Port Seraphine New Designers: Portia Sin and Vanity Glitter

By Celebrity Trollop | October 10, 2006

port_004.jpgSnapshot_004.jpgSnapshot_005.jpgNephilaine Protagonist opened Port Seraphine two days ago (as we noted earlier.) Two of the newest designers in Port Seraphine are Vanity Glitter of Sweet Dreams, and Portia Sin of Sin Skins. Vanity’s playing the piano, while angelic Portia is laid out on top, listening serenely. (I imagine that Vanity’s playing the Moonlight Sonata in that picture, but don’t ask me why.)

One of the teaser images Nephi posted to her blog last week was a set of skins created by Portia Sin. Portia was kind enough to package up a set of sneak peek skins for me to review, and yesterday I had the opportunity to meet her at her shop. Sin Skins are hand drawn and although the basic set did not have a lot of makeup, the “full release” of each skin tone has about 20 different makeup types. Portia says she’s been experimenting with makeup combinations in real-life, and then translating those color choices into looks for her skins — aided with the help of a makeup book. I’ve heard some speculation about Portia Sin being an alt of an experienced designer, but I didn’t get any evidence of that during our chat. Call me naive, but I’ll give her the benefit of doubt — not that I care terribly if Portia’s an alt account either way.

Sin Skins are very nicely done skins, by the way. The makeup choices are nice and the lighter skin tones are especially appealing to me. The shading and highlights are good — perhaps I would care for them to be a touch more defined. (My personal taste runs more toward photorealistic than “china doll” hand drawn usually) One innovation that I particularly like is Portia’s use of “ChromaBrow” which are a set of eyebrows drawn on a baldie hair layer. You can use these brow libraries to quickly and easily match the shade of just about any hair you can find in SL — the black brow is even tintable. Skin wearers who are demanding about the appearance of their bits might not be satisfied with what’s “down there” but it isn’t like I traipse around the grid nekkie (Trollop or no!) so I don’t much mind about that. I do realize that using the catsuit to model the skin isn’t terribly revealing, so I’ve worn it in some other pictures I’ll be posting shortly. That should give you a better idea of exactly how the skin stacks up when you’re flaunting what Photoshop hath wrought.

The other new designer in Port Seraphine is Vanity Glitter, the self-described Fetishista. I haven’t had the chance to meet Vanity in world yet, but I sincerely hope to — what could be more fun than a Celebrity Trollop making friends with Vanity Glitter. That’s an SL name so good I wish I’d thought of it! Her store Sweet Dreams currently has three exquisitely highlighted latex catsuits, including the one I’m modelling, “Heart of Gold.” Heart of Gold, like the other designs that are currently available feature several different configurations of zippers and zipper status (that is, open or closed. :D) The catsuits come ala cart as singletons (a specific color and zipper position), or in fat packs with all the colors for a single zipper configuration at a discount.

  1. [...] Last night while I was shopping at Sweet Dreams, (and I finally met Vanity Glitter — woot) I happened to run into Nephilaine buzzing around Port Seraphine. She mentioned that DoMoCo 2.0 is on the way to public release, probably very early next week (Monday, Tuesday at the latest, she said.) I’m super excited to show you some preview shots of the collection (just one outfit for today — but there’s much more to DoMoCo 2.0 than the racing suit.) The clothing will be sold along with the new Dominus Shadow — and so the vendors will be located in Dominus Motor Company locations. [...]
