Corporate Look Galore in SL

By Grazia Horwitz | March 2, 2007

Update [CT]: Images are fixed.

Update [GH]: I don’t know what went wrong with these thumbnails but they look awful.. luckily the photo’s are allright when you click them as soon as I find out what’s wrong and know how to repair it I will do so

Sol, Nyte, Blaze, Pukk, Sachi, Zen… just a few names of designers who recently have been working on and releasing business outfits.. is this going to be the new trend in SL? I sure may hope so… It’s a welcome alternative for the über sexy outfits that are traditionally hot in our Second Lives.

sachiabn_002.jpgToday Sachi Vixen dropped this gorgeous checkered suit on me. This is one of the things that makes me push aside everything I am doing and get into blog mode…. don’t know what it is….. I’m just so fond of cute blazers with nice skirts and slacks. Sachi has made these in two three different fabrics. The checkered one that I’m wearing a pinstripe and a linen one (after all.. spring is in the air so let’s hear it for the lighter fabrics) and they come in grey, black and blue. The skirt has this fish tail prim attachment that makes the outfit a bit frivolous, but I sure like it with just the plain mesh skirt as well.

sachiabn_009.jpgWhen you opt for wearing the pants, you can wear a bottom jacket on the skirt layer for a well tailored look. I usually wear an adapted shape for an outfit with a skirt layer… (put the sliders to almost zero for your behind, the hips and the saddlebags… ) as your usual perfect silhouette will, alas, look too voluptuous in the SL mesh skirts, and with this blazer bottom it’s no different. To complete the look there is a box in the outfit with a camisole.. and cute panties and white stockings.. the cami is really nice with the suit… but personally I rather do not wear plain white stockings.. so I save them for some other occasion.

businesszen_002.jpgOK.. what was going to be an entry on Sachi’s new suit is growing in to a round up… a lot of business outfits have been released today. As I was writing up the above, notice came through that Zen Deledda from House of Zen has released some cute dresses that are perfect for the office. So I ran over to HoZ and picked it up, thinking I might be doing a combined entry but there was more to follow yet. I love this dress… it indeed is perfect to wear at work. I like the neckline and the length of the skirt in particular. This dress comes in several great colors like grey, olive green, blue and the dark pink I’m wearing. It’s sleek, it’s sexy.. and yet not provocative.

businessowanb_004.jpgOver at Zen’s I got an IM from Celeb, resulting in her passing on me the 40’s inspired suit from Rosemary Galbraight from Oh! What a Neat Boutique. It comes in a lot of different ( black, brown, grey, navy, maroon, off white) colours with a jacket and 2 pant layers (one skirt base) and a cute prim skirt with a sweet trimming. I’ve chosen to wear the Houndstooth pants version, I see too little of that texture in SL. The low closing, almost cross over, double breasted jacket is a classic must have that combines easily with other things in your inventory. All in all a very nice and versatile suit.

businessfi_001.jpgLast but not least a new release from Pukk Abel at First Impressions. When I was talking to Celeb, Fashion Consolidated, the very succesful general fashion update group founded by Honey Fairweather, sent out a message about a new release at Pukk’s shop Industrielle. Pukk has been a total doll and made 2 versions of a basic business suit ( a light and a dark pack) that is a real bargain for anyone… for just L$ 100 you get a tintable shirt, blazer, skirt (with jacket bottom to combine with the blazer), glitch pants, a skirt without bottom jacket to wear just with the shirt and a pair of pants. As said, tintable, so you can basically make as much versions as you want to. This calls for some serious experimenting. I’m wearing the dark version here and tinted the shirt in a brownish red to add some colour to it all.
