Sinful Skins and Sweet Sweet Dreams

By Celebrity Trollop | November 7, 2006

st4cursed.jpgwcat.jpgI promised a Port Seraphine update, but Nephi’s website is having some technical difficulties — I will have to post pictures of her gorgeous new couture gowns (themed with the four elements and four seasons) later this week.

But the foundation of your look in Second Life always starts with your skin. Skins are so critical to way your avatar looks — they give the cleavage along with muscle and bone definition, as well the makeup. I had a wonderful surprise when Portia Sin sent me her new Cursed Ruby skin. A while ago, I had mentioned to Portia that a lot of customers in SL really want less realistic looking bits. This makeup set was the first which contained two “bits” choices: a realistic looking one, or a more “open” look for — as Portia describes in her blog post — “mature uses.” One especially innovative addition is that Portia included a tintable panty so that the carpets will always match Chromabrow drapes. (And if you need help matching tints, Portia said she’s happy to do so.)

Such things don’t really bother me, but I know a lot of avatar drivers are very choosy about the skins they wear because they don’t like the way the hoohah looks. C’est la vie. Let’s talk about the normally visible bits of the skin: the makeup. Portia sent me the “catseye” look (in the upper right corner of the far left photo) which I just loved that I had to go back and buy the “Smoke” makeup (in the lower left of the far left photo.)

But I was delighted to see that Portia found some inspiration in the catseye look from Cursed Ruby and decided to make an entire four pack of that same style — with some very gothy lipstick colors to boot. I also heard that Portia is busy at work on a line of men’s skins, so if you have a boytoy be on the look out for Portia’s male skins, which should be out in just a bit.

cabaret_sizzle_web.jpgpointe_forum_ad.jpgI’ve been admiring the designs Vanity Glitter has been posting on her blog for a while, but I was kind of Linden poor the last week so I didn’t run out to buy them — but I finally had my chance when I dropped by Sin Skins.

I knew Vanity had been planning to release some latex dresses — and I’m sure she has some more designs in store for us — but for now we get these gems. The very first shopping trip I made to Sweet Dreams I was blown away by the highlighting on the latex itself. It must’ve taken hours of effort to perfect the gleam and shine she bakes on these latex outfits. A nice detail is that Vanity’s actually drawn in a bit of a belly button, just to further emphasize how close fitting all of these releases would look in RL.

Although my avatar is a bit taller (and perhaps a bit wider :D) than Vanity, I had no problems getting help fitting the prim pieces of these dresses — especially just for Celebrity. It was a wonderful customer service experience and it’s always fun to shop in the store, however dangerous it might be to my Linden balance.

I had planned to snap some photos of Celebrity in her new slick flexi latex dresses, but you’ll just have to settle for the vendor ads (and this PXP post by renowned piercing artist Deekay Xavier.)

feel free to contact me inworld as well, perhaps i can point you in the right direction! i’m still sorta on the new side (7 months about) but i’m happy to help a bit.

and of course, ask around, not sure how many people have time to help, but gathering a bit of info here and there from people can help a LOT!!!

i’m planning a “begining” clothing making class for the first of the year if there is interest, so look for that too.

  8. 1) Who cares if they are alts?

    2) And if they are, it’s an exceptionally clever ruse, since I have been in the same rooms with Nephi, Vanity and Portia at the same time.

  10. Hey theeeere! To the idiotic anon (ah, the anons, always up to no good are they?- gosh im tored of this)… No they are not same person, just as someone else said, they were seen and heard all together in one room at same time. Beat that? About the boots, yes I can confirm to you they are one of the best fetish boots that have ever been made. They are by the extremely talented mecha-maker Compulsion Overdrive, of C-Tech (wich didn’t “change” for C-Shoes, it’s just two different branches she creates :D btw). Since she is my friend, I buggered her to also make a platform version… Looks awesome with EVERYTHIIIIING. Anyhoo jumped in the bandwagon to praise the latex stuff because it’s some of the best out there (and not even pricey)… but also to say, C-Tech now has its own sim, Overdrive Island. It also hosts one of my favorite store I own (!BF!), wee! It’s a wonderful semi-futuristic city sim, like Nakama a bit. VISIT!?

  12. Again, even if it is, what’s the big deal? Why should any one care?

  13. Who cares? Its quality stuff, its inexpensive, and fun to wear. And if it is indeed the same people, quite clever. Only those who wished they’d thought of it first get pissy.

  14. I always get a bit confused when I see people say ‘That’s so and so that is!’ Is it some sort of crime in SL to make something under another name? I’m proud of my store and brand and have never felt a need to go secret but I am sure if people do they have thier reasons that are nothing to do with anyone else.

It doesn’t matter whether it is me, you, uncle Tom Cobley in disguise, or a talented newcomer. What matters is that they made something nice and whether you want to buy it or not.

So please, let’s stop the fashion police and pointing finger stuff. It’s not anyone else’s business but the individual behind the avatar. It doesn’t matter, it isn’t a crime and if you don’t like it, don;t spend money on it, don;t even look at it. There is this magic X button in the corner, press it and go for a walk! :)
