One of my new obsessions is expanding where I shop. I have been stuck in a rut for a while, returning to my faithful obsessions even while admiring other creators works from afar. Silent Sparrow has been one of those place – I look, I admire but had never gotten around to visiting. But I was fascinated by the elegant vintage style with a modern Haute Goth (yes it’s a style) look.

My Grandmother always based the quality of handwork by looking at the underside. Many times on the grid, I find myself checking the BACK of creations – just to see what sort of goodness might be hidden. This LOTTIE Jacket does not disappoint, and it’s these sorts of details that I find entrancing.

Pairing this neo-Edwardian gorgeous ensemble with some somber jewelry from Violet Voltaire (it’s called Melancholy – but I kind of think it’s kind of festive) and a messy do from Zero Style, I am dressed for a night of dancing with my beloved.

The skin is Ryker Beck’s flawless Eden skin – now EXODI brand – in SUGAR tone and ROCKSTAR makeup.

I am pleased to announce Felicity Blumenthal as the new Advertising Assistant for Second Style. She will be helping me with the advertising for the magazine and will also be running the website advertising. Please see her or HeatherDawn for any of your advertising needs.
This Post was all about my Fear of Evening Gowns. I guess you could say I’m a Gownphobe anything that calls to dress up that much scares me. I’m like the awkward fat girl at prom. I want to hide in my everyday clothes. Its not that I don’t like getting dressed up I love it. But I always feel a bit high school prom, and that’s never a good look beyond 16.
The 24th issue of Second Style magazine has hit the stands. It features a bridal theme, with featured articles from from your favorite Second Style writers like Ana Lutetia, Amika Jewell and James Schwarz. We introduce new writers, like Vivianne Draper, Dancien Graves, Lordfly Digeridoo, Brigitte Belgar and Violet McGinnis. We take a look at traditional Japanese and Indian weddings and homes for the new couple. Uma Ceawlin shows us some amazing mix and match wedding looks, and Surarin Piek explores honeymoon fashion. We also feature wedding gowns and bridal wear for some of the alternative walks of life in SL. It’s jam-packed full of goodness!
We’re also overhauling our website to bring you a fresh new look and even fresher content, so pardon our dust!

As any
good high school student in the U.S. can tell you, Semper Ubi Sububi is US High School Latin for ALWAYS WEAR UNDERWEAR.
If we still lived in an age where ladies had a motto – this would be mine.
I know a lot of people who disdain underwear in World, or who just think it’s pretentious. I however, disagree. I think it’s graceful and elegant – and frankly, I think it’s ladylike.

Today I’m wearing three pieces by Insolence, who is truly a must have store on any lady’s shopping list. The work is quality and solid and the styles elegant and femme.
First up I’m showing you Dolores in white and in black.

Elegant lace and lots of layer options are always a win in my book. I love the versatility you always get with the panties/hose/garters layers from Insolence.

And I know it’s out of season but I just LOVE this rich jewel tone set, Jaime, that came out over the holidays.  I’m also breaking out some shoes which I constantly forget I have and LOVE from Insolence – Marie Jeanne.

They’re Mary Jane’s – for grown up ladies

Every good fashion servant needs an effective LBD – Little Black Dress. I picked three from different boutiques in Second Life to show you.

Dress: 1800B Swing II Black
Shoes: Shiny Things
Hair: Foam, The Drifter

Dress: 1800B Cocktail Hour in Black
Shoes: Shiny Things
Hair: Foam, The Drifter
I really like the 1800 Betties dresses. They’re perfect for formal occasions, and one could probably ditch the gloves for a more casual appearance. Sleeveless and short but with full skirts, these would be great for a night at the club (the Swing II) or a cocktail party, where the Cocktail Hour dress would be best suited.

Dress: Icing – Night Mist
Shoes: Shiny Things
Hair: Foam, Lois Lane
Not all LBD’s have to be entirely black! This black, white and grey floral screams “evening garden party”. I’m especially in love with the waist-defining bow. Add a pop of color with accessories and you’ll really stand out in the crowd!

Dress: Church of Luxe
Shoes: Shiny Things
Hair: Foam, Valerie
The Church of Luxe LBD is more like a fantastic baby doll and is probably more suited for a warm fall evening party than anything else. The princess-sleeve shoulders give this dress an added fashion height and definition it might be missing otherwise.
In retrospect, I’d have to say that the Icing dress is the best in terms of texture and construction, but in terms of a great all around LBD, you might want to lean more towards the Cocktail Hour dress by 1800 Betties’.
