Part of the beauty of the Second Life fashion world, is that it is a world permanently in bloom. Old designers are always reinventing themselves, refining their craft, and surprising us. then there are our reliable favorites, who week in and week out create a new item that try as we might to resist it, we simply have to have. And, perhaps best of all, is the possibility that at any moment a new and creative person can come in world and start designing clothes that are so refined, you’d swear they’d been at it for months.
Today, I was exposed to the latter. An ebullient caLLie cLine sent me an IM while I was elbowing the crowd at ETD following the announcement of a new hair release. she said she had found something fabulous and I simply had to see. I accepted a teleport to a small shopping area in Lalique. caLLie was absolutely right.
The store she took me to is called [Shine] and the designer behind the brand is Gita Gaea. Gita has been in world for less-than a month, but she has already produced several gorgeous, women’s gowns and a small casual collection, which I am wearing in the photograph.
I loved the belted sweaters, which are part of a collection called Hazel’s knits. I am wearing the apple and blossom shades for you in the photograph. I love the prim attachments and the sweet little flower at the neckline. but what sets these apart from other sweaters I own is the optional, wide-belt, prim attachment. It’s such a cute look.
I also really loved the dusty teal dress you see (near left). It is so pretty and feminine. The net detail on the bodice, and the lace cap sleeves are just sweet. The fir on the dress is close to the body-sexy, but the lace and flower details make it it more innocent. I am looking forward to seeing more things from Gita, especially if she maintains this polished, feminine aesthetic.
But Gita is not the only new designer that popped on my radar this week. Shai Delacroix sent me a promo pack announcing her store opening and introducing her line of casual clothes at Casa del Shai. While her tops were a little too youthful for my particular taste, they were quite cute and had nice shading (see them on Arbel Vogel). What I really liked from Sahi was her Chocolate Tweed Flat Front Trousers that come with Geek Chic Outfit (featured in photo with Blossom sweater from [Shine]). An ebony version is included with a different set called, Punk Girl. I’m wearing those with a new tank and shrug combination called, Preppy Paige, from the content producing machine, Janie Marlowe, of Mischief (far right). As with Gita, I am really looking forward to new releases from Shai.

[...] Ever since the mid-90’s, when manufactures figured out how to increase the wale sizes and decrease the nasty 1980’s corduroy crunch, corduroy has become a cold weather basic. And while basic equals boring to many, for me it is an old friend. It’s a cozy comfort that I return to, when prim and proper gets to be too much. When sexy has left me tired, when dressed up has left me drained. I live for well made basics that make me look fresh and polished. and that is why I love these cords. First, they come in pack of six delicious, dark hues. Deep wines, charcoals, and evergreens. Second, they come in two styles: with a plain waistband or with a brown, braided belt. Although I love the addition of belts on pants, I recently realized that almost all of my casual pants have belts attached, and when it comes to certain tops (such as the one I wrote about earlier this week from [Shine]), the attached belt doesn’t work. So it’s nice to have two looks included and to not have to choose between the sets. Third, the sweet little bootie pockets. Let’s face it, Choice has a butt and she loves it. And she likes a designer who understands the beauty of the callipygian woman and isn’t afraid to accentuate my most important asset. [...]
[...] While I was checking out the new dress released last night at Casa de Shai, I popped over to [Shine] to see if Gita Gaea had added anything to her collection. Indeed she had. Why this woman refuses to post on New Products and let us all take part in her work, I do not know. But what I do know is that Gita is very good at creating feminine clothes with special touches.
