Bump: Miss L’Oreal Paris contestant list posted

By Celebrity Trollop | March 31, 2007

worthwhile.jpgBump: Just wanted to post this photo of the tiara and Little Jimmy Brown. I had a chance to see it in person last night, and it’s incredible how light reflects off the facets of the prims. Anyway, the finals for the event are today, at noon SLT, on Aspire Isle 112, 99, 27.

Bianca Darling posted the 20 finalists for the title of Miss L’Oreal Paris in Second Life on the Aspire blog. They are: Sayara Suen, Happy Elytis, Alissa Bright, Sandrine Beauchamp, Louange Mathys, Saty Beleza, Ana Lutetia, Natalia Zelmanov, Kelly Bellman, Iris Seale, Violet Xingjian, Megan Morigi, Cindy Crimson, Colleen Desmoulins, Celebrity Trollop, Callie Cline, Stephania Marx, Jaydei Benmergui, Isabella Sampaio, and Kryptonia Paperdoll.

The finalists will be taking part in a pageant next Saturday, March 31st at 12 pm SLT. Each contestant will be showcasing a classy casual, swimwear and formal look for a panel of L’Oreal Paris beauty experts who will determine the winner. The winning avatar will have her image shown on a special L’Oreal website, win a supply of L’Oreal Paris cosmetics for her typist and receive a modeling slot with the Aspire agency.

jimmy_brown.jpgAs if that prize package wasn’t enough, renowned Second Life jewelry creator Random Calliope will present the winner with a one-of-a-kind (virtual) gold draped 25 facet diamond encrusted tiara valued at a whopping L$125,000 plus a set of Random’s latest creation “Little Jimmy Brown” (shown left) a stunning 373 prim necklace and earring extravaganza. Plus, each finalist will receive her choice of a set of Random’s WorthWhile jewelry collection.

Good luck and congratulations to all of the contestants!

  2. If I remember my basic economics correctly, in order to have a certain value an item has to have a demand function commensurate with its price.

  3. i notice your name in the list of top 20 celeb! ya still got it girl. good on you.

as to illya, if you saw calliope’s jewelry, you’d know its value. no one has to go to school to know that.

  4. Congrats to all 20 contestants!!!

Actually Illya, your economics basics are correct. Celebrity posted a factual statement. The Metaverse Messenger has recently published the prices that have been paid for Calliope’s pieces - Note that they are 1/10 sets, not “one of a kind” as this tiara is.

“Jewelry piece sells for L$50,000″ Front Page http://www.metaversemessenger.com/pdf/2007/02/MM20070227.pdf
On Feb. 11th, his 1/10 Limited Jewelry set “Elizabeth” was acquired by Sherona DeGroot for L$ 40,000. On Feb 24th Larry Pixel paid L$20,000 for 1/10 “Marc loves Cleo” set.. (Page 15 http://www.metaversemessenger.com/pdf/2007/02/MM20070227.pdf
… and the list goes on…. but the truth is that EnCore is right - what is valuable is how the beautiful winner will look wearing it.

  7. I’m sorry, but that has to be the most boring necklace I have seen in a while…and to claim it to be $125,000 is laughable. There are TONS of items in world that are much more elegant and well, better crafted than this cracker jack item. Sorry, this post probably won’t see the light of day, but it needed to be said.

  9. Note to the tiresome ZOMG!!!! ANIMAL TESTING!!eleven!11one crowd: I wear leather frequently, I eat an occasional steak, I think most things are enhanced by adding bacon, and I really enjoy ice cream and cheese. The animal testing conducted by L’Oreal is legislatively mandated, and even the “100% cruelty free” cosmetic lines get away without (new) animal testing because they’re using ingredients which have… duh duh duh… already been tested on animals! ZOMG! If you’re looking to lord your admirable moral purity over me, go somewhere else to do it.

  10. Get a clue, Shrub. Read Georgina’s links. Find one thing better crafted in SL and I’ll buy it. Nothing in SL comes close to Random’s work in craftsmanship, so you’d better be certain of what you’re saying or you’ll have a mob of angry women who KNOW his work hunting you down. :)

Or are you saying we aren’t good judges of quality? In which case you’ll have a mob of angry women hunting you down. lol
