  1. Just a heads up that you have Antonia’s name spelled as Antonio on the cover.

  6. Well, I just have to say this was a good issue. I like the new formatting that you did (i.e. the table of contents) and such. Like the new pic of you, Celeb!! I do have one thing though that stood out. The Halloween pics were really hard to see the outfits you were featuring. I’m not saying that the art wasn’t great..because it was. I love seeing how people can weild PS to their will and produce such awesome digital art….but the outfits were hard to see.

I like that you guys went artsy with those photos, but perhaps maybe just making the background artsy or something would be better. I really couldn’t tell what that Willow Vampire outfit looked like (or I wouldn’t have known had I not already seen the blog post about it).

  7. This was a good issue, I liked pretty much the same aspects as Elika, and disliked the same.

Well not that I DISLIKED the pictures, I just found it a lil hard to view the outfits, I thought maybe my monitor was a bit dark lol.

The pictures were awesome though, great art, just not really great for my eyes at 7am! :D

  8. hehe yea the kind of pictures I do tend to be like that I guess, problem was I guess I went into it trying to make it artsy rather than what it should have been. *pout* Oh wells, I was asked to do piccies :D and I assumed that’s what it was for, thought I was meant to do artsy and not an ad, or I would have toned down.

  12. ghostview on linux is having problems with it, I can view every other page (for example pages 10 and 12 but not 11) and don’t get a page listing( that I can use to jump between pagezs) error message is:

**** Warning: An error occurred while reading an XREF table.
**** The file has been damaged. This may have been caused
**** by a problem while converting or transfering the file.
**** Ghostscript will attempt to recover the data.

  13. Heyyy! Just as everyone mentionned, great new issue, same thing I disliked. Well once again just like they said not disliked, just not has its place in a fashion mag I think. Scarlet’s artsy stuff looks good on a SL Profile pic, but I think in a magazine it makes it a tad hard for us to see the product. Not sure :/ Fashion - Art - Fashion… Come to think of it, it DOES go together LOL.. Does look good too, that’s not questionable :P Bah I don’t know really… Anyways, once again overall nice issue, good interviews, nice ideas, I only had 3 points, the 1st one being the artsy pics, the 2nd being too many advertising IN BETWEEN the stuff. I found it distracting (not to say annoying) that in between the sections lessay for Costume Crazy, for each page of costume there was a full promo page as well. I think it would be cooler to do like RL mags like Vogue or Elle and have a full section dedicated to a certain topic and then a few ads, then another section, and on and on, next time! :D Last one is neither a rant nor a point really but just a note to let you know that you forgot to write the credits of outfits shown in Style Girl. :)

  15. Scarlet,
I see the point you’re making. I honestly truly feel that your artwork in this issue was amazing. It truly is amazing the kind of work you can create with photo shop.

And just as in your link that you posted art does play a major role in fashion. Perhaps as a lead in page or maybe an article about fashion or maybe even the cover of the magazine, but to showcase the fashion for fashion sake…raw photos of the product is ideal (to me). Like when I read Vogue or In Style, they have artsy backgrounds, artsy inset photos, but what always shines through and clearly are the fashion items. This makes it much easier for the reader to see what it is and say “hey, I like that. I think I’ll buy it.”

Now of course my whole opinion/point would be irrelavent if this is the direction Second Style is now deciding to go (to be a more artsy form of a magazine). But from previous issues I was under the impression that they are showcasing the fashion in hopes to bring attention to it and to also encourage readers to go out and get it. But that could just be me totally missing the mark.

Again, I’ll say that your art work was nothing short of amazing. The Phantom of the Opera one was so beautiful.

  16. nono I see your point, I agree with you completely, I wasn’t trying to say I didn’t silly :P. I never took anything you said as negative since it wasn’t at all, ty for the compliment, yea my fav was the phantom one hehe. You are right, I went way too dark on the canimal one. It’s really my first time doing any fashion picture so I apologize to Secondstyle and to anyone who read it if I somehow ruined the effect of trying to sell the outfit. I’m only like used to making profile pictures and well artsy stuff for school mostly :).
I tried my best and I guess I made a booboo, so sorry to all that felt I screwed up ; ;.

  17. It was my call to ask Scarlet to do the “artsy” costume pictures. I approved them.

And this is something that I wanted to experiment with editorially and artistically. I think we will probably do it again at some point, but probably more as “spot color” rather than as a main feature.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

  18. Congrats on another enjoyable issue!

Odd that even with the latest bout of SL-burnout, I still looked forward to reading the latest issue. You’re obviously doing something right.

Keep up the great work and all of the obvious effort you put into it. It’s very much appreciated.

  19. Did you redo it with different PDF encoder? Because it works now in ghostview/gsview.

    Thank you very much.
