For whatever reason, there’s been a lot of nautical and sailor related outfits released over the past several weeks. I decided to round up several of them for your shopping convenience.
Dakota Buck leads off with Miss Solveig, a delightfully retro polka dot system mesh skirt and croptop set — it really reminds me of the recent Christina Aguilera video. One of my favorite touches about this design are the details on the buttons on the back of the skirt. You will probably want to wear a skirt shape for this outfit — the skirt mesh isn’t terribly flattering for most “normal” shapes. You can find it at Saavy?, Froth 103, 236, 23 and other locations around the grid. (S: Yes, R: No, F: No)

A two-fer by Chloris Hathor of G.L.A.M. (Sunset Arts 145, 190, 24). These are two of three recent nautical themed releases by GLAM. With spare, clean and elegant design lines and really lovely finishing touches — shadowing even on the buttons for example — this trio (duo shown here) will be certain to make a splash at any summertime outing. Also, be certain to head next door to Miam Miam to check out a really wonderful anchor themed necklace and earring set which can be the ne plus ultra finishing touch for your sailor set. It must have been fate that lead me to Neferia Abel’s blog where I happened to see this pretty little dress at her store Ivalde (Alebi 195, 221, 21). It’s available in several different colors, but shown here in white/black to add some variety along side the traditional blue/white color combination. I find this unpretentious and uncluttered design really appealing — and if really you’re feeling like mixing it up, you can pair the skirt from the blue set the blouse from this set. Tuli Asturias had been away from Second Life for a while, but she’s recently returned with a huge new line up of clothing and skins (find her store at Plush Rho 92, 228, 22) — all of it excellent. One of the designs she created was this fun sailor themed outfit named Keeley available in navy (shown) and black. It’s the smallest detail, but what I really liked about Keeley was the detail on the satin bow — it’s drawn on the shirt texture; quite impressive. (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: Yes)
I lead off this post with Dakota Buck, and a few outfits later, Antonia Marat (aka Miss Solveig) perhaps the queen of rockabilly in Second Life returns a favor with a sailor outfit named in honor of Dakota Buck. I’d say Dakota (the outfit, not the avatar) is not very typical of most artilleri designs style wise, but it definitely has the same standard of quality in construction. Dakota features a prim piece over glitch pants to help get around the limitations of the skirt mesh, and like Keeley above it comes with matching socks. You can find Dakota at the brand new artilleri sim 89, 125, 26. It’s worth a trip just to see the build which is full of vintage fun. (S: Yes, R: No, F: No)
Popfuzz Bamboo showed off this outfit and another sister sailor set at the MO Island Fashion Show last night. (More about that show soon.) For those of you more inclined to buckle your swashes than swab a deck, she also made two cute flexi-pirate themed dresses. One of the things I’ve always enjoyed about Popfuzz is that she loves to create an entire outfit — not just the clothing, but also shoes and fun little accessories to go with them too. This set came complete with a sailor’s hat and a matching pair of shoes. You can visit her main store at Popfuzz (64, 92, 51) and few other locations around Second Life. (S: Yes, R: Yes, F: Yes)
And last — but definitely not least another designer from the MO Island show newcomer Kara Eagle of Karamina (Louise 80, 70, 651) showed off several pieces from her collection thus far, including three different sailor/nautical themed outfits. This one is called “Starboard” and Kara told me she felt like it was the best representative of the sailor themes she’s worked up (so far.) Aside from the sailor outfits, Kara’s also worked on several pieces of swimwear, some really cute summer dresses in a number of sunny plaid designs, as well as several separates — and even her own line of skins which I’m modelling in this photo. Oh this is just what I was looking for!! Sailor outfits
Can’t get enough of them! Thanks for collecting them in one place
