DE Designs is turning 2 years old on November 6th, but you get Lacrymosa a week early! I know DoC Eldritch had originally intended to hold this design until Friday (November 3) and post a couple of progressive teaser ads throughout the week, but he IMed me this morning and said he was getting too jammed up in his other design releases — so he wasn’t going to wait on this one any more.
DoC has always been known for attention to detail and what I think of as “dark fantasy” clothing — like the kind of outfits you might see on a female supervillian in a comic book or a computer game. But DoC has always had a mix of (licensed) web sourced images and hand drawing to put them all together. Lacyrmosa is the first design (and ad campaign too) that DoC has drawn 100% by hand. The details abound in this design. When I caught up with DoC in world on Saturday he told there’s almost 1000 layers and 2 weeks of solid Photoshop time for Lacyrmosa between the garments and the ads. That’s a ton of work and it shows brilliantly here. Although I’ve just shown the female edition of this design, there’s also a matching version for guys too (though it covers a lot more skin. Hehe.) There’s seven pieces in the women’s version — many of them mix and match with other pieces in this set (although I think that long jacket would look so hot paired up with other outfits.)
