Huge summer swimwear roundup
By Celebrity Trollop | July 7, 2007
It’s blazing hot where I live right now, and spending a hot afternoon by the pool is a great way to take the edge of the heat. These swimsuits will keep you cool, but looking hot. Enjoy.
I wanted to lead off with one of the most unique bikini designs I’ve tried on in a while. This is Etain Peregrine’s Primkini in Nocturne. Yes, it really is all primwork — with all of the interesting advantages and disadvantages that it brings. On the plus side it really allows for outstanding depth and detail to be worked into an outfit. On the negative side, it can be difficult to fit it to your avatar’s shape — although Etain includes three different sizes of each piece to help you find the perfect fit. Almost inevitably though, some adjustment will be necessary. You can find the primkini in the dark purple I chose to shoot, and several other colors at Dark Eden in Indigo (161, 184, 501) (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: Yes)
I love the contrast and studies in the shades of brown wrapped up in this really cute bikini design by Emma Gilmour of Sand Shack Surf Company. The name of this bikini is the Waikini and does invoke flavors of tropical paradise with the flower petal accents and the warm sand tan contrasted against the ochre sunset tones painted against the deep rich mahogany brown. As you might expect from a place called the Sand Shack Surf Company, Emma has designed a lot of different swim sets including some really cute designs to benefit RFL. You can shop for these at Emma’s store on Shopping Islands (116, 145, 23) and other locations around SL. (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: Yes)
I’ve been really impressed with the designs Sioxie Legend has been producing lately from her great camis to this O-Ring Bikini design, pictured here in this summer’s chic banana yellow. The O-Ring design comes a multitude different solids and patterns (including the hibiscus print I showed a few days ago announcing the sale at the Second Wave store.) One of the things that I particularly liked in this design was the really lovely shading on the fabric ruching around the O-rings. Stop by to see them at Plush Gamma (101, 207, 21) (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: No)
Raskella Canadeo recently concluded a big sale at her store Blooberry — and she even opened her very own eponymous sim. She just released this really sun drenched polka dotted Summer Vibe design in orange (also available in brown.) Speckled with bright yellows, hot reds and very cool contrasting greens, this outfit is certain to set you up to shine by the pool or beach. You can find it at Blooberry (91, 148, 29) and other locations around SL. (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: No)
I was really taken by this super cute bronze metallic suit with gold sun accents. It’s by newcomer Elena Durnan for her brand DEKA and its called Bronze Dream — I certainly do find it dreamy. Elena has a couple of other designs available at her store in Jingyo 175, 34, 55 but this one was by far my favorite of the bunch. Not only is beautiful, but it’s also an absolute bargain price wise. Stop by and check it out before Elena comes to her senses and marks it up. (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: No)
I was lucky to find out about this new creation by long time designer Lollypop Extraordinaire. Just happened to bump into Lolly’s photographer buying Elka Lehane’s brand new ballet flats. Lollypop has a LOT of different styles of course, but I thought the ombre on this design was truly extraordinary. The design is named Sex on the Beach shown here in Cool Waters and it comes with a skirt layer wrap if you want a little extra modesty, and the shown sunglasses too. Shop for it at Extraordinaire Isle (29, 136) (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: No)
I already showed you one of Kara Eagle’s dresses the other day, now I’d like to show you one of her bikinis from the MO Island fashion show. Although Kara’s store Kiramina has only been around a few months, she’s got a lot of great items already at her store. This Plaid Bikini (shown yellow, but available in several pastels and bold colors, even in a fatpack collection) has a really subtle plaid pattern, so it definitely won’t overwhelm. I really liked the full coverage bottoms. I thought they were refreshingly different from the other boy-short bottom designs with the strappy sides linking front and back. Check out Karamina at Louise (80, 70, 651) (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: No)
Super confident Kirsten Corleone of the boutique Sexy in Pink offers a money-back guarantee if you’re not 110% happy with your purchase. I was really happy with her Turqouise Floral Bikini design. This is a great pattern for a bikini design and it has a lovely cut to it as well. Seeing this color of blue pop off the dark brown really drew my eye right away. You can see this design and a few other swimwear outfits at Athlone 33, 253, 78 (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: No)
Justine Babii wanted to show off a couple of swimsuits designed by Savonah Madonna, so she sent me this photo of two designs. The blue one is called Deep Blue Sea and the one on the right is called Tropical Evening Sheer. They retail for L$150 each. Savonah is a prolific swimwear designers - she has something for every taste and style from eeny weeny meeny bikini to these one piece designs with more coverage. Her store name is Savonah Designs — find a location at Quali, Piccadilly Circus (158, 218, 25) and other locations around Second Life. (S: Yes: R: Yes, F: No)
Raindrop Drinkwater is a designer for A2NZ, and she sent me a selection of several new designs by her brand. One of the things I especially liked from the collection was this one piece set called the Vichy Swimsuit which is shown here in purple/lavendar, but is also available in several different colors. The construction on this set is really outstanding with wonderful shading and wrinkles drawn right on the fabric texture. Check out A2NZ at Crimson 21, 105, 21 and other locations around SL. (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: No)
OK, so technically, we’ve already written about this design, but I thought Addison by designer Kit Maitland of CKS Designs was such a different, novel take on a swimsuit that I’d include it in this round up. Addison is shown here in the blue plaid (continuing a bit of a plaid mini-trend in swimwear design), but you can also get it in some other color selections as well. Addison includes some really wonderful matching flexiprim bow attachments and is just one of four novel swim designs you’ll find at Kit’s store at Selby (43, 31, 59) (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: No)
I first saw this swimsuit at the Girl’s Night Out fashion show way back in February. Designer Callie Cline has really had her hands full getting all of her runway designs recolored, packaged and photographed while toiling on building her brand new sim and launching a new line called Tomboy too. No wonder it’s taken a little while to be released. But the wait has been worth it. I’m showing off the classic St. Tropez design in brown, the same suit that Callie showed off all those months ago on the runway. I’m also wearing a bunch of optional accessories — the hat, the jewelry (choker and earrings). Callie even decided she’d add a flexi-skirt to this swimsuit which really amps up the versatility. You can find St. Tropez and all of the accessories shown (even the shoes) at calliefornia 224, 192, 22. (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: Yes)
Without any fanfare new designer Yvette Kumsung slipped me this Malibu Bikini outfit. I liked it so much I decided to go see the rest of her collection where I discovered that Yvette offers the traditional ethnic dress of Korea: hanbok at her store. (There are hanbok for men, too, but I only noticed designs for women.) This bikini has some great construction details — look at the scalloped fabric along the bust, for example. Visit Yvette’s store *yk at Boksik (10, 92, 78) (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: No)
Nyte Caligari released three swimsuits about a month ago including this one called Festoon Tropical Bikini. It has a companion bikini, as well, but I really liked the cut and design of this one so here it is. Like the first bikini, this design has a traditional cut bottom with a higher leg band. Nyte also made a really sexy one piece design which has been really popular with shoppers at her store Nyte ‘n’ Day. Check them out at Couture Isle (125, 125). (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: Yes)

Ok, I knew you had a bikini problem, but I wasn’t prepared to call it a full blown addiction until now. Celeb. Rehab. ;)
