ZERO Tolerance from Minnu Palen!

Minnu Palen is well known for her amazing skins. She has also been known lately due to some unsavory and undeserved drama. I won’t get into that, but I do want to praise her for being strong and keeping her head up high! After a brief break and some fresh air, she has reopened her store, located on Glam World. http://slurl.com/secondlife/glam%20world/100/176/23/

minnu3.jpgUpon entry, a large desk awaits you. A computer with the link to her website, http://www.glamworldsl.com/ sits there, as well as photographs of all the staff. Venturing in farther, you will find an amazing watery floor and a few tanks, which I assume are for models? Perhaps shoppers can try them out? Not sure…you should go see! You will also see an area here with eyes and eyelashes. Straight back is the treasure…her line of skins she calls ZERO. You will notice 2 sets of stairs on either side of the welcome area, which lead to a line of men’s skins by Thora Charron. There is also a cute little hair salon area, near Minnu’s line of hair. This large building also houses 2 other great shops, Maitreya and Maiiki.

minnu1.jpgAt $1500L a skin and $9000L for the full pack of eight, you might feel leery. But trust me, they are WELL worth it! Each skin shade come with three eyebrow options. First choice is very light, second choice is “a”, medium shade, and third choice is “b”, dark shade. The detail work she puts into these skins is remarkable. I just love the neck and collarbone area! So natural looking. The facial features are amazing. I love the high cheekbones, gives me such a sophisticated look. A lot of skins I find seem to make me look “girlish”. The detail work is consistent throughout the skin. Simple coochie, which I like, and the hands and feet are very well done…in fact, I can wear toe nail polish with her skins! Wooot!

minnu2.jpgI chose makeup 6 with the lightest eyebrows for each picture. The eyes are *Sin Skins* Intense Ocean/Obsidian Eyes, and the eyelashes are Faded from Detour. The bikini is Little Glimpses by Savonah, worn with the Light skin shade. The headshots are as follows, picture 1, Fair, Pale, Light, and Sun Kissed. Picture 2, Sun Tan, Tan, Dark, and Umber.

Seen in world? Yes. Review copies? Yes. Friends list? No.

  1. Undeserved drama?

This is what you call it when people care about content theft and copycats? Are you serious? Is this what you think about talking about IP rights which do not only exist inside Second Life?

Don’t you care about all the Gen4 Customers who will never ever get their money back? Don’t you care about reaching clarification?

“I (Minnu Palen) did use rendered pictures of the purchased textures” - “Items sourced and in question are the light brown eyebrows, lips and belly button” - Minnu Palen

You won’t get into that but you want to praise Minnu for keeping her head up high? Are you serious?

“I believe that copycats need to be exposed and can use some bad press just so that they understand that they can not get away with it just because this is Second Life. Reputation is everything in Second life and supporters of copycats should go down with them.” - Maddox DuPont

  2. I’m afraid I have to agree with Morph on this one. I was a huge fan of Minnu and purchased at least 15 of her skins which I will not wear now, nor will I ever purchase one of her Zero skins or anything else she makes. There are so many other really good and much more deserving skin makers out there. It saddens me that their talent often goes unrecognized while the denizens of Minnuians continue to blog her over and over. I just don’t get it. The Zero skins have white under the eyes, the skin faces don’t match the bodies at all — they’re not even good.

  3. “Yes, I did use the brows and the bellybutton, but I was within the license that I bought. Now I totally understand that Danae thought she was protected by the same license but I thought the same by reading it.”

“…I’d like to say there is no legal action being taken against me whatsoever. I was not obligated to take Gen 4 off the market at all. That was my own free will. I was never contaced by Lindens or Danae or her laywers after that…”
    ~Minnu Palen

What do you mean by “the Gen4 Customers who will never ever get their money back?” Were they forced to return their skins to Minnu? I don’t get it…

  4. There are a bunch of 3d sites on the internet where you can legally purchase source files of skins used for other media/software….is this immoral or dishonest in any way?

To what degree a designer can buy files and modify them to be considered an original creator? There are sites where they sell photographs of naked bodies for artists…Are skin designers allowed to do that if they choose the photo realistic route, or they can only shoot their own pics?

What about clothes designers? Are they dishonest if they purchase fabric textures from 3d sites and design their creations using the bought “fabric textures”?

I don’t really think there are that many skin designers that start completely from scratch …Do you?

I think a Poll would be great here Celebrity :)

  5. First of all..

She stoled that woman’s work, even after the woman clearly states on her “read me” file that its copyrighted, she still went on and copy and pasted the woman’s hard work into the template.

I think the person who wrote this should be extremely ashamed for promoting her store, she is a thief and should be treated like one..

You just can’t attack people who steal stuff and cover your eyes when its your favorite store who is doing it.

Lol- are you kidding me Rhi!!
If you followed the whole saga, Minnu Palen was dishonest from start to finish. She fed the entire a community a list of stories before finally admitting to the use of Danae’s artwork.

Pompo -you need to do some research matey!. There are websites where you can legally buy material for skin development in SL. The EULA at Renderosity.com of which Danae is a member of only allows her work to be rendered in 3D modelling enviroment like Poser and not for replication in SL and sold commercially. That’s the big difference. A lot of the top Skin creators buy their source material 3dsk.com. The licenses permits the purchaser to use those sources material in SL, Minnu’s did not!

Minnu gave us the spiel that her skins were from photographs from her own body -rofl! That was the very 1st lie, then it escalated into more lies.

Did you really think Minnu would ever give up and disappear? lol. Within eastern europe the power of the “Greenback” is all too consuming! Greed springs to mind.

As for the Zero skins themselves! To be honest they’re nothing exceptional. No better no worst than what already exists within SL. You’ll see better make-up elsewhere and the body details including your raved collarbones are par for the course from any top line skin creator.
