Preppy plaids from Luminosity
By Choice Sliter | October 24, 2006
When I first saw the photos from this Luminosity release, I told Sol Columbia that she should have called it Choice. Not that I am pimping for having products named after me, mind you. It’s just that if you met me in real life, you would often find me decked out in outfits very similar to Irvington: tailored, plaid pants matched with a tonal v-neck sweater and a white, oxford shirt. It’s preppy, collegiate, and classic.
Although I was impressed with the design details on last week’s Siren release, I must admit that I am thrilled to see Sol return to tailored, upscale, casuals. While I developed a big crush on Luminosity the moment I laid eyes on the Rootbeer sweater, it was Sol’s release of plaid skirts followed by plaid tights that sent me over the top in love. And while I gently prodded for more pants back then, Sol avoided them like the plague. Luckily, she has found not only her pants muse, but the sacred, plaid fairy has returned as well.
The plaid on these pants is excellent. The colors are saturated and the seams are perfectly matched. These pants have the teeniest amount of butt cleavage, for those who dislike it; however, the tails on the oxford shirt more than cover this area, so there is no fear of being exposed. The pants are rounded out with some butt-accenting rear pockets and another fine, Luminosity belt.
But saluting the plaid pants is perhaps not doing fair justice to the unsung hero of this release: the sweater-oxford combos. It’s the details that repeatedly suck me in to Luminosity pieces, so deceptive in their casual simplicity. The sweaters are no exception to the rule. You can literally count the 2×2 ribs on the sweater knit. The texture is that good. They look feminine and soft, which contrasts nicely with the untucked oxford underneath.
By the way, if you own the Luminosity flexi skirts or plaid tights, these items are great companions. The colors are compatible, perfect for mix and match, dressy-casual dressing.

Waaah, I need to become more verbose in my blogging :-)

Posted by: CronoCloud Creeggan on October 24th, 2006 at 7:05 pmOh yes, we have many common fashion loves :-) But fret not. A lot of people prefer the short and sweet to my long-winded and analytical. But your comment reminded me that I forgot to include the handbags in my outfit credits (added now).
Posted by: Choice Sliter on October 24th, 2006 at 7:39 pmTrust me short and sweet is much better than reading through most of Choice’s posts. Take a lesson from PXP instead of just rambling. We get it English is your thing but tryto capture and retain your audiences’ attention.
Posted by: Shauna on October 24th, 2006 at 10:47 pmWell, it’s mighty presumptuous to assume that simply because you don’t care for my style of writing, that no one does. Just as it would be equally presumptuous, if not downright foolish, of me to assume that everyone is going to enjoy or be interested in what I write. The beauty of the internet is that are always a thousand authors available to give you the same information, in exactly the way you want to read it: be it funny, short, cute, or downright inarticulate. If you’re on this site and reading my posts (or commenting, no less), you do so deliberately. I certainly don’t claim to be the sole voice of fashion in SL (far from it!). However, if my voice grates on you, then by all means, you should click over to another author that better suits your taste. You vote with your mouse, and every vote counts.
