Ivalde, Finally.

By Justine Babii | September 1, 2007

Ivalde.jpg At the beginning of August I was lucky enough to attend a fashion show featuring Scandinavian designers. In my review, I mentioned Ivalde, a shop that’s been around but with which I had been unfamiliar until that show. Ever since that show, I’ve been meaning to do a proper review of some of the many goodies from Ivalde’s owner and designer Neferia Abel. While I’ve been idling and not making good on my intention, Neferia has been busy busy busy. In fact, I don’t know how she does all that she does. To the left, for example, I’m not only wearing one of many new outfits from Ivalde, I’m also wearing one of their new skins! (The dress is Ramona, L$350, comes in choice of four colors).

Ivalde2.jpg As I said in my review way back when, Ivalde is the kind of shop you have to visit repeatedly because there is so much there. Neferia is a fan of history and of historical styles, so as you wander the aisles you’re also wandering through eras. Ivalde is also exciting because it seems there is always something new coming out. The line of skins currently available for example, called “Dryad,” will soon be joined by two new lines, “Underworld” and “Naiad.” (I’m wearing a Naiad in the top picture and Dryad in the other two). The dress to the left, called Henny (L$350) was inspired by 1920s fashion and though it isn’t out yet, it should be available for sale “by the end of the day” as Neferia put it when she sent it over. Currently Ivalde is having a sale, with many of Neferia’s older styles discounted to L$50 or L$100 per outfit, (but hurry because the sale is supposed to end today, let’s hope for an extension!) She’s cleaning out the old stock to make room for her many new designs.

Ivalde3.jpg Part of what took me so long to write about the store is that they literally have so much to choose from. The disco dress to the left, Lina, (L$300) is just an example of some of the treasures you can find if you look around there a bit. Be sure to go when you have some time, because whether you’re looking for something from the 1980s or the 1880s, you’re sure to find something beautiful you love.
