Narwal, My Way.

0

Everyone is bubbling over with compliments and adoration for Manatee McMillan’s new shop– and rightly so!  I managed to maintain some shreds of self-control when I visited and filled my arms with items, but I don’t suspect that will be the case next time I trod through the doors. With such cheery, playful items, why on earth would you want to resist anyway?

Here’s a few polaroids that offer you my take on the ‘Stop Slouching’ top.

Cheers, Brig.

A Shocking Confession

0

This admittance could surely be the demise of what’s left of my virtual reputation.

Since my first day in-world, I’ve never once had a shape other than the one graciously bestowed upon me by LL at my birth.  Never.  Not even once.

Sure, I’ve played with and adjusted that shape– made it my own over time– but I’ve never been keen on adopting another.  I’ve tried some, I’ve been given some, and I’ve turned my nose up to them all.

Last week that all changed when Harriet Gausman sent me a sampling of shapes to get a taste for her recently opened store, Salon Rouge.

These pictures don’t really do the shapes justice, in my opinion, but I think you can detect the subtle yet significant differences between the shape of the face, hips, and waist in each.   I didn’t show you the entire shapes because I absolutely insist that you visit Harriet’s store to see them for yourself.  They’re that delightful.

Cheers, Brig.

The Seven Day Affair: Wednesday

0

Hump day’s outfit was provided, once again, by the fabulous Iori Lasek of [name pending] Designs.  These throwback swimsuits– adorable for both guys and gals– will be in his store in the very near future.  The accessories to jazz them up brought me true merriment.  Who doesn’t need a flirty little swim cap with scripted hair or a saucy moostache to sport when the right occasion arises?   Exactly.

Iori custom made the swimmies for us because of my complete lack of faith that we’d actually be able to stay afloat in the sea. You’re a lifesaver Iori– pun sort of intended.

Cheers, Brig.

What might have been a civilized night out (thankfully) turned into anything but civilized when Riq Graves of Reek sent some toys my way. This wagon– and the other new things at Reek including pencils to wear in your nose/behind your ears, fireflies in a jar, and a robot toy– are an inventory must for anyone who’s even remotely playful.

We’re sporting some Reek attire here, too.  The toys are more fun if you’re also wearing Reek clothes– trust me.

Cheers, Brig.

I Think You’ll Like…

…these dresses.

Coco’s gown, as expected, is elegant, unique, and provocative enough to guarantee you a dance invitation without being banned from (most) clubs for indecency.

Kae’s ensemble is adaptable, flirty, and sort of girl-next-door-ish.  With so many layer choices, even those of us on a budget (economic recession and all) can justify the purchase of such a versatile piece.

If you need me to talk you into either of these, IM me in-world.  I vow to drop whatever I’m doing to come encourage you to support the great work these designers are doing.

Cheers, Brig

Date Night:What If We Stayed In?

0

The Harajuku Box Skinfaire had several fun and unusual skins but this “Spoiled” Makeup from PINK FUEL’s Raine was the one I had to have. I may go back later and pick up the same skin in the other makeup, I liked them both but leaned toward this one so ran out of the shop and home to try it on. It doesn’t disappoint.

You may have heard the stampede to Annyka Becker’s BLOWPOP to snap up her recent release of FELICE which comes in a huge variety of tones and has both chemise or lingerie options in the same textures.

The prim skirt piece in the middle is remarkably well fitted. Prim pieces for this style of skirt are my personal nemesis -  but Cajsa wore this chemise out to a den of inquity we attended for entertainment and I spent forever looking for the prim piece. It’s so nicely crafted, I didn’t even spend forever in poses looking for one that made it look “right”.

Your Footwear Shortlist

1

This entry is quite simple.

I’ve gathered together eight pairs of shoes every avatar ought to have in her (or his, I suppose) inventory to share with you. Read on and take notes as you compose your shopping list for the day.

Shoes (I)

Shoes (II)

Shoes (III)

Shoes (IV)

(1) ‘Funny Girl Flats’ by .:Periquita: Not only are the pointy toes darling, but the shoes is scripted to change to whatever color you can imagine.  For those of you who like to change outfits quickly but dread choosing which shoes to pair with them, these are especially practical.

(2) ‘Coquette’ heels by Kalnins: Amazingly detailed textures, so many color changing options your mind will be boggled, and they spruce up any– and I do mean any– outfit.

(3) ‘Green Basic Flats’ by 50 Flats: You’ll want to go ahead and grab the entire fatpack of Ding’s flats.  I get so much wear out of mine I’m surprised I haven’t worn holes right through them.

(4) ‘CourtX Midnight Blue’ heels by CourtX: Shiny, polished, and so delicious looking you almost want to eat them.  I borrowed the red, white, gold, and chocolate pairs too and I assure you they’re equally impressive.  Again, another pair of shoes that’s certain to add some pizzaz to whatever you’re wearing.

(5) ‘Sayuri_(Purple & Ribbon) Pumps’ by HAYSURIZA: I love how girly and dainty these heels are.  I like to pair them with rougher ensembles for a little bit of contrast.  Again, I recommend getting one of the several fatpacks available– you won’t be able to live without a plethora of color choices.  Trust me, I tried and failed epically.

(6) ‘Cowgirl Boot – Brown’ by [hoorenbeek]: I’ve yet to encounter a western-style boot that I love more than these ones.  The textures are so real looking I want to reach out and touch them– and grab them to wear in RL.

(7) ‘London Flats’ by [Detour]: These flats are puckered a little bit in the front to make it look like they tighten and form right to your foot, much like a few pairs I have in RL.  I like them because although they look comfortable, I can still wear them with dressier outfits and not look like a slag.

(8) ‘SuedeLaceupSandal’ by AOHARU: These shoes are a total indulgence, but such a fun one.  I love that you can change the skin tone to match whatever skin you’re wearing that day and that the toenails can be color-coordinated with your various ensembles.

The Seven Day Affair: Monday

0

Personally, I never feel like doing a whole lot on a RL Monday night beyond tossing on some comfortable attire and snuggling around with my husband. Sometimes you just need recovery from the beginning of the week, right?

These colorful unisex hoodies from Trevor Turner enabled me to create a look to match my typical Monday mood. I convinced Truth to sport a male version of the outfit which, I think, is given a little sass with Iori Lasek’s 60’s British invasion jeans. These designers have so many nifty pieces and both guys are super friendly to boot. I highly recommend paying them a visit.

I’ve been searching for something to pair with Marie Lauridsen’s saucy cut out leggings since she shared them with me a few weeks back.  While I was wandering through Kimberlee Miles’ shop I found just the thing– the ‘Lost Sheep Jacket.’  To top it off, I threw on this amazing hair from Cake– a lovely treasure that (I think) has gone virtually undiscovered amidst all the excitement surrounding the hair fair.  Its detail astonishes and delights me to no end– it’s a must-have.

The Seven Day Affair: Sunday

1

After finishing the ‘Accoutrement For Every Hour’ posts, I felt compelled to do another series to give you all a reason to come back and keep reading.  It’s my pleasure to present ‘going out’ attire for guy and gals– an outfit for each day of the week.

Sunday’s outfit was provided by Mr. Iori Lasek, owner of [name pending] designs.  When Iori sent along this waistcoat for Truth to wear, he pointed out that it could be appropriated for women, too.  There’s seven colors of paint ’splats’ to wear on the vest (I chose orange, Truth red) which is paired nicely with dressier pants or the jeans we’re sporting.  Head over to Iori’s shop if you haven’t been– there’s lots of treasures like this top waiting for you to snatch up.  This outfit seems best suited to getting into some kind of a paintball fight– an activity perfectly suited to a Sunday afternoon, don’t you think?
