Cool International Style

15

bikanerlehnga.jpgbronzesari.jpgOver the weekend I got a pointer to Oryx Tempel’s fascinating international clothing store. She features garments that come from a diverse set of international cultures and countries. The designs to the left — modeled by the impossibly gorgeous Iris Ophelia (Bollywood edition — collect all three!) — come from India of course, a stunning gold lehnga and a beautiful bronze sari.

Oryx is currently working on an entire store devoted to Indian garments (it will be next door to her current space) — but she doesn’t just study Indian dress. She has designs from Africa, the Middle East, all over southeast Asia and the South Pacific regions. The demand, she tells me, for “modest Muslim women’s clothing” is high — and given the fashion trends for lots of skin and sin in the broader Second Life fashion marketplace, I don’t doubt it for a second. Regardless of whether you want to cover up or show it off, the designs at Oryx’s store are delightfully accurate representations of national dress and beautiful to wear.

Visit the store in Son (134, 175, 28)

Wow! Ive been wishing someone would design beautiful South Asian Saris…these are wonderful!! @_@

I have one of these saris! I wear it all the time… absolutely stunning! I lovelovelove the way the pallu drifts out behind me when I walk. :)

I’ve discovered Oryx’s shop since 2 months and I like to go once a week to see her new fashion models. I’ve got 2 dresses from India and 1 from Africa for me… I have mixed origins both africa and India !!! I’m sure Oryx is going to have a great sucess in the next months with these international ways of clothing…

Beautiful saris, Celeb. Thanks for finding them. After searching high and low, I found a nice one at a place called, improbably, Gor: Goth, Gor, and More, on Leafminer. The designer’s name is Lorelei Patel, and the store has several saris and some shalwar kameez (Punjabi suits). You can see a picture in my blog under “Ready for my closeup.” But I am happy that more are out there. They go with my colour, and I love the look.

D’oh! Only one is a sari, I see now. Forgive my carelessness!

This store is adorable!

I’d been looking for saris..thanks for the tip..I went to Vintuition tonight and bought severak outfits, I was thrilled to pay 300l for a lovely jodphur lehnga that included earrings, belly ring and nose ring. Such a deal.

just one word – Beautiful!

I’m happy to say – Oryx is now designing a line based on handloom fabric from Dastkar Andhra, India.

The Sari’s and Lehenga’s arent that great they look ok but i have seen way better and cheaper Indian Clothings in SL. Her collection is too small to have enough choices. Its just bloggers creating a hype thats all there is to it. Look arround and search in SL and there are places with far better Indian Attire Designs. From Sari’s to Salwars, Lehenga’s Chooridars and Sharara’s, Bindi’s, Mehendi. The Mens section in Desi Beatz Apperals is the best Indian Mens clothes i have seen in SL so far. Try visiting Taste of India(Desi Beatz Appreals) great designs 200L or less or Mashooka Designs

Thanks for the pointers Aveek those do look like fun places to shop.

You are welcome celebrity. Also wanted to share with u all that wearing all those cool Indian outfits and looking like dolls if you wanna go dancing, Club Desi Beatz at Taste of India is the place to be.

The towers outside are the best fly up there in your Indian Outfits and trust me you feel like a princess :) )
