelry from DARK MOUSE.

Is Dark Mouse a metaphor? Anyway I digress……

With the rainbow of colors there is sure to be a win for everyone. Also a great detail of this dress is that the glitch pants ARE pants -you can pop off the skirt and wear it as pants. They come with cuffs at the knee. I also think that would make the dress a hot look with boots – but I didn’t style it that way because I was busy being girly.

I’m also wearing the unparalled JESSE from BELLEZA.

Tricky Boucher is truly a genius and this skin has remarkable plays of light on the body, it’s very realistic and just delicious.

I think the face speaks for itself. I want to jump my own bones, that’s how gorgeous this face is. Lord……..I sound like Winter. :)

Check out JESSE from Belleza. It’s worth every penny.
