Rebel Hope: Julianna Medieval Gown
By Choice Sliter | October 6, 2006
Okay, a small confession. I have a deep love of Medieval and Renaissance gowns. I never wanted a typical white wedding gown and when I watched the wedding scene in Braveheart, I was inspired to make my RL ceremony quite similar, dress and all. So, yes, on occasion there is room for fantasy and play in choice’s life. but one’s wedding day is a day unlike any other, so why not have it be exactly as you want it?
Since my wedding anniversary is near, I was attracted to this new period dress from Rebel Hope, called Julianna. In her own words, Juliana is:
…Done in a cross style fabric with a slight sheen and sheer flex prim, gives the gown an elegant flow. The wrist ruffles are flex as well as the skirt and light cape off the back. I’ve done a shoulder detail for the cape prims. Includes the bodice, skirt, leggings to hide legs, prim skirt, wrist ruffles and cape. Done in four more muted tones of green, blue, bordeaux and plum.
The muted tones are what really caught my eye. I also love the way Rebel has left the dress form to speak for itself, with minimal embellishment. Just simple gold accents and a subtle, tonal pattern in the fabric. The texture is rich and velvety. The sleeves are sweeping and dramatic. It is a beautiful and gown that fits in with a particular fantasy for me. I would love to don it for the right occasion.
