Update [CS]: Added photo and corrected color information.

Ever since the September collection, Sol Columbia of Luminosity has been introducing one great blazer after another. With this release she has departed from having the jacket play upstaging supporting actor and has brought it center stage with a collection of outerwear pieces in three styles and autumn shades.

First, we have the Quilted Jacket in chocolate, wine, ash brown, and black. I was given a sneak peak at these last week. I fell in love the second I saw them. It’s modern and sophisticated. I adore the cut of the jacket and the colors, but it’s the quilted texture that sends it over the top. How Sol has managed to get the diamonds matched at every seam and keep the texture from looking hideous when the av twists, I will never know. Everyone who has seen these jackets on me in world has asked where they could get one. It is outstanding.

Second, we have the perennial winter favorite: the Pea Coat. Coming from a Navy family and living in the Pacific Northwest for five years means that I am a RL pea coat nut. Even though I live in Southern California now, I still love throwing on a pea coat the second the temperature drops below 55. These feature a high-stance lapel and the beautiful, boiled wool texture we saw on the Sahara blazer. It comes in camel, charcoal red, chocolate, periwinkle, and navy. It coordinates well with Sol’s cords release from last week.

Finally, we have the deliciously cropped Suede Jacket. This collection has a traditional, western styling, but is updated with a contemporary cut and color palette. I particularly love the tonal stitch details, as well as the placket, collar, cuffs, and pocket flaps. It comes in red, tan, blue, juniper, charcoal, and chocolate. This is a cute, modern jacket that would look great thrown over a denim dress and paired with cowboy boots, or layered over a turtleneck sweater and worn with jeans.

All of the jackets are available in singles or in discounted packs. Read more about the coats on Sol’s blog.

  1. Sol is on fire! I am DROOLING over those pea coats.

  2. I have several things from Luminosity and none of them fit me right :( All the skirts show butt cleavage, which was not the look I was going for…

I probably spent close to $1000L on the clothes. Not sure what to do. I do LOVE the designs though. Beautiful work.

  3. Ah. Well I can definitely understand that butt cleavage is not everyone’s style. For me, the butt is one of the sexiest parts of a woman’s body, so it’s a look I enjoy. In Sol’s latest designs the rise has come up, so there isn’t as much butt cleavage. And, if you wear longer shirts or blazers, the butt cleavage is completely covered. However, as much as I love Sol’s work, no designer’s style is for everyone, but most do listen to customer feedback and try to design things that work for various customers’ tastes.
