Sneak peek: Skins by Crushed

I was lucky enough to get an advance look at the new line of skins by Lo Jacobs and Ginny Talamasca with the Crushed brand name. The Crushed skins will come in 10 different skin tones and a few different “carpet” options. All told there will be pretty close to 1,000 different skins from which to pick and choose when you combine tone, makeup and “hair” options.
The way Lo and Ginny have split up the work is that Lo’s been focusing on the body components, skin tones, and shading while Ginny’s been creating the makeup looks. It’s a really powerful combination of talent, as I think the two photos to the left prove.
Pictured left is “Fast Car,” the chromed out shimmer makeup in the luminous Angel skin tone. Brimstone combines glossy nude lipsticks with 8 different gorgeous shimmery eye makeups - everything from super smudgy smoke shadow straight off a catwalk to “Go To Hell” a smouldering crimson look. Favorites in this series include “Black,” “Cigar,” and “Fast Car.” The other makeup series is named “Secret Agent,” and it features lipsticks in red hues with 8 glamorous, complimentary eye makeup combinations. My favorites from this set include “Delilah,” “Nina,” and “Jinxie.” The Secret Agent skins all have a fun and distinctive beauty mark.
Shading wise, Crushed skins are 100% hand drawn, so they tend to have a “soft focus” sort of feel to them than more photorealistic skins — but at the same time, there is enough careful attention to the really important details (well, for my tastes): cleavage, nose shading, ears and shoulder blades that you will look stunning in just about anything.
I was trying to get a old Hollywood look for these photos, because the Paper Couture gown just really lends itself to that kind of style, but I couldn’t decide which hair I liked better, or which background I liked better. In the top photo, I’m standing in Sanctum Sanctorum’s basement club and wearing Goddess II hair by Elika Tiramisu. In the bottom photo, I’m in front of Six Kennedy’s brand new GuRLyWood sign, wearing her Betrayal. Jewelry is Suddenly Simone by Asri Falcone (in onyx).
I am really looking forward to seeing some of the third makeup line that Ginny’s working on: Fashion Icons — all of the classic names will be represented in what will no doubt be fabulous homages to the leading lights of style.
Sorry to tease you all — but you have some warning now to save those Lindens and prepare to try on a LOT of beautiful demos once Lo and Ginny release these!
