Lacôme Reveals New Trésor Ambassador Live on SL

3

Kate_Winslet_Tresor.jpg As I write this, I am attending a special event in the Paris 1900 sim. Lancôme has chosen to share with us live the revelation of their new Trésor ambassador. Right now, in a special venue in Paris, 280 VIP’s have gathered for a fancy dinner party in honour of the new ambassador, which is the lovely british actress Kate Winslet.

Just a quickie blog, but still, wanted to share it with you … and it has not yet been on the RL press, actually, right now it’s not even out on the Lancôme site, so I kind of have a real scoop here.

Hand-painted cuteness

sas-sa-fras (n) – an American tree, Sassafras albidum, of the laurel family, having egg-shaped leaves and long clusters of greenish-yellow flowers.

There. Your botany lesson for the day.

Following a FashCon notice I saw about these lovely flowery jeans, I went to look at this store, named Sassafras (weren’t you hoping that’s where I was leading with the random dictionary entry?). So far the selection is small, but filled with some sweet little hand-painted numbers.

sassafras_duckie.jpg

If there are two truths in my (real and second) life, they are this:

1) Jay likes ducks.

2) Jay likes pirates.

So of course, in addition to the jeans (really, take a close look at them…the flowers are beautiful!), I had to snap up these tops. The Duckie tops are just too sweet for words…until you look closely at the Alternaduckie version (both are included in the same purchase, shirt layer) and realize there’s more to the top than just a pretty duck face. The light tones of the shirts make them seem very soft and worn, and make me think of the type of piece that you find in the sleepwear section of your favorite clothing store and buy with the intention of wearing as daily wear (oh c’mon, you know you’ve done it once or twice).sassafras_004.jpg

And then, the Haul Away Joe top. Now, remember my #2 truth? Yaaarrr. (I had to, sorry.) Pirate gear meets cutewear with this soft little number. Yes, it’s on the jacket layer, and has some very nice shading and detailing. The one thing I noticed about this top though, is that the skull-and-crossbones emblem seems to be a little faded. Well, I wore it while swimming away from my captivity from the evil pirates, and salt water wreaks havoc on cotton…what did you expect?!

Sculptified.. Ginny’s latest

4

Inventory clearance sale closed, lots of room for new goodies at Last Call and oh my… it is good indeed.  Ginny has released a sculptified collection with the best ever prim work I have seen so far. This new technique is evolving FAST.

LC070607_002.jpgDahlia, the outfit on the left is one of the more casual outfits in this release.  And the jeans are the prelude of a whole new series of jeans at Last Call. The come with two different version of sculpted legs. Flared and slouchy. The floral tank is just too sweet and will definitely be a basic in my wardrobe for the next few weeks and the mini sweater, it’s included in 5 different colours in the folder so you won’t have to wear the same colour all the time. Davida, to the right, is one of Ginny’s favourites because of the awesome amount of detailing. She has put so much work and skill in it. Not to mention the love that she obviously must have for designing. The suit is finished with a glittery cowled handkerchief top that, as Ginny states, one could only get away with in SL.

The jewelry with Dahlia is Earthtones recent release Seahorse Frolic (love it) and with Davida I wear Elexor Matador’s new shiny set Platinum Tanzanite (must have).

070607_003.jpgPassing on to the more city chic with the delightful Kamryn on the left. This is Heidi hitting town.. hard. This suit rocks. The puffed sleeves and the vest give this suit a deliciously wicked sexyness. Everything comes on different layers now for which I absolutely worship Ginny. It is so much fun to mix & match with Last Call’s outfits these days. Ally is a suit with an attitude. The leopard skirt is definitely daring. It takes guts to wear an animal printed short skirt, show cleavage and yet be totally classy, but it works out just fine in this outfit. You can either wear it with just the bodice, or like in my case, with the satine drape sleeved shrug.

Credits for the jewelry again go to Elexor Matador for the gunmetal ruby teardrop set and to Lucas lameth at Earthtones for the highly detailed Anchors, Toss and Tassel set.

LC070607.jpgAnd when the sun sets over the wonderful Toscana sim where I shot these pictures, dressing up in sheer fabric and lace is really quite logical as the sim has very romantic scenery at night. Brooke, the black outfit has this peasant look, well.. faintly peasant look that is just lovely. The primwork on the skirt is old fashioned Last Call super quality and the ruffled top with sculpted poofy sleeves is delicious. Just make sure you are fully rezzed before showing yourself to your audience, as unrezzed sculpties look just hilarious :-) . Greta, shown here in vampy red is a gown with a distinct medieval look. The sleeves consist of 2 sculpties each and the sheer skirt just spices it up. I am absolutely smitten with the neckline of this gown. So elegant!

The jewelry in these two photo’s is all from Elexor. The platinum diamond step set on Brooke and the ruby teardrop set, with the necklace instead of the choker on Greta.

The hair in all the photos is ETD’s Tyra in smoke burnt, the skin is Naughty Design’s Zoe Gold (Smoke/Red Foil). The shape is not my usual one, I made one to go with this post as I liked a bit of a darker and more languid look with these clothes.

Free prim skirt builder

7

Jennyfur Peregrine posted a very nice article (including a SLurl and mini-tutorial) about making prim skirts with a free prim skirt rezzing device. There are commercial versions of this technology in world, but they typically cost thousands of Lindens. This is a free tool to help content creators build prim skirts quickly and easily.

If you’re looking for some help handling through slippery flexi prims this should help immensely.

Fashion Challenge #5: High Fantasy Fantasy

5

Snapshot_0031.jpgYenneffer Dielli wants you to show off your best fantasy outfits and locations! With RenderGlow and the new WindLight beta viewer, there’s never been a better time to take some really amazing looking unretouched photos from inside Second Life — just like this one — a total unretouched photo. As usual, the winner of this challenge will win L$250 and the right to name our next fashion challenge theme!

To stop gaming of the stars rating, I’m going to take the top three photos by overall vote count, without regard to the averaged number of stars.

How to enter in four easy steps:

  1. Create an outfit that meets the challenge theme. This challenge’s theme is “High Fantasy” — think sorceress, drow, or elves, to name just a few possibilities.
  2. Submit your photo to snapzilla using the special Fashion Challenge email address: fc@slpics.com (Learn how to submit photos to snapzilla — it’s really easy!) Please, one entry per person.
  3. Rate your photos and other photos submitted. (See all fashion challenge submissions.)
  4. Second Style bloggers and magazine staff are not permitted to enter or win (but we can vote on submissions!)

I’ll take the top three photos.

We’ll choose the winner by voting on the finalists here. The top voted photo here will be the winner!

Preliminaries go from now until June 17, 2007 at 11:59 pm SLT. Our finals will go from the 18th until the end of June 20th, 2007. Good luck and have fun! I can’t wait to see what fantastic submissions come through.

Beachlife

3

I was wandering Mathieu Basiat’s wonderful island sims when Kit Maitland from CKS Designs dropped her latest creations on me. Since most of it was beach wear, I decided to get changed at the spot and take some pictures to share with you.

kit_001.jpgThis lovely swimsuit is called Addison. From the 4 different that Kit made, this is her, and my, favourite. This is what Kit says about it:

The Sophisticate. She enjoys spending her beach time on the sand…reading…building castles…soaking up the sun. Her quirky, somewhat aloof personality fascinates the boys…after all…who doesn’t like a challenge?!

And indeed, I love the St. Raphael style (not St. Tropez… too much nouveau riche these days) of this suit. The texture, the ribbons. Beachbabe cuteness.

kit_003.jpgAnd after a sunny day on the beach, this next outfit is perfect for some wining and dining at the boulevard. Or just stick around on the beach and sip your cockails watching the sunset. This dress is called Princess and with the lovely floral texture and the cute satin prim bow this dress has a sort of regal simplicity to it. Style does not need to be complicated. Kit made it for herself to wear at a Relay for Life prom party but it is out in the shop now for you all to have. Kit says she’s on this retro 60′s wave.. well honey… ride the surf because I love it!

Making Second Waves

1

Sorry I haven’t been around much lately…SL and RL have both not been very kind. But I submit as a peace offering, goodies for your perusal!

Also, I have been messing around with the new Firstlook viewer (yay to Windlight’s pretty skies…boo to hardware lighting and creepy glowing eyes), so until Windlight is part of mainstream SL, I will mention if the photo is taken in that viewer, because lighting will not be the same.

My normal MO regarding the FashCon group is to click through every notice without looking, then at some point during the day, go through the notice archive and pick out the notices from new vendors, and from the older ones that I’m interested in. One name that I’ve seen come up consistently, yet kept passing by due to lack of time or whatnot, is Second Wave Apparel. It wasn’t until a bikini short freebie came out, that I thought to myself “Okay Jay, march your butt over there and look.”

Sioxie_tops.jpg

What I found there was a store full of charming jeans, casual corsets (hooray!), t-shirts, and sexy, soft tops. I’m modeling the Crop Tops, which have some of the most convincing fur and brocade patterns I’ve had the pleasure of slipping onto my pixel body. The shading is very soft yet made with broad lines, giving the illusion of heavy fabric. These come in a variety of colors and fur types, and (joy of joys!) in all three top layers.

(Hair by ETD, skin by CS, pants by Last Call, necklace by Essentia)

sioxie_bikini_001.jpg

And here’s the shorts-bikini, one of the two that was passed out in FashCon. Yes, free – so there’s your initiative to check this designer out for yourself.

The store can be found here: Second Wave Apparel

Gypsy Contest During Relay Fair

0

I’m so excited. At 1 pm SLT the Charity Relay Fair will start and all the teams have been so great at creating the most fun rides and mini events possible. As Celebrity blogged before, my team will offer tarot readings to the people who come and visit us at the fair, but there is more. Shai and I decided to run a little contest on our piece of land. We have placed a snapshot board against the central tree, where you can leave a photo of yourself in your cutest, hottest, most creative gypsy attire.

gypsy.jpgThere are but a few rules: photos must be taken on the Shopaholics Charity Relay Fair plot and they must be taken during the event. We will ask our fabulous tarot readers to pick out 3 winners at the end of the event, and they will receive each a 1,000 L$ Casa del Shai gift voucher, sponsored by the Shopaholics team. Oh, the photo in this post wil not be eligible for winning. It would not be fair, as you all will stand no chance against this lovely gypsy girl. It is my team mate Nicky Ree showing a special RFL Gypsy release that she made together with Shai. It is available at the Shopaholics place.

Hope to see you in a bit and please, help fighting cancer, donate generously in all the purple kiosks. You cant miss them.. they are everywhere!!!

Reader Style

2

Oh my…. Two weeks have passed again and there are some wonderful new photos in the Readerstyle category on Snapzilla.

Readerstyle_Launa.jpgThis time I was so impressed by Launa Fauna’s photo. Yet another perfect example how casual can be so stylish.
Hair: Mofumo, *SHOP SEU*
Necklace: Queen of Hearts, L&E
Bag: Vagabond Bag, Paper Couture
Shirt: Trixie Tee Untucked – Melon, Celestial Studios
Jeans: LF Ingenue jeans, LF Fashions

Ok you’ll say… that’s not fair. Launa being one of SL’s best photographers and such. No wonder she submits an awesome photo. May be true, but still… I love it.

Readerstyle_Candy.jpgBut, I also would like to share Candy Lemmon’s look with you. It is such a happy outfit, and all the flowers, I love it (loving mood today). So pretty.
