Raven Lament’s Lolita
By Celebrity Trollop | September 1, 2006
Two weeks ago, I was chit-chatting with Six Kennedy and she started to show me a lot of her favorite outfits from Ravenwear — Raven Lament’s store in Bizarre. I’ve seen some of her things in ads before, but these were older outfits, released a while ago — before I even started Second Life, so I’d never seen them before. This is one of those outfits that I just couldn’t resist posting — call it a blast from the past if you must, but I think it’s sweet, sexy and gorgeous. The name of the outfit is Lolita, and it’s sold for an absurdly low L$150 considering all of the pieces and quality of the design itself.
It comes as a “semi trompe d’oeil” two-tiered poofy skirted system mesh dress — I know some don’t care for that silhouette style, but I think it’s really cute in this particular application. The other thing which is remarkable is the care and “3dness” of the painted-on ribbon accents. They look like they’re prim based, but they’re not. Clever use of shadowing (especially tone-on-tone) makes them snap right off the screen.
If you’ve never shopped at Ravenwear before, I’d like to encourage you friend-to-friend to check it out. Raven has a lot of different styles (although most of them trend toward edgy punk/goth clothing) available, and nearly everything she creates is extremely reasonably priced, considering the high quality and attention to detail she’s put into each garment.
