Kickin’ it in Route 66

With this outfit Sol Columbia returns to designing something she hasn’t touched since her second release: jeans. Jeans are, for many of us, the first piece of clothing we wear in SL. It’s no wonder nearly every designer of casual clothes has at least one pair for sale in their collection. If there is quintessential SL clothing item, it would arguably be jeans.
But one can’t discount the iconic quality of the jean and its roots in the American experience. From Levi Strauss to James Dean, the jean has always been about that western expansion. Manifest destiny. The open road. That is why it seems wholly appropriate that Sol would tap into that mythos in a new jeans and flannel shirt outfit called, Route 66.
The components of the set are pretty simple: a pink, plaid flannel shirt (offered in two lengths), a pair of ripped and frayed cut off shorts, and a pair of long jeans with a Southwestern concha belt. Sol has used similar shading and highlighting to her cords here, and it gives the jeans her signature luminous look.
In the photo I’m showing the two two shirt and bottoms versions on the left and far left. But jeans and cut offs just beg for mixing in with other clothing. So, near right I’ve gone a little retro, pairing the shorts with fishnets and a cherry bikini top. Far right, I’ve styled in a more typical casual look, with a suede jacket and halter.
