Chloe by RaC, greatly improved
By Celebrity Trollop | April 30, 2007
Back in December, I wrote a long post about the Chloe skins by Mallory Cowen of Raspberry and Cow (RaC). I loved it then — and I still love it now, although side-by-side, it’s easy to see the flaws in the skin that annoyed my fashion blogger colleague Sabrina Doolittle at LindenLifestyles. But about a week ago, I got a note and an updated set of skins from Mallory. She wrote, “I’ve totally redone the body work on the Chloe skins.” And she really has — it’s a quantum leap. (NSFW photo behind the fold.)
The main thing that I just absolutely adored about the original Chloe skin was the face. I am very pleased to say that it has hardly changed at all. In the inset, there’s a large cutaway of the face for your examination.
As if it isn’t obvious enough, the most improvements can been seen on the torso — highlighted here with a big red oval — that’s where the most time and effort has been spent on skin clean up. Everything here — thankfully — has been improved, from the highlighting on the tummy that annoyed Sabrina so much to the shading around the breasts. Most of the highlighting has been tamed, and some of the shadowing made more subtle.
Certain features have a bit of ways to go to reach the absolute pinnacle of skin design, in my opinion. The joint shading in particular isn’t especially strong, and the feet could also use further refinement. All of those points taken into account, though, I have to say that Chloe remains — by far — one of the best looking dark skins I’ve seen in Second Life. I wore the original set often and I am definitely going to enjoy wearing the revised version just as much. It’s just that in Chloe 2.0, I might start wearing bikinis a little bit more often.
RaC skins and other Mallory Cowen designs can be found on RaC City sim.

Wow that does look a lot better! Also, assuming it’s the new one on the left (it’s been a while since I looked at these), I can’t help noticing that collarbones and neck cords are also new and improved and veddy veddy nice looking!

Posted by: Vel Noarlunga on May 1st, 2007 at 2:58 amThe new shading on the stomache makes me curious about the shading on the back, which I found the weakest feature in this skin. Off to RaC for demos when the grid is back up :-)
