Getting Trendy at Tete a Pied

0

092906_tete_trendyTete a Pied has released a smokin’ hot new make up set that was inspired by the Versace Fall show. I’m happily modeling them for you in (clockwise): Plum, Indigo, Mocha, Teal.

The Mocha and Plum look very natural and slightly nude against my dark skin, creating a pretty, yet subtle smoky effect. The Teal and Indigo are more prominent, but also quite nice. I love the idea of a colored, smokey eye, instead of the usual black. Roslin’s use of glimmer on the lips make them look full and kissable.

I must mention that the eyeshadow looks equally as lovely when you blink. The colors are vibrant and pop, but the texture is still consistent with other Tete make ups. It is definitely a look that says, “Stare into my eyes and get lost in them.”

A sugary sweet sweater at Silent Sparrow

0

92906_sparrow_tete_001For a while now I have admired the new releases at Silent Sparrow and thought, “So cute, but not something I’d wear.” Since neither my RL nor my SL bank accounts runneth over with abundance, I just can’t spend money on things I’m not sure I will use. But today’s release, of the super sweet, retro-inspired zooey sweater, was right up my alley.

The zooey sweaters are blazer-styled with a tonal stripe under the bust and matching tonal collar. There are bow details on the cuffs and right beneath the bust line. It is a feminine and flirty look. It’s almost a Jackie O-type, “ladies who lunch” look, but the flyaway design exposes just a little bit of belly button that implies happy hour, more than brunch. The version I am wearing is called sugar. You can view all of the colors here.

BTW, you should be aware that this sweater is hard to find. I recommend using this SLURL, which should take you right there. I also nosed around and found, to my shock, that there are still some of the Limited Editions available. If you wanted one, be sure to get over and grab yours.

Also, a gracious shout out to elka Lehane for her fantastic hair find this morning. Not only did I pick up a couple of do’s, but the one I am wearing this photograph (called Honeychild) will be my RL hairstyle as of tomorrow. After ten years of letting my hair fall lazily down my back, as of tomorrow it will be going short and chic. (I’m gonna try not to cry.)

Liquid Velvet Grand Opening

0

ModernromanceredForsaken_dangerous0Designer Ravenlynn Templar has a lot of range — she creates everything from fabulous evening gowns, to elegant daywear, to the slinkiest, sexiest clubwear. Lately, though, she’s been trying to find a new home for her brand, Liquid Velvet — a newly opened club in her old location would frequently max out the sim, preventing her customers from shopping at her store.

So she’s moved to the Forsaken sim, home of Leyla Christensen’s club of the same name. For some time, Ravenlynn has been designing some pieces not only as general merchandise for her store, but also as prizes and special incentives for participation in Forsaken club events, so it’s nice to see the circle close.

Ravenlynn is offering several deals and discounts to celebrate the grand opening of her new home store location — and she hasn’t stopped working on new items for sale. I wanted to quickly highlight two of the latest additions: Dangerous, part of the aforementioned Forsaken line — a very risque club look with a semi-sheer corset paired up with a leather skirt and Modern Romance, an evening gown she created in collaboration with Mekan. Aside from the new outfits, Ravenlynn is hosting a special “Dollar sale” where the items are all L$1, but they’re also no transfer!

Still, I enjoy shopping (and wearing) LVS, so it’s nice to know that it has a new home where it’ll be much easier to shop. Head over and take a look at the L$1 sale and browse the rest of the sim. That’s my plan, as soon as I can!

Update: Help wanted at Second Style

1

Update [CT]: We are closing applications for this position Oct 1, at 12 midnight SLT. If you are interested in the position, please submit your portfolio and a statement of interest before that time. We will be combing through the applications and making a decision later in October — mostly likely after Second Style #5 is published.

In Issue #4, we have a house ad toward the back advertising an open position for photography editor. I’m adding a post here as a “sneak preview” and something that’s web linkable (if you’re so inclined :D )

Second Style Magazine is seeking an experienced Photography Editor to recruit, direct and select photographers, models and images for publication in the magazine. Outstanding candidates will have all of the following attributes:

  • Attention to detail
  • Love of fashion and design in SL and RL
  • Experience with SL photography (although RL photography expertise is also very helpful!)
  • Compatible aesthetic vision with the magazine’s editorial staff and publisher
  • Able to set and meet production deadlines

If you’re interested in this position, please submit a portfolio of sample images and a statement of interest detailing any relevant experience to me (Celebrity Trollop) via notecard (in world) or email (out world).

Only short listed candidates will be contacted for further information and an interview. Thanks.

Update: Oh DAZZLE, We Hardly Knew Ye

0

Dazzle_crowdUpdate [CT]: This is your very last weekend to pick up the L$100 Dazzle goodness. If you’ve been procrastinating or waiting for a paycheck or something else — shop now or forever regret it later.

On Saturday night, I happened to be online around 10:30 SLT. Roslin was trying to find DAZZLE. But somehow the sim was missing from search and our landmarks weren’t working. It having been a horribly buggy week, we assumed it was a fluke. Instead, it was precognition. At 10:40 Ginny Talamasca made the following announcement to her group members:

Dazzle has been a lot of fun. But it’s time to move on to a new endeavor. I have an incredible new sim in the works and a line of clothing for men and women. I am also developing a line of accessories for men AND women with Lyra. We’re so so so excited – we’re really working hard to create a design vision and aesthetic. We’ll be doing seasonal shop changes. A themed sim. Dark, sexy, flirty and daring. I adore you all and I wanted you to know first.

She also announced that everything in the store would be on sale for L$100 starting at 11 PM SLT. Her blog was updated within minutes of the announcement, displaying a heartfelt letter, which revealled that DAZZLE was being put to rest, but Ginny and company are reawakening.

Roslin and I hit the store just after 11 and found ourselves elbow to elbow with anxious bargain hunters snapping up wedding gowns and capri jeans with a fury usually reserved for a Walmart post-Thanksgivings Day sale.

When an designer decides to reinvent herself, it is an exciting, yet frightening time. We love her for what she has done up until now. We feel like we know her by what she has given us. We’re terrified that we won’t like the next thing. We don’t want to be disappointed, because we’ve fallen in love. We’ve built a relationship. We want things to remain as they are.

But everything you fear, the designer fears even more. Inspite of such fears, these metamorphoses are a requirement. She simply cannot stagnate. Stagnation means death. Design is a process and processes must move. Though we may love what a designer has given us in the past, we have no idea how much more we may love what she is doing tomorrow.

So, in the next ten days as you swallow up DAZZLE bargains, do so with joy. Don’t panic when the sim is full. Don’t worry that you’re missing out when you can’t get in. Just remember that the designer is living and breathing and continuing to evolve.

Her next great thing may be much greater than all of the work you regard so dearly right now.

New Naughty Jewelry

0

Braclets4copySeveral new jewelry pieces were released today by Ambyance and Lost of Naughty Designs. I was immediately attracted to the Turquoise Multiple Bracelets and I bought the piece to model for you. However, I pretty much destroyed it trying to stretch for my larger wrist. Simple stretching should be an easy task, but for me it is like taking the SAT’s while reading the questions upside down and in a mirror. I screw it up. Often. Suffice it to say that these are nice accessories that can easily get folded into a different looks, casual or dressy.

Mischief for your head

1

Mischief_1Yesterday I blogged about Mischief for your body. Now, today let’s take a look at some Mischief for your noggin. I’m talking about, of course, Aleri Darkes’ brand new hairstyle — now in 48 fun handcrafted textures. Aleri has been working hard on new textures for her hair and also for her new store build in Dacham. But the ideas for new designs have been piling up in her notebook and today she posted another brand new design — a great looking shortie style named Posh on her blog just this morning. Go have a look at the new store — and her two new hair designs.

Raise your Karma

0

Chanel_karma1I’m such a sucker for DoC Eldritch’s phenomenal Chanel design line. Karma is the latest release in that line: chic, sexy but still grown up and sophisticated. Karma consists of a corset top with layered lace on the jacket layer, a “plain” corset top on the shirt layer, and pants on the pant layer and the underwear layer — which is sooo thoughtful when you really want to wear a pair of slim prim boots with the pants.

New at Sensual Designs

1

Snapshot_002_6Saposepack3A few days ago Sensual Casanova released Jazmeen, a cute cropped top and pant set. I loved the way she put this outfit together. The tone-on-tone shading here is really great, and I am in love with the non-saturated pink she’s used on the cuffs and collars of the top. But check out the drop shadows on the belt and the subtle way the painted on belt has been shaded to add depth and realism to something that’s just painted on and flat. Awesome.

The second thing that drew me back to Le Cadre for a shopping spree was a new collection of animations that Sensual’s assembled. You can buy these posts ala-carte for L$35 each, or pick up the whole pack for L$525. (I bought the whole pack, ’cause I shop at Costco way too frequently — that’s why I have 12 pounds of nutmeg in my pantry, but I digress…) These are really smooth animations — they transition from one to the other really smoothly, and as Sensual writes on her blog they do look good in an AO — because that’s where I stashed a few of them!

A couple brilliant short looks by Gurl6

0

Glamour2Diamond2One of the things that’s infectously fun about Six Kennedy is how excited — and creatively inspired — she can get by new clothes, shoes, builds, whatever it is that catches her fancy and fires up her imagination.

So I figured it was only a matter of time before the brand new hair textures she’s made (new favorite: Golden Brown! So yummy!) combined with stimuli like the Dazzle sale (closing September 30!) would result in a crop of gorgeous new short hair styles. I like the shorter styles because I find them especially flattering on my avie, but also because I respect just how difficult they can be to construct well. The longer cylinders, tori and the like can hide some “sins” of design and construction, but in a short style, there’s a whole lotta bald head to cover up and not a lot of ways to sling those prims around and make it look stylish, chic and super.

But in this case, Six has achieved all of those adjectives and more. Glamour hasn’t been off my avatar’s head since I got it — oh sure, I’ve worn different shades of it — but I’m not quite ready to let another hair dethrone it just yet.

Silent Sparrow’s House of Leaves

0

Attachment There is nothing basic about this black number. Another beautiful release at Silent Sparrow. It is an Asian-inspired set with a gorgeous brocade texture. I love the structured shoulder and the prim cuffs. The empire waist is another lovely touch. But the loveliest element is the tear-drop shaped leaf cut out on the back and upper sleeve. Such lovely details.
I can easily imagine that jacket paired with a long, satin ball gown skirt. Divine.
