Big Hair Calls for Big Jewelry
By Zillow Dejavu | December 11, 2006
SL has some very talented jewelry designers–all those carefully placed prims! But most of them are into diamonds and other precious stones with very delicate settings. That’s probably appropriate for all the glittery gowns and dresses. But for me, with my big hair and earthy tastes, something a bit more solid is called for. Big hair calls for big jewelry, is my motto.
That’s why Purple Rose Jewelry & More, for men and women, is my kind of jewelry hang out. The hoops are thick enough to be seen with big hair and they come in a variety of tones and colors, such as gold, silver and the blue and black pattern shown here. Purple Rose also carries the more exotic pieces such as belly rings, lip hoops and nose rings—if you’re into that kind of thing. I’m normally not, but it looks so enticing and artsy on display at Purple Rose that I might have to give it a try.

Everyone is concerned about bling and lag these days—or should be—and Purple Rose Jewelry comes with the following statement about its bling script:
“Lag is caused by listeners, regardless of channel. When you turn your bling off, it is still listening and waiting for a command, so turning bling off doesn’t reduce lag. With PR Jewelry, the listeners go to sleep after 10 minutes of not getting any commands, causing no lag (you may put it to sleep sooner with a command). Once it is sleeping, it can be awakened by taking it off and on or reloging.” A list of commands for the jewelry is provided.
Sounds good to me. Looks good to me, too.

I found a script in the SL forums that stops bling entirely!!
I can’t script, but just deleted the existing scripts from all my jewelry and pasted it in.
Voila, no more tackines…er, I mean bling! ;-) (No more laggy listening either, no more remembering to turn it off, no more remembering which jewelry has it or the commands…)
Ah, found it again!

Crystal, thanks for that. I’ll keep it in mind for jewelry that has a script that can’t be turned off. However with the PR jewelry, after turning it off when I first got it, I get a message only once, a few minutes after logging in, that says the jewelry is going to sleep. I assume (hope!) it works becuz after that I don’t get any more messages no matter how long I stay on.
