More iki
By Celebrity Trollop | August 14, 2006
Nephilaine Protagonist has a blog that has long sat dormant. No more — she’s written two posts in several days — with more to come, I hope. Nephi and her design partner Torrid Midnight (who also has written about Iki in her blog) have released several new pieces in the casual wear collection over the past couple of days and also unveiled the store location in Plush Gamma earlier today.
Torrid and Nephi both provide a lot of insight into the origin of the line (and its name), how they work together on new creations, and why the DoCoMo 2.0 teaser remained a teaser (at least for a little while.) The pieces are exactly what the brand tagline promises: unadulterated, uncomplicated, unpretentious. The clothes are all of these things, but they are also amazingly well constructed technically, from the baked in texture highlights to the seam alignment and all the wonderful — but simple — details that pull the entire collection into a cohesive whole.
