Maitreya Feeds My Addiction

2

maitreya_wedges_001.jpgEarlier today Onyx Leshelle, the talented designer of Maitreya, sent me some of her newest shoes. When she did, SL was still all wacky and the shoes would not rez, or even attach. That’s one of the most annoying messages you can get “an attachment is pending for this spot” blergh! So I just had to come back now, before I leave for RL work, to try them on… and blog them, because they are adorable. These scultped wedges come in totally girly texture combinations that make them great for combining with all kinds of outfits. This is a quick post as I do have to run now, but anyway.. here they are!!!!

New Blog Roundup

3

Your trusty blog mistress has been busy again fielding all the great new blogs out there. I still haven’t been able to get to all the sites on our blogroll, but I did visit quite a few of them this week when time allowed.

solange.jpgThis week I picked a great outfit by Solange! Fashions (their blog is here). This outfit is called Romance and came out in June. (I think Solange has had at least one newer release that hasn’t hit the blog yet). If you’re familiar Solange Cerveau’s massive new lines, then you understand the delay, as the new outfits often include jewelry and shoes especially made to match. (Romance has a cute shoe that is offered as an add-on). As a side story, I visited the store after reading the blog and was enraptured by their Gunslinger line of boots. Take a look or stay tuned as you’ll see them here in the near future I’m sure!

Romance sells for L$325 and includes the cute bustier top with a couple of pairs of glitch pants, sheer flexi prim arm ruffles and sheer flexi prim skirts of two lengths. The skin in the picture is Rose by Realskin. The hair is called Truth, a great new style by Cake, and the necklace is by artilleri.

For the Bloggy Stuff:

This week we added the following designer websites.
Adimu Specialty Salon
I’m a Gracie Girl!!
Lilygrace Design
Marlys Vintage Clothing & Hair
Mercury::Couture
Mhaijik Things
Modesüchtig
**Redesigns A.D.**
Relika
Simone!
SLAB

And we made the following changes
Updated ETD website to current.

If you have a blog that needs adding to or updating on our blogroll feel free to IM me in-world or email me at justinebabii (at) yahoo.com

Seeking Miss SL Tropics 2007

3

MissSLTropicsEntriesCall_1.jpgSecond Style columnist and Aspire model Isabella Sampaio is looking for “Miss SL Tropics 2007″ — a modeling contest which includes a huge collection of prizes including cash, an appearance in Second Style Magazine, a story in Aspire’s magazine, a shopping spree and much much more. The entry deadline is August 5, and you can get all of the details about how to enter by checking out Isabella’s blog post here.

Twenty finalists and two alternates will compete August 26th (This happens to be one of the days of SLCC by the way) for a panel of judges. Current Aspire models are not eligible to enter this contest. Isabella also writes: “Excessive photoshopping is *not* encouraged. We want to see the real you. Simple, stylish and elegant is your best approach!” Maybe you can be crowned Miss SL Tropics!

Weekend sales

1

If you have any Lindens left over after your stroll through Relay for Life, check out these sales going on this weekend:

50_for_500.jpgCiera Bergman and her fellow business associates on “Hefferoo” shopping sim are having a huge 50% off sale including fabulous hair from Analog Dog, as well as shapes, clothing by Vitamin Ci, of course and more. You can read more details about the sale here on Ciera’s blog post. The sale goes until July 30, and it includes most older releases, but not new releases – so if you’ve had your eye on something for a while, this would be a good time go shop for it. Hefferoo (155, 168).

lilygrace.jpgEyva Matova is holding a L$50 inventory clearance sale at her store lilygrace as she prepares to relaunch her clothing label with a new name. Lilygrace is a pretty new place to shop and through July 31st (12p SLT) you can buy everything she offers for L$50. Eyva explains more about the sale (and you can browse some of her designs) by checking out her blog here. Norcott Center (51, 136).

Nyte Caligari is developing brand new skins and in preparation, she’s now offering her current skin line for an incredible L$495/skin bargain. Nyte writes on her blog:

I’m getting a little tired of the cartoony appearance of them… so will be working a lot on fixing that. And I’ve gotten lots of good feedback on the current skins that I’m keeping in mind as I go along. I’m looking forward to doing the makeup and will be including more natural makeups (natural was a fairly common request).

She plans to release the new skins around September 1st. You can shop Nyte n’ Day on Couture Isle (46, 124, 50).

Know about other sales? Post them in the comments!

Relay For Life 2007: Goodies, Auctions and Mucho Linden$

8

[update GH] slurls are fixed, as well as the timetables and Barnesworth sent me some more info about the house as well.

Ok.. the 32 Relay For Life sims are pretty crowded with builders and contributors right now who are working in a frenzy to get everything ready in time for the start of Relay 2007. That could be the reason why I have not been totally spammed with ads for this post. If I had not been busy finishing our Shopaholics camp, I would have walked a first lap across the sims (more than 7.5 miles or 12 Kms) to shoot some photos for this post, but for now I’ll have to go with the ads I’ve been provided with.

First here are the official timetables and a slurl to the Ceremony Center which is a great point to start exploring the sims

timeschedule1.jpgtimeschedule2.jpg

rflpip.jpgTorrid Midnight, captain of Pixels in Pink, sent me this ad which shows so well what PiP is about this year… they are pink… and black… noir. I took a quick peak at their build and oh lordy.. have people been busy there. Awesome build! PiP will have a series of auctions, one of a kinds, some RFL classics, so if you missed out on them last year, go grab them now. Who knows what will be out next year.

RFL_rose_farina.jpgRose Farina, also affiliated to PiP, sent me the things she made for RFL. The fairy wings are so cute and only 3 of the Serenity oufits will be sold!!! Dreams of Venice is my favorite I think, but then again, I love black and white for formal attire. Southern Charm features the cute straw hats from Rose’s brand Rose petal creations which I have seen blogged before. I’m so pleased to see that she made them available on the campsite too

RFL_Catt__s_creations.jpgCattrina Careless from Catt’s Creations also send me one of her specials. I don’t know if it will be on display on the RFL sims, but it is in her shop anyway.  What I love in most of the RFL Specials that I have seen during this campaign is that all content creators have tried to make it really worth the donation. This one is no exception. The pants with and without the bow,  the various skirt possibilities tons of different layers. Just the way we all like it. Cattrina stayed perfectly in theme with the vibrant pink details on this dress.  If you buy this set, there will be a special incentive for you, you get a 500 L$ voucher to spend on other Catt’s Creations items. Isn’t that sweet?

RFL_apollo.jpgWhile working on our own campsite with some teammembers, I remembered the incredibly funny purse that Caroline Apollo made a couple of months ago and I thought it might be so much fun to have that in a RFL version to entertain your fellow Relayers with while walking the track. I know we had a really good time with the male version of it while having a break from settin up the plot, driving around with wacky yellow cars on the sim. I IMmed Caroline and asked if she was willing to make it available for RFL day and she was all for it, so: available at Caroline’s shop and on the Shopaholics campsite today: the RFL Random Purse.

RFL_calla_ondeday.jpgTigerlily Koi and Haedon Quine from Calla have been so wonderful this Relay, with tons of specially textured hair for the good cause, and now they have even made some specials just for Relay day. Calla hair specials are available on the Shopaholics campsite in the big pink and purple tent, together with special releases from Talyn Barett from Analise, the designs from Nicky Ree and Shai Delacroix that I have shown before. Oh and when I just logged back on, I found that Shai did make another special, of which I have no photo, but you can see it on her blog.

RFL_barnes.jpgLast for now, but certainly not least today as far as RFL is concerned, I would like to show you this one of a kind house that Barnesworth Anubis made. This house is not rezzed on the RFL sims, but on the land that comes with it. Go take a look if you want something truly unique. Be prepared to pay good L$ though as last year prices where quite spectacular for charity. Barnes will also offer about 10 hours to finalize set up and customize the house for you.

Come and Relay with us today. The teams and organisation can do all they want, but Relay is a huge success thanks to you all, the SL residents, who have contributed and donated so generously throughout the whole campaign. And remember, EVERY donation is appreciated. Whether it is 10k or 1 L$. If every resident would donate 1 L$ today, that would mean more than 8 million L$ for cancer research on top of the 27 million that were raised already. Now THAT makes a difference!

Thank you all so much!!!!

Congratulations to Scarlett Niven

Snapshot_009.jpgMyself along with Bianca Darling (of Aspire Modeling Agency) and MJ Garrett (from MTV’s the Real World Philadelphia) had the very difficult task of choosing an overall winner from a line up of 22 beautiful models wearing some of Second Life’s best lingerie. Scarlett is wearing INSOLENCE by camilla Yosuke in the divine milk chocolate color, along with a skin by Lovey Darling. It was an incredibly difficult choice to make, especially since every model had a great unique look and take on her own avatar and the lingerie she wanted to show off in a live feed to the simultaneous RL event in Chicago. Thank you to all of the models, fellow judges, MC of the evening, Daphne Molinari and event producer, Lauren Millionsofus.

Scarlett will compete against the winner of the August event for a 2 page spread in a future issue of Second Style magazine.

You can see more photos of the event and the models by checking out EnCore Mayne’s photo set. JenzZa Misfit of the AvaStar has several great photos. And finally, Justine Babii posted a huge photo set of her own on flickr too.

P.S. A lot of people are asking me about the hair I’m wearing in these photos — that’s “Kendall” by Six Kennedy of Gurl 6 (shop for it at the Girlywood sim.) Very recent release — isn’t it great?

From the Runways…

runway_items2a.jpgLast weekend I made it to a bunch of fashion shows and saw many many cute things. Here are but a few. This first picture highlights two of my faves from two different shows. The outfit is the Satin Pantsuit with Bowtie Neck from G.L.A.M.. The outfit retails for just L$200.

The cute little bag under my arm was made by newcomer Precious Vuckovic whose bags were featured at the Emilia Redgrave show. This bag is called Pochette Milano in Black and White and the detailing is scrumptuous. RL design lines executed beautifully in the metaverse. Her bags are available on the 2nd floor at Redgrave. The pochette retails for L$250

runway_items.jpg This outfit is also from G.L.A.M. and is also just L$200. It is called Satin and Tweed with Bowtie Neck. With both outfits you can wear it without the prim collar and still look good. The belt is the pants layer and the slacks are the underwear layer, so you have the option of wearing the pants belted or not. They also come with prim pant legs, which I opted not to wear in the pic.

The bag is Sac de Ville Paris in Brown and Black. It retails for L$400.

runway_items1.jpg This last outfit is from Simone! who filled my last three weekends with fashion shows, each for a new line. This line, business wear, features some wonderfully versatile dresses for L$250-275. The suit I’m wearing in the picture is Attache and sells for L$350. I’m wearing Attache in Cafe. It also comes in six other colors. Two versions of the flexi skirt, white and gray, come in each set, along with shorts, stockings, undershirt and jacket.

The clutch under my arm is again from PV design. It is the Portefeuille ‘Oceane’ black pattern I. It retails for L$200 and attaches to your left shoulder.

credits: Hair in pics 1 & 2 is Sasha from Analog Dog. Hair in pic 3 is Electron from Nuclear Boutique. Skin in all pics is from Minnu Model Skins.

July 28: Relay for Life 2007

3

On Saturday July 28 the annual SL Relay for Life will take place. A 24 hrs walkathon on a big part of the grid, for survivors of cancer, their family , friends and basically everyone who cares.
I have previously blogged about RFL, and wrote a small article about it in the last issue of Second Style, but as SLRFL ’07 is about to come to an end, I thought it would be good to write about it again, because I cannot stress enough on the importance, not only of your L$ donations to RFL (almost 27 million to date!!!!), but even more than that: your commitment, your involvement in supporting people who are fighting cancer and who are surviving also on events like RFL, because it’s so empowering.

mara_add.jpgI would like to call, for a last time this edition, all designers who have made specials for this final part of the Relay campaign and for this occasion I would like to go beyond fashion and apparel. So whatever special designs you have, clothes, shoes, houses, gadgets, whatever, send me your ads, before Friday 27 noon PDT, and I will do a mega post with all the goodies that will be available exclusively for this Relay event. I will need a jpg ad which is NOT bigger than 900×900 (no need to be square though) in my mailbox at grazia underscore horwitz at yahoo dot it. A SLurl link, and if you are part of a RFL team, the team’s name is handy for people to locate your goodies.

southern_comfort.jpgIn the meantime 2 teasers already: my team mates Shai Delacroix and Nicky Ree have made fabulous one-day-only-grab-as-many-as-you-like-because-after-Relay-they-are-gone-forever outfits. Nicky has made Mara, a gown in champagne or black that comes with tons of possibilities for the skirt. Sleek gown, bell gown, train or not, or rather a sassy cocktail version? It’s all there for you. This gown is somewhat more expensive than usual, but then again… it’s all for the cause! And Shai has made an outfit for the stylish men that care for a good cause. This suit has the casual chic that we know from Casa del Shai designs. The funniest detail is in the back… she will know why you spend L$, you handsome man…… For this suit also goes: grab it on the 28th.. because it will NOT be in Shai’s shop after Relay for life! And you’ll be so sorry you’ve missed it!

Relay for Life starts at 2 pm PDT with an opening ceremony, and the first lap for survivors. After that everyone is invited to walk the track and visit the sponsor teams camp sites. The Relay will go on for 24 hours and there will be different themes on different times. With the RFL specials on Friday I will also post some more info about the timeschedule.

Give me something to do on my Friday night, send me your ads!!! Oh…. well, one thing… if the amount of ads is truly overwhelming, I reserve the right to make a selection, but I’ll do my best!!
