A revolution is launched at Musashi-Do

revolutionfemme_2.jpgI love a tailored suit. The first clothing item I purchased in game was just that: a sexy, red suit from Mischief. I love that suit. I pull it out for meetings and interviews or any time I want to feel like I own the world. I admit to being a bit jealous of the Shiryu Musashi’s Evolution Suits and wishing there were a female version. (I know, I know…we just can’t let the men have anything to themselves.) But now, the Evolution has become the Revolution and there is much to enjoy here.

Following up on his launch of men’s suits known as the Evolution Suit (reviewed here by Nicholas Shaftoe), Shiryu Musashi has released a version for the femmes called Revolution. The full set features 60 pieces:

  • 3 suits (pants, skirts and jackets) in black, navy, and charcoal
  • 21 shirts
  • 16 ties
  • 3 lingerie sets in red, white, and black (garters, bras, stockings and thongs)

The entire collection is available in a fatpack for L$800; or in smaller packs of suits, shirts, and ties that best broken down for you in Shiryu’s original Forum Post. Detailed descriptions and photopgraphs are also available on Shiryu’s blog.

I find the inclusion of the ties in this set to be a fun, somewhat butch element that I could imagine wearing to broker a power deal. Not that power brokering has ever comes up for me in SL; but if it comes up for you, you may want to slap one of these babies on and take control. The shading on the ties is nicely done and I particularly like the patterned versions.

Since the shirts are meant to coordinate with the tie collection, they are only available in a fully-buttoned version, which may or may not work for you depending on the level of sexuality you like to ooze in your suits. As the revolution suit continues to evolve, I think an unbuttoned version will be essential. One shouldn’t forget that there is great power in sex appeal and the most powerful business women know how to wield it like a finely-honed sword.

The other slight problem for me, being a woman of ample behind, is that there is not a prim skirt option. Sadly, the mesh skirt makes poor Choice look like she has shoplifted two pumpkins–large ones…like, record breaking pumpkins. It is an ugly, ugly, look on me. Yes, it can be cured to a degree with altering my shape (which I do if I just really love the dress/skirt). But I find that with the exception of particularly waifish or flat-butted avs, few women look good in these skirts. So, I would love to see a prim skirt option added to the Revolution in the future.

My skirt issues aside, I really like the clean look of the pants and jackets. the belt buckle is eye-catching and is appropriate for the formality of the suit. I particularly love the variety of color options available for the suits, and especially the shirts. The Winter collection is dark and divine.

I also really, really love the ties, despite the fact that I find them butch. Man-tailored looks have been on the upswing in women’s fashions, and we may be returning to another period of 80′s-style androgyny. In the mean time, some women may find the ties to be too masculine. This is why an unbottoned shirt would be a great option. If the shirts and ties were paired with a flirtier skirt, however, their appeal would be more one of contrasts, or even school girl youthfulness (as with Solera).

I think the Revolution may just be getting started. And as it moves into full swing, this may become the most versatile suit option for women in SL.
