My Brand New Skin

5

The other week I wrote about the fabulous new skins at Adam ‘n Eve, and how I had to tweak my shape to have them look as good on me as on the creator, Sachi Vixen. When we were looking at these skins together, Sachi just couldn’t get what it was with my mouth that made it look so odd in her skins. So I passed her a copy of my shape to play with and figure it out. The result of her fiddling with my shape is, you won’t believe it, an entire new skin line that she called Grazia. I am so honoured, and so pleased with the result.

A_E_grazia_1.jpgWhile working on it, Sachi would contact me on a regular basis, asking what features I thought were important in this new skin and she has taken all my suggestions into consideration and worked them into this skin, together with her own ideas about a skin that would look good on me.

As said, the initial reason for creating the skin was the mouth. It turns out my mouth is relatively small, whereas Sachi’s is a bit bigger, so she had to work around it to make it look good, something in which she has totally succeeded. Other features that are different with respect to Sachi’s other skins are the collarbone which has been enhanced, the spine that looks softer and more real and the belly button that is extremely natural. Futhermore she enhanced the shading on the breasts (no Celeb…. no bewbies.. not even this time ;-P) and she created a new, and, if I may say so, totally adorable tush especially for this skin. It has the cutest dimples just above it…

This skin is fully moddable, and that created some more challenges. She had to make sure that the eyebrows, that on the original skin are a bit reddish brown and that I made little darker, would cover the system brows. The same goes for the nips, that are slightly bigger than you might be used to, but they look very nice and soft. The big advantage is that you can tweak the skin to your personal preferences, making it slightly darker of lighter, adding some freckles and definition. You can even adapt the make up using the sliders, although that will work better with the lighter make ups and not so well with the darker ones. For now there are two make up sets available, but Sachi told me that eventually she will add more and a darker tan base as well for the darker skin lovers at her shop in Genesis.

Tip of the day: I have discovered that creating a baldy for the brows can be very helpful in making a skin more personal. I don’t need it on this skin, but I have been making one for Sachi’s Eve skin after I posted it last week, because I thought the brows looked a bit pointy on me. It is all about making your shape and your skin work together to make you look your best!

The hair is Gurl6′ City Gurl in black and the bikini is the Heart bikini from Chic Boutique.

Soooo pretty. TBH though, I don’t get the “create a baldy thing” – is that to put my own eyebrows on a skin? I wear a baldy under my hair but I still have the eyebrows from the skin I am wearing. I have been in SL since last September but this is one thing I still don’t get.

Hey Gillian, to answer your question the avatar hair or ‘baldy’ is on the avatar hair, it covers the SL standard hair for your prim wigs where most settings should be 0 but the hair also has an eyebrows section. In your shape, which shows on any skin, you can edit the eyebrow position and shape (the colour is painted on and uneditable unless it is a moddable skin). In hair > eyebrows what you can edit is the lower three or four sliders, the arc, the position (make the brows lower or higher (lower makes them thinner), and the point of the brows.

Grazia you look gorgeous! I swear you look better in it than I do wearing your shape in it!

ahhhh thank you, sachi :) Agree, gorgeous skin! I saw the notice about this one and am off to try demos.

Grazia, I said it on Sachi’s web site and I’ll say it again here: these skins are just as lovely as their namesake. On your avatar it looks graceful and elegant. Great work, Sachi.

Bouncing ideas off of a business partner, friend or even just a random person is an essential part of an effective creative process. Sachi, your incorporating someone else’s feedback shows just how considerate you are of how others will feel in this skin. It’s important because one’s skin is the most intimate and personal article one will ever buy in-world. Kudos to you.

Thank you for your lovely words Catero, it’s really special when people take time to notice that you put care and attention into the things you make.

Like everyone else, I have a favourite skin that I like to wear, my Pandora, but I recognise that not everyone’s shape works in one skin so I try to give people who come to my shop a choice and I do enjoy making different skins, challenging myself and striving for perfection all the time.

Grazia’s skin does not suit my shape, but wow, looks wonderful on her so I am delighted with it!
