Relay For Life 2007: Goodies, Auctions and Mucho Linden$
By Grazia Horwitz | July 28, 2007
[update GH] slurls are fixed, as well as the timetables and Barnesworth sent me some more info about the house as well.
Ok.. the 32 Relay For Life sims are pretty crowded with builders and contributors right now who are working in a frenzy to get everything ready in time for the start of Relay 2007. That could be the reason why I have not been totally spammed with ads for this post. If I had not been busy finishing our Shopaholics camp, I would have walked a first lap across the sims (more than 7.5 miles or 12 Kms) to shoot some photos for this post, but for now I’ll have to go with the ads I’ve been provided with.
First here are the official timetables and a slurl to the Ceremony Center which is a great point to start exploring the sims
Torrid Midnight, captain of Pixels in Pink, sent me this ad which shows so well what PiP is about this year… they are pink… and black… noir. I took a quick peak at their build and oh lordy.. have people been busy there. Awesome build! PiP will have a series of auctions, one of a kinds, some RFL classics, so if you missed out on them last year, go grab them now. Who knows what will be out next year.
Rose Farina, also affiliated to PiP, sent me the things she made for RFL. The fairy wings are so cute and only 3 of the Serenity oufits will be sold!!! Dreams of Venice is my favorite I think, but then again, I love black and white for formal attire. Southern Charm features the cute straw hats from Rose’s brand Rose petal creations which I have seen blogged before. I’m so pleased to see that she made them available on the campsite too
Cattrina Careless from Catt’s Creations also send me one of her specials. I don’t know if it will be on display on the RFL sims, but it is in her shop anyway. What I love in most of the RFL Specials that I have seen during this campaign is that all content creators have tried to make it really worth the donation. This one is no exception. The pants with and without the bow, the various skirt possibilities tons of different layers. Just the way we all like it. Cattrina stayed perfectly in theme with the vibrant pink details on this dress. If you buy this set, there will be a special incentive for you, you get a 500 L$ voucher to spend on other Catt’s Creations items. Isn’t that sweet?
While working on our own campsite with some teammembers, I remembered the incredibly funny purse that Caroline Apollo made a couple of months ago and I thought it might be so much fun to have that in a RFL version to entertain your fellow Relayers with while walking the track. I know we had a really good time with the male version of it while having a break from settin up the plot, driving around with wacky yellow cars on the sim. I IMmed Caroline and asked if she was willing to make it available for RFL day and she was all for it, so: available at Caroline’s shop and on the Shopaholics campsite today: the RFL Random Purse.
Tigerlily Koi and Haedon Quine from Calla have been so wonderful this Relay, with tons of specially textured hair for the good cause, and now they have even made some specials just for Relay day. Calla hair specials are available on the Shopaholics campsite in the big pink and purple tent, together with special releases from Talyn Barett from Analise, the designs from Nicky Ree and Shai Delacroix that I have shown before. Oh and when I just logged back on, I found that Shai did make another special, of which I have no photo, but you can see it on her blog.
Last for now, but certainly not least today as far as RFL is concerned, I would like to show you this one of a kind house that Barnesworth Anubis made. This house is not rezzed on the RFL sims, but on the land that comes with it. Go take a look if you want something truly unique. Be prepared to pay good L$ though as last year prices where quite spectacular for charity. Barnes will also offer about 10 hours to finalize set up and customize the house for you.
Come and Relay with us today. The teams and organisation can do all they want, but Relay is a huge success thanks to you all, the SL residents, who have contributed and donated so generously throughout the whole campaign. And remember, EVERY donation is appreciated. Whether it is 10k or 1 L$. If every resident would donate 1 L$ today, that would mean more than 8 million L$ for cancer research on top of the 27 million that were raised already. Now THAT makes a difference!
Thank you all so much!!!!

I know you must be very busy but since you’ve taken the time to post all this wonderful information, I thought you’d like to know that the first picture of the time table does not open to a larger picture. At least it refuses to do so for me.
Posted by: Delilah Karas on July 28th, 2007 at 7:38 amit could be my connection, but the campsite link didn’t work for me. I did get there using the link for the ceremony center link.

Posted by: Grazia Horwitz on July 28th, 2007 at 8:54 amIs there a shopping area, or are the campsites primarily party sites for the teams?
Posted by: Sioban on July 28th, 2007 at 4:53 pmhey Sioban, the Relay concept in SL is pretty unique, you’ll have to take a look to really get it. No, there is no special shopping area, goodies are all over the 40 team camp sites and all over the 32 sims because the idea is that people come and walk with us. And whereas I do hope that all teams are having a great time at their sites, it’s not a big party ting either :-)
Posted by: Grazia Horwitz on July 28th, 2007 at 7:50 pmAh, that’s why I found it so frustrating. I walked around and saw lots of private parties going on. The builds are lovely, though.
Posted by: Sioban on July 29th, 2007 at 7:20 amHehe as far as I know…. there is no such thing as private parties at RFL going on. Everyone is welcome everywhere…. I would understand you better if you’d say that you where overwhelmed by the amount of things to see :-)
Posted by: Grazia Horwitz on July 29th, 2007 at 7:23 amI was overwhelmed by the builds. There is some real talent there. I walked through several parties, spoke to people, but it was team members interacting with team members. That’s great. They deserve a chance to throw themselves a party after all the hard work over the the run of the RFL. It’s been an amazing amount of effort and a tremendous amount of money was raise.
