Popfuzz @ The Beachwear & Lingerie Expo

0

Popfuzz.jpgWho said that lingerie should be pastels? No! At least, not always… not in this case, not when Popfuzz Bamboo makes lingerie. Because Popfuzz is the girl with the vibrant colours in het shop. A lot of vibrant colours.

Popfuzz has been around for a while and I admit I’ve never really looked into her designs, probably because I usually go for the more demure colours, but when earlier today she showed me some photos of lingerie that she is about to release.. I just felt like writing about it. This is happy stuff.. it makes me smile, not only because of the lovely colours and the cute designs, but even more because of the impeccable execution of the sets. No disturbing seams, no dislocations of the textures on the templates, lovely shading… and did I mention cute designs?

All designs at Popfuzz’ come in a lot of layers to accomodate tattoo wearers and for mixing and matching in general.

These designs are premiering during the Lingerie and Beachwear expo that runs from July 12th- July 26th.

Skinkie-Style :: Fashionable Fundraising, Part 2

0

Following my last post I was thrilled to see a packed house at the RFL Grande Finale Fashion Show at the Sky Globe Theatre last Sunday & Monday. Organised by Ina Centaur and hosted by Sensuality Cordeaux the items worn were 100% Relay For Life from skin, hair and eyes to clothes, shoes and jewellery. If you missed this historic event all is not lost. The RFL Vendor Fair continues until the 19th July at Skin City.

Another historic, or should I say “momentous” RFL event is due to take place this Sunday, 13th July – the Momento RFL Benefit Auction.

Momento_Ad.jpg

Fishhook_2_1000.jpgThe organisers, Alaska Metropolitan and Tigerlily Koi promise us it will feature “Limited Editions, Exceptionally Hard-to-Finds & Original One-of-a-kind creations, all from some of the grid’s finest Designers; Past, Present & New Rising Talents.” I’m reliably told to expect some items from Last Call/Dazzle, Random Calliope and the very last Fishook Dress by Eshi Otawara which I previously featured here. All auction items are donated by your favourite designers and the proceeds will all go to Relay For Life. Mark it on your calender!

Until then you can amuse yourself and find some bargains into the… erm.. bargain at the Relay For Life Yardsale. Designers from all over the grid have cleared out their inventories and are offering YOU their cast-off’s at very reasonable prices. Ever wanted to know what is lurking in the depth of your favourite fashionista’s closet? Now is your chance to find out!

Party_Princess_1.jpgOn to the fashion. I have three more Relay For Life outfits for you today, slightly more casual than last week’s offerings. The first is a beautiful dress from Nicky Ree, the Penny Dress in pink. Nicky has reworked the handdrawn fabric she used for her older “Flight of Fancy” collection to create this fabulous summer dress. Perfect for strolls along the beachfront on warm summer evenings followed by drinks with friends in the garden of your favourite pub.

With it I am wearing Elikapeka Tiramisu’s Survive hair. This comes in three packs of five shades, each for a mere L$400 donation and won’t be available after the 19th July. The hair beads are made specifically for this style by Eolande. A similar set are available for ETD’s other RFL hair, Strength III, but the beads can easily be adjusted and worn with any hairstyle. An easy way to add a little funk to your look.

Also from Eolande is the jewellery, a version of her Celtic Blossom Jewellery in a very pretty and unique RFL metal. I’ve been a fan of Eolande’s hair accessories since she first started and her more recent jewellery offerings are of the same high standard at a very reasonable price.

I just love these leg lengthening platform shoes from Tesla, so much so that, after trying on the beige version that I was sent for review, I went and bought the four-pack. At L$300 for a great shoe in black, beige pink and pale blue from one of the best sculptie shoe makers on the grid you just can’t go wrong though. Hurry, they will only be around for 10 more days!

Party_Princess_Jewellery.jpg

Outfit 1

The next outfit I wore for days on end. As much as I adore getting dressed up, looking glamorous and earning my fashionista stripes, when I’m mulling around doing day-to-day work around the grid, building or shopping, this is exactly the sort of thing I’ll be wearing.

The clothing is from a shop I’d not heard of before, Nova by designer NovaStar Shilova. The jeans are sold as part of another outfit, but here I have teamed them with the gorgeous cashmere hoodie in Blossom from the same designer. It’s not shown well here, but the jeans outfit comes with four designs of chest tattoo, each the kanji symbol for courage, health, love and strength respectively, perfect symbolism for a RFL gift.

ETD_Strength_Casual.jpg

Outfit 2

My favourite part of this outfit has to be the Francoise Flats from Shiny Things. I don’t often wear flat shoes in SL as most I’ve seen are on the clumpy side, even ballet flats. But Fallingwater Celladoor has shown yet again why she is one of the most noteworthy shoe designers on the grid with her perfect, naturally shaped offering. They come in a number of shades/patterns, but I chose multiswirl as a shoe that will match almost any outfit.

Relay For Life isn’t just about fashion. Builders of every kind have made items for this cause and two of them can be seen in this photograph. The sofa is part of a 16+ piece low prim, sculpted living room set by Topaz Square and comes in a variety of colourways, and the Crystal candlelight Lamp is from Henredon Homes, the designers behind Calla’s new store.

The last of today’s offerings is from a designer who is relatively new to the SL fashion scene, but has deservedly created a storm – Zaara. The designs in this store are bang-on-trend right now, mixing modern design with ethnic patterns.

Zaara.jpg

Outfit 3

For RFL Zaara has released this beautiful babydoll style dress called “Freespirit” in pink. Little details such as the ribbon tie at the back, as well as the stunning pattern and colour combinations set this apart. I’m wearing it with the ultra-realistic Gaeae skin from IC-skins, another RFL creation from the ever-generous Ina Centaur and Random Calliope’s Heart & Soul jewellery, a RFL Limited Edition set.

My thanks go to all the designers who not only created these items, but who also put in so much time and effort to organise events to amuse, educate and entertain us whilst raising money for this important cause.

CG Facelight 4.0

1

light_off.jpglight_on.jpgI acquired an excellent freebie facelight from the Fashion Emergency group just a few days ago and I wanted to pass it on to all of our readers.

Cognitive Gears created a facelight which is 100% free – (copy/mod/trans OK) even the scripts inside the objects are copy/mod/trans. I put a L$0 vendor for this facelight at the Second Style HQ in Le Zoo (137, 28, 22). On the left, the face light is off, and on the right it is turned on. (This is at midnight in world.)

Unlike most facelights post-Windlight, it does not make your avatar a blinding beacon of light even in midnight-type conditions. It just gives your avatar enough light to bring the sexy back without utterly overpowering everything else in the vicinity. Since this facelight comes with a super easy to use HUD, it’s very simple to modify how it looks – what color of light it emits, the intensity of the light, and to turn it on and off with a mouseclick.

Highly recommended for all lumenally challenged fashionistas.

Unleash your inner hoochie

0

Snapshot_003.jpgSnapshot_005.jpgSimone Stern released this dress design a few days ago. Inner Hoochie is available from her “Style Starts Here” shopping sim collection, and is available in several colors, although I ultimately decided to buy it in two colors: hot pink and gold. My favorite bit about the Inner Hoochie dress is the gorgeous shading Simone has added to the system skirt. (Yes, it uses a system skirt, but…) Unlike many other system skirt outfits, this one does a clever job of using shading to minimize the “Does this make my ass look fat?” syndrome endemic to most of these types of dresses.

There’s also a collection of matching heels, with a “multi-color” pair in lieu of a fatpack. Like the other clothing (and lingerie, and swimsuits, and and) at SSH, the Inner Hoochie dress is available for just L$250. The single color shoes are L$300 each, and the multicolor collection is L$1000.

With the gold dress, I wanted to show off Melanie Zhao’s gorgeous knee-high gladiator style sandals called Savannah. Although I was wearing the gold metallic in the photo, these are also available in an almost bewildering set of textures from animal print to some beautiful metallics. Like other ZHAO shoes, it comes with Melanie’s Shoe HUD which lets you select things such as heel click sounds, bling and if you want the built in animation override to activate. The Savannah gladiator design is a bit more spendy at L$500 per style, but it’s such a beautiful sexy design I felt like it was well worth it.

Shop Style Starts Here (117, 132, 27) and ZHAO Shoes at Agard (231, 52, 26).

Match of the Day: Michami, Fleur, Blaze

2

Versatility.jpgMy Sim neighbour Milla dropped me her latest creation, and since I was fooling around in the studio with some poses anyway, I started to play around with it, and this is what happened when I teamed up Michami‘s bustier and shorts, with Fleur‘s patent belts and Blaze’s sculptie pumps. A match made in heaven with Rivièra potential. Both Milla’s outfit and the Fleur belts come in a lot of layering options so they are ideal for mixing and matching, and Blaze‘s shoes are a steal at only 2,900 L$ for a total fatpack of 41 (!!) colours. As you see… there were some that matched the belts perfectly.

The hair is Seu Ahn’s latest addition to Shop Seu, the shades are a classic by Toast Bard at Fashionably dead and the skin is a beta from PXL Creations that I’ve been in for weeks now.

Lively: Second Life killer?

9

corner_logo.gifGoogle publically launched “Lively” which everyone and her grandmother is comparing to Second Life. This is not the right comparision – Lively is actually far more similar to IMVU than Second Life.

There’s no user generated content. There’s no economy. And while embedding a 3D space on your website is kind of fun and novel, how would you actually use it productively? Mike Elgan at Computerworld thinks it’s a great tool for remote access telecommuters. But I’m not really sure what Lively would buy a telecommuter over, say, Skype.

What do you all think? Have you tried it? Do you want to develop content for it? I changed the sidebar poll to track your opinions. Leave some comments if you have more feedback.

Great weekend events at Ellie’s!

Ellie’s is a clothing store ran by a husband and wife team, EllieMae Wycliffe & SirGeorge Schuttelanz. Not only do they offer cute, stylish clothing at great prices, but they also keep a variety of exciting happenings for the shoppers.

From now until July 30th, they are having a “Christmas in July” hunt. Eleven gifts are located inside the store, and 4 outside in the mall area. Each gift contains a preview of outfits coming to the store soon!

On Friday, the 11th, at 7:30pm SLT, George’s Fine Fashions for Men will have its debut. I cannot wait to see the new, affordable styles they have in store for all the guys out there!

Finally, this Sunday at 7pm SLT is the premiere of MY OUTFIT, Rhi! How did I get an outfit you ask? Well, one of the fun events they host is a monthly model search. I had the extreme pleasure of winning last month! Part of my prize was having an outfit designed for and named after me! I look forward to seeing you all there.

I have included a few pictures so you can see the wonderful designs this great team puts out. NO item is over $50L! You can find their store here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/chance/224/210/22/

Minnu Model Skins Zero Line

1

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know that Minnu Palen has released a new line of skins called “Zero”. Seriously, I’m pretty sure everyone logged into SL on Sunday went to the Glam World sim to see the new line and pick up some fab freebies. Luckily, the much-anticipated MMS line was worth some serious lag!

There are lots of good things to say about Zero, and I could go on all day. I really love the shading on all parts of the body, particularly the belly and the detail on the feet is awesome. (And I have never been one to show up any place barefoot!)

MMStonerange.jpg

As you can see from the photo, Zero comes in eight beautiful skintones. I really think there’s something for everyone in this line. The six lighter tones come with three brow options, and the two darkest come with two brow options. This is really exciting for me because, YAY no more fussing with tinty brows!

I am also completely in love with the makeups. Minnu has always pushed the envelope when it comes to makeups, and this line is no exception. I could share all the makeups, but don’t want to hit an overkill scenario – so, here are a few faves:

umber4A.jpg

dark4A.jpg

(Umber 4A, Dark 4A) Good news for the sistas in SL. These dark tones are really beautiful. I love the shining gold eyes on Umber 4A, and the smoldering sexy ones on Dark4A.

tan1B.jpg

pale2A.jpg

(Tan 1B, Pale 2A) Another thing I love is that the Fair and Pale tones aren’t a wash out. Loving the pretty pinkness of Tan 1B, and the supercool green on Pale 2A.

Sorry, I didn’t share the bits. I guess you’re going to have to run to Glam World, and pick up the demos yourself! http://slurl.com/secondlife/Glam%20World/96/179/23

Skin Flicks… More Than Just Skins

0

Last Fall… coinciding with my blogging leave of absence, Mavis McGettigan of Skin Flicks sent me a coat, that due to circumstances I never even got around to trying on til later that year. So I knew the Skin Flicks designer was into making clothes, and then forgot about it. Til yesterday when I was talking with my friend Roslin and she mentioned she saw so many cute things at Mavis’shop. Now Roslin is one of my style icons, just one classy lady, so if she tells me she has seen cuteness around… I’m dropping my prims and TP right away.

Skinflicks.jpgA trip I don’t regret, other than for my Linden dollar balance. I kind of lost myself in the awesome clothes at Skin Flicks. Whereas I never managed to make my shape work with her skins, it is love at first sight with Mavis’clothes. Every detail, every texture, it is all so beautiful. No issues with these clothes…. and oh my goodness, do I love it when a designer builds her prims on a shape that is having some curves and muscles. I didn’t need to adjust a single prim to make things fit.

I’m not going to describe every single outfit, just look for yourself , and the details are in the credits. If you’ve been at Skin Flicks, you’ll know why I’m such a happy girl today… If you have never been there… it’s not too late… go indulge yourself!

Second Style #20 Now Available

2

For my American readers, I hope you had a great Independence Day.

I’m also excited to show off issue #20! It’s available as a PDF download, in world from our HQ on Le Zoo (136, 36, 22) and many other kiosk locations around Second Life, and from Issuu, a new free service which lets you browse PDFs just like a paper magazine. (It’s fast become the most popular way to read Second Style!)

Issue 20 is two weeks late, unfortunately, and I apologize for that. We have a lot of Relay for Life fashion goodies to show off, nonetheless, including our gorgeous covergirl Tigerlily Koi of Calla. We also welcome two new columnists this month: Graciana McMillan is taking over Runway Rundown from Justine Babii and Phoenix Chapman is contributing a new and notable column where she highlights her “can’t live without” finds over the past month. We’re already hard at work on issue #21, and hopeful it’ll be released on time.

Second Style is also having a special sale on ads for the next three issues (21, 22 and 23.) Due to the lateness of issue #20, we are extending our submission deadline for ads in issue #21 until July 14, 2008. We are also extending the ad submission deadline for issue #22 until August 1, 2008. The deadline for #23 will remain August 20, 2008. We typically publish Second Style during the first full week of a given month. (July will be slightly delayed beyond that timeline because we are allowing late ad submissions.)

For these three issues, full page and two page spreads will be 20% off! We will also stack this discount on top of our popular “buy three placements, get one free” promotion which saves you an additional 25% when you buy multiple placements at the same time. (You choose how to use your placements, one per issue, or two in two issues, etc.) With both discounts, a two page ad is about the same price as a regular priced full page ad (L$11,000), and a full page ad is just a little over L$6000, around the regular price of a half page ad.

You can see our regular advertising rate card here.

Elate!

1

In a group that I belong to, one of the members sent out the cutest dress to the others. It was an “omg why have I never heard of you before” moment when just now I opened the box. A quick Google resulted in a few mentions and a nice post by Whimsy Winx over at Virtually Dressed a few weeks ago, but honestly… a fresh designer creating cute things like this… she should be ALL over the feed.

Elate.jpgIt is my pleasure to (re-) introduce you to Elate, designed by Kellie Iwish. After trying on the first dress, the super feminine and wonderfully flouncy Annalisa night dress (2nd left) I rushed over to her shop and uhm… basically bought a bit of everything. After all, blogging has always been my excuse for retail therapy, and one thing was sure right from the start… this is what I call blogworthy. So from left to right: Raeva Fire… I should have put that one later in the photo.. because it is the only one I found a little flaw in… on the arms there are 2 tiny white dots, possibly to indicate the waist, as it is spot on. Nothing that the eraser tool and a new upload cannot fix in a mater of minutes though. Second, mentioned already, the Annalisa dress. Very lovely surprise to find that in your inventory on a cloudy Wednesday afternoon. In the middle, Phoebe and that is lovely feathers on your pixelperfect body. The primwork on this one is just so pretty too. Felicity, dress number 4, here in cobalt, is a sassy little strapless dress with a multi layered skirt that is really wonderfully textured. Felicity is available in quite some colours. And last but not least, Mae, the cutest lace tube dress. I often have issues with this type of skirt prim, but on this dress it just works perfect. I forgot to put on the matching grey stockings for this photo… but hey… it’s been hot here today, so who cares about tights.

Credits: Skin by Roslin Petion and CJ Carnot @ Fleur: Vivant bronze Terre 3; Hair by Onyx Leshelle @ Maitreya: Amy in Jet and the shoes (honorable mention, because I’ve been drooling over them since I first saw them) are the Babii pumps by Damen Gorilla @  Adam ‘n Eve. Rez one before wearing them and join me in drooling over the intricate finishing of these shoes.
