Bump: Fashion Challenge #1: Do you have what it takes?
By Celebrity Trollop | March 9, 2007
Bump: Last day to submit and vote on the first cut of the photos for Fashion Challenge #1. There’s some really really amazing photos in there! The official cut off will be 3/9/07 11:59pm SLT.
The photo to the left is my response to the very first Fashion Challenge: Make hot pink look goth.
If you just started reading the blog, you might be curious about the “Reader Style” panel on the right side of the blog — last year, I encouraged people to submit photos of themselves wearing their favorite SL fashions and submit them to snapzilla for everyone to enjoy. That’s not going away — you still can submit your photos to rs@slpics.com and they’ll still be in the pool to display on the blog.
I’m starting a new snapzilla tie in with this post — Fashion Challenge. What is Fashion Challenge? So glad you asked! Twice a month I’ll provide a new fashion or style theme, then readers can respond to the challenge by creating an outfit and sending a photograph of themselves (and friends too, perhaps!) to snapzilla to share with everyone.
One cool feature about snapzilla is that it lets you rate photo submissions, so I’ll be looking at pictures with the highest ratings which have at least 5 overall votes and choosing three from that pool. (If there aren’t at least three pictures like that for a given challenge, we’ll just start a new challenge and there will be no winner for that challenge.) The three finalists will be posted here and I’ll let readers vote to choose the winner. If there’s a tie, we’ll have joint winners for that challenge.
The winner of the Fashion Challenge will get to pick the theme for the next one and a cash prize of L$250. (Potentially other goodies too if I can cajole some from content creators — interested designers, please let me know. I’d be happy to mention you’re co-sponsoring these challenges.)
How do you enter?
- Create an outfit that meets the challenge theme. This challenge’s theme is “Make hot pink look goth.”
- Submit your photo to snapzilla using the special Fashion Challenge email address: fc@slpics.com (Learn how to submit photos to snapzilla — it’s really easy!)
- Rate your photos and other photos submitted. (See all fashion challenge submissions.)
- Second Style bloggers and magazine staff are not permitted to enter or win (but we can vote on submissions!)
I’ll be adding another snapzilla sidebar soon to carry the Fashion Challenge photos — once the panel is live, you can click on a picture that you like (or dislike, I suppose) to rate it.
Two contest strategies that leap to mind (and might help readers win): the sooner you submit an entry the more time you’ll have to get people to rate it! And even if people give your picture 1 star, that still counts toward the five minimum overall votes to qualify as a potential finalist.
The clock is now running on challenge #1. Do you have what it takes to win? Let’s find out.
The first three photos will be selected on Friday, March 9th. We’ll vote on the three selected finalist photos until March 14th when our first winner will be crowned. (Beware the Ides of March!)
Also — the boots I’m wearing in this photo are Dark Eden’s Candykill Hot Pink Fetish Boots — Etain Peregrine and the Dark Eden crew are having a party this Saturday, March 3rd at 8pm SLT to crown the February Miss Dark Eden and kick off the contest for March. Stop by the store, Magenta 178, 84, 666.
