New Designer: Emma Gilmour
By Celebrity Trollop | August 29, 2006
A few days ago I had a set of IMs from a new designer who wanted me to come take a look at her designs and I was impressed! Shown left is Emma Gilmour’s Garconne dress design.
Emma has designed most everything in the outfit: the shoes, the jewelry, the hat, everything except the hair, skin and tattoos. And she’s pretty new at all of this. She’s only been designing in Second Life for six weeks or so. Emma has a lot of different styles, most of them cute, casual looks — layered looks, skirt sets, and of course cocktail length dresses like Garconne. It’s not flawless work — there are some problems with seam alignment sometimes and occassionally, a texture here or there can be a touch blurry, and the tone-on-tone shading is something Emma is still learning to master — so if you’re an absolute stickler for technical perfection in your SL clothes, you might not be completely satisfied.
For my own tastes, construction excellence is important, but not THE most important thing, so I do like and recommend Emma’s designs. Aside from Garconne, some favorites include super cute denim casual outfit “Ocean Drive” and the boho chic skirt set “Kensington Street.”
Emma’s in the process of looking for a larger plot of land because she’s nearly out of prims on her current parcel, so I didn’t put a SLurl to her store. But if you search for “Emma Gilmour” and then look at her Picks, you’ll get to the right place.

Wow, thank you guys for doing a write-up on Emma. I remember meeting her in one of the sandboxes many weeks ago. She invited me to her store and, personally, I was very impressed, mainly because of the fact that she was very new in-world, as was I too. She also does some wonderful men’s swimwear and shirts if you’re looking for that sort of thing.
