Paper Couture Fall Fashion Show

By Justine Babii | July 20, 2007

Update [CT]: Mimi Lu said that the Lu sisters were going to try to get the Fall/Winter line prepped for sale today. So if you have some Lindens burning a hole in your virtual purse, stop by House of Lu and see if the newness is there.

The virtual world has been waiting patiently for a major fashion release from the House of Lu of Paper Couture. Today, in a very packed sim they unveiled their Fall Line in style. (Yes, packed, this reporter was a bit late and had to hover outside the sim to see).

I’ve been to a lot of Second Life fashion shows but this was the first show I’ve seen where the fashion and presentation were edgy enough to be more of an event than watching clothes one might buy sweeping down the runway. This was the kind of fasion show that’s held in the real world, and it was cool.

To keep lag down, and create a feel, attendees were asked to wear masks and leotards provided for the event. The invitation stated that guests should wear black, the Lu sisters enforced it by providing the outfits and also creating the perfect off-balance and unpredictable magic one should get from fashion.

The addage is that a picture is worth a thousand words, so I’ll shut up and give you 10,000 words from the incredibly talented House of Lu.

  1. Justine, thank you for the wonderful pictures. The show indeed was a top event, with lots o’ lag dahlings and with the almost mandatory stress of crashing models, who otherwise were stunning. I love the promotion of the healthy body image by the sisters, putting not only the max length models on the runway, but leaving also space for the petite Cory Edo and the voluptuous Swirly Cyclone. A special Bravo for Ben Vanguard who, being the sole male model, stood tall between his fellow female runway tigers! And what a grand finale AFTER the finale! Deleting the build and have all the guests fall down. Well I guess Ms Cora did give us all a fair 5 seconds warning.

  2. The new line is indeed in their store and looks great. Prices are in the L$300-350 range.

  3. I didn’t get an invite…sniff, it was Swirly Cyclone who gave the heads up on the new stuffage in the store. Lots of black makes CC happy.

  4. Maybe your invite was lost in the mail, Crono. It happens. :)

  5. And the fact that CC is a writer for LL has nothing to do with it? Yeah right.

  6. Hey, I just want everyone to know that the Lu sisters probably wanted to limit attendance to reduce lag for good reason. So I’m pretty much joking. Though that’s why I’m a proponent of having fashion shows in multiple time slots.

And I’m pretty low on the fashion totem pole, not directly reviewing much on my own blog and only doing the interview stuff on LL. I do want to meet (and interview) the Lu’s (and JuJu) sometime.

I’m also not in the Paper Couture group, I had to drop it to make room for another. (Damn the 25 group limit) So that’s yet another reason why I didn’t get an invite.

I’ve picked up Rode Island from the new collection and will go back for more as time and $L (and memory) permit.
