Trick’o'Mask at Skin City & Modeling Opportunity!

0

trick_o_mask.jpgSkin City – Three days before Halloween 2008 (October 27th to October 31st), Skin City merchants will be putting out their Halloween treats in front of their stores. Unlike many promotional events, Trick’o'Mask strives to be unique and easy for residents of Second Life to participate in. To be given out are not just any treats, but masks — masks based on select skins created by Skin City designers! But, there’s more to the story:
The masks can be used to obtain discounts to its corresponding skin, and also to land on modeling opportunities for its bearer. Following this event will be the first ever Guy Fawkes Fashion Show on November 5th, where anyone who has a Trick’o'Mask mask get to walk on the Skin City runway and to win more prizes.

Mayor Ina Centaur explains the entertainment-based rationale behind the event, “Virtual candy is generally not as sweet or fun as its RL counterpart, so, instead, for Halloween we give masks – with famous faces based on skins created by the designers of Skin City! Customers who like the skin can then use the mask to activate a discount in a vendor containing the original skin the mask face is based on. For those who can’t afford the skin, they have a chance to win it at the Guy Fawkes Fashion show on Nov 5th – and maybe to land on future modeling opportunity to accumulate more fashion wealth on SL!”

The Trick’o'Mask event is from October 27th to October 31st. The Guy Fawkes Fashion Show, where all are welcome to model is on November 5th.

RUNWAY Magazine Launches New Business Venture

0

OCTOBER 31, 2008 — RUNWAY Magazine CEOs, Maggie Mahoney and Ocean Bates, are proud to announce the launch of a new business venture, RUNWAY Productions. This new subsidiary of the successful fashion magazine will produce fashion shows for designers, agencies and collectives of fashion designers within Second Life. The production company will act independently of the magazine.According to Ms. Mahoney, “RUNWAY Productions will afford even the newest designer in Second Life, the opportunity to show their designs on the catwalk. We have been successful producing our own shows through the magazine quarterly revues, and consulting on other shows held by agencies and it was a natural progression for us to start our own production company and offer these services to the fashion community.”

Well known SL top fashion model and marketing guru, Payton Heron, has agreed to head this new production company as its’ Creative Director. She will work with designers to ensure that their vision of how the designs are presented to the consumer is well executed. She will also play an integeral management role in all aspects of the production, from casting to set design to the choreography down the catwalk. In addition, Payton will also operate public relations and marketing for the production company, while continuing her modeling career.

“I am extremely excited to partner with Maggie and bring fashion shows to a new level of entertainment and excitement. My hope is that more designers will choose us to produce shows for them in a cost effective and easy “one stop shop” operation and that agencies will work together to offer consumers amazing productions that we will implement for them” says Payton Heron.

RUNWAY CEO Ocean Bates commented, “RUNWAY Magazine has always maintained its neutrality in working with all of the agencies and designers in Second Life, and we feel this is positive step forward. We are pleased to offer a dedicated location for fashion events with the facilities, staff and resources that may not otherwise be available to a designer or agency. For established agencies, we offer a second or expanded venue that they could utilize to provide a more custom environment for their clients.”

The first round of shows are planned for November starting with the RUNWAY Best of 2008 Couture Revue in conjunction with Frolic Mill’s MISS VIRTUAL WORLD Organization when all 20 finalists will join on the runway with 20 RUNWAY Models.

Gorgeous ethnic jewelry.

0

A while back, I got some very nice ethnic jewelry from Bella Bombast. She is the designer behind Uzuri. Located on the Sambella sim, her store contains a few different creations. Among her generous ethnic jewelry collection, she also features eyes and skin. She gave me a wonderful selection of her amazing jewelry! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

circle_of_life_kayble_saharian_1.jpgFirst up we have the Circle of Life pieces. The necklace is a large circular pendant with wood beads and it sells for $200L. There are also earrings available which are cone shaped with a fan tail dangle and sell for $150L. Next I am wearing the Kabyle set with the Saharian Ring. The Kabyle bracelet is a silver and onyx double banded bracelet and sells for $200L. The earrings go for $150L and are an interesting silver texture with a half circle dangle. The Saharian Ring is not particularly meant for this set, but I thought it matched nicely with its silver and black design. You can get it for $160L.

shamanic_1.jpgIn this photo, I am wearing the Shamanic Necklace. It is a large, gorgeous oval stone with a smaller circular opening. Hanging fringe graces the lower, wider portion, while a medium sized bead adorns the upper portion. Then, you have some smaller beads leading up to your neck. It is available in neutral tones, or the monochromatic design, and can be purchased for $200L each.

uzuri3_1.jpgIn my last photo I have on the Sacred Bracelet and the Fantasy Ring (Afro), the Tribal Ring with the Trinity Necklace, and the Desert Flower Earrings. The Sacred Bracelet is $180L and features two bands connected with a silver disc in the middle. The Fantasy Ring (Afro) costs $125L and is a chunky style with a nice ethnic design to it. The Trinity Necklace is marked at $250L and is made up of 3 blue stones at cascading levels and accented with small green beads. The Tribal ring goes for $150L and it is made from wood, with an ornate square spiral design. Finally, we have the Desert Flower Earrings which you can get for $150L. These are made from a quality silver and have large, thick circular hoops which hand from a small cone.

I hope you will give this unique shop a visit and check out some of her other designs. She really has some very nice styles. I hope you enjoyed these pictures and the other items I am wearing in them. HOH Carrie – brown with the 40’s Hollywood bangs, Detour Faded Lashes, Ina Centaur 2008 Cerulean Spice eyes, Soda Andrea Skin – Glow – Smokey Dramatic and ::ZD:: Poet: Helena Dress.
