Sleek and sexy motorcycle fashion

2

Snapshot_003_2Snapshot_004_3I’m not talking about big rumbly motorcycles either, but sleek, fast sport bike imports. OK, technically the bottom outfit from Alter Ego isn’t intended to be a motorcycle outfit, but it doesn’t lose a step cast in that role. Last week, Willow at PXP posted about Nicky Ree’s two new lines of catsuits (among other new things) — and I had to have them because she makes some of the best catsuits in all of Second Life. When I saw them in the store (and later, on Willow) I was looking forward to shooting a few pictures of them myself and writing it up here.

But then I was thinking about other recent outfits in my inventory that fit in with the same theme and right away, Avery Webb’s Alter Ego store came to mind. Avery has designed clingy catsuit like fashions for both men and women at her store. This outfit, “Escape” is the newest creation (Kala Bijoux is a fan too!) she’s unveiled.

Finally, since I was going for “motorcycle,” I needed the perfect pair of motorcycle boots. I really like Fallingwater’s, but I didn’t really want embossed flowers for this outfit — I needed something a little more edgy — and I found it at Jeepers Creepers. Another Willow find from PXP, Trashville boots stuck in my head. These are fantastic boots — I will definitely be wearing them with a lot of other clothes. They come in several different detail configurations — chains, grommets, plain, etc.

Talyn Barrett’s Heart Silk

1

Snapshot_001_3See? Another day, another silk — I am reluctantly starting to enjoy them. When I tried this on for the first time, I was talking to Astrid Ophelia (of Ophelia Boutique) and just sort of fooling around — telling her how much I disliked silks. Well, pretty soon I found a total look that I really loved — loved it so much I’m posting it here for everyone to see. Talyn sent me the silk in purple, but I know it comes in a lot of other brilliant saturated jewel tones — so if purple isn’t your hue, she probably has one that is more pleasing to your own tastes.

Like most of Talyn’s prim clothes (skirts or silks) she’s added a little surprise — if you (or someone else) clicks on your prim skirt attachment, they’ll get a dialogue box with allows them to select an action (like ‘rip off’ — but YOU the wearer can permit/deny that action if you want — it isn’t like someone’s going to ‘pants you’ in the middle of a serious forum on politics, although I do wonder (somewhat idly and tongue firmly in cheek) about Governor Warner’s position on Gorean roleplay) for a fun flirt of naughtiness. Check it out at Analise Clothing.

Preview: Down Undies’ retro bikinis

0

Snapshot_006_2Snapshot_010_2J.W. Russell runs Down Undies, a lingerie and swimwear store in Plush Beta. He sent me a few of his newest retro bikini sets as a preview of things to come. Each retro ‘kini comes with three different bottom piece cuts: rio, targa and thong. (Rio being my favorite). This collection is apparently based on a vintage set owned by JW’s RL girlfriend. I totally love the simple, stylish design, the contrast color piping detail and the steel ring hardware on the bottoms. (The tops have a clasp back.) In addition to brown (shown top) and black (shown bottom), the swimwear will be available in at least four other colors. J.W. thinks they’ll be ready for release at his store in about two weeks give or take a few days. So be on the look out for some great retro bikini style, coming soon from Down Undies.

Sneak preview: Wild daisy lingerie

Snapshot_0011It’s been quiet around Naughty Designs lately — too quiet, actually. What you might not realize is that both Lost Thereian and Ambyance2 Anubis have been super busy — making new things to fill up Naughty Island — the new Naughty Designs shopping sim.

One of the things that Amby has been finishing is a whole array of new yummy lingerie, including the super sexy Wild Daisy bra and panty set. Shown in pink, it also is available in two other colors (currently). But there’s more new Naughty lingerie on the way — new corsets, for example, and two other brand new bra and panty sets, all with the incredible styling and attention to detail for which Amby is known.

There are lots more goodies in store for all of us once Naughty Island opens, so that day can’t come soon enough!

Joy

Snapshot_003_1Some content creators are doing mighty work to drag me kicking and screaming into enjoying silks as a fashion. sachi Vixen is definitely among them (so are Ginny Talamasca, Talyn Barrett and Sherona DeGroot — eeeevil, all of them, I tell you! :D ) — and as I admitted to her, sometimes you put something on in world and it looks way better than you imagined it might just from looking at an ad. So this is an example of that — I saw the ad, shrugged, and forgot about it. But then experimentally, sachi sent me one to try on — coax me, really. (Haha) And once it was on, I thought, “Wow, this really looks good!”

So sad to admit that I’m behind the curve sometimes, but that’s the truth. sachi released these Joy silks about two weeks ago. I am really especially liking the gold/black lace combination pictured.

I also have an ulterior motive here — and that is that silks really show off the features of a given skin in some ways that swimwear won’t, and I was so enthused about the Tete a Pied II shading that I really wanted to show it off in a flattering way. I think this photo accomplishes that goal.

Tami McCoy is having a sale on every hair in her store:

As a thank you to all the wonderful people who have been such a great support to me and my designs…I am going to mark all hair down $L100 from $L350 to $L250. So this starts today. So come on over and bring anyone you think might be interested in saving some Linden :) I just wanted to say thanks and let everyone know how much I appreciate all your support these past almost TWO years. Wow. Just amazing to me. I am so truly blessed.

Tami told me the sale will probably run through September — definitely a few weeks at least. (Takes time to reset all those vendors, huh? :D ) Shop Hair Styles by Tami in Milu. She just released “Hippy Gurl”, a long straight parted look with optional bangs.

New Designer: Emma Gilmour

1

Snapshot_001_2A few days ago I had a set of IMs from a new designer who wanted me to come take a look at her designs and I was impressed! Shown left is Emma Gilmour’s Garconne dress design.

Emma has designed most everything in the outfit: the shoes, the jewelry, the hat, everything except the hair, skin and tattoos. And she’s pretty new at all of this. She’s only been designing in Second Life for six weeks or so. Emma has a lot of different styles, most of them cute, casual looks — layered looks, skirt sets, and of course cocktail length dresses like Garconne. It’s not flawless work — there are some problems with seam alignment sometimes and occassionally, a texture here or there can be a touch blurry, and the tone-on-tone shading is something Emma is still learning to master — so if you’re an absolute stickler for technical perfection in your SL clothes, you might not be completely satisfied.

For my own tastes, construction excellence is important, but not THE most important thing, so I do like and recommend Emma’s designs. Aside from Garconne, some favorites include super cute denim casual outfit “Ocean Drive” and the boho chic skirt set “Kensington Street.”

Emma’s in the process of looking for a larger plot of land because she’s nearly out of prims on her current parcel, so I didn’t put a SLurl to her store. But if you search for “Emma Gilmour” and then look at her Picks, you’ll get to the right place.

New at Little Rebel Designs

0

114272_1114274_1Two great new outfits from Little Rebel Designs. First up is the newest sibling in Jonquille’s line of corset dresses. A while ago, Willow featured several other Little Rebel corset dresses at PXP — but I am totally into this one. Skellys — check, intricate beads — check, yummy satiny corset — check. It’s a fashion trifecta. Can’t wait to get my hands on one of them.

Next up is this gorgeous pant set in a totally scrumptous creamy pumpkin orange. The jacket that Jonquille’s added to this outfit makes the color pop right out at you. Plus — the jacket just looks great, and I’m sure it would mix-n-match with lots and lots of other tops. Shop for it over at Little Rebel Designs in Gallinas.

I’ve decided to stop holding comments for approval.

The main purpose behind holding them for approval was to prevent comment spam — this is where an automated tool leaves bogus comments with random text snippets linking to an unrelated 3rd party page. The goal of comment spamming is to raise “relevance” of the linked page in search engines.

Now comments just require an email address and a CAPTCHA which should accomplish the same goal and encourage (I hope) more comments and commenters.

Thanks for reading!

Lots new at Liquid Velvet Studios

WintersgemIsabellapinkIt’s been a while since I checked in with Ravenlynn Templar — and wow — she’s been putting together some great new items. The top ad shows Ravenlynn’s brand new super detailed gown, Winter’s Gem (the green version). It also comes in blue and red. It’s a sumptuous nearly over-the-top Miss Second Life pageant looking gown — but if you really like couture drama — and you like to answer vapid questions with vapid answers:

Q. Miss Trollop, representing Pi sim, what would you do to save the orphans of Second Life?
A. I like puppies!

This is totally the gown for you. Hey, it’s going into MY inventory! Maybe someone will have a Miss Second Life beauty pageant. You never know. And I really do like it — it’s got (Eurovision) DIVA stenciled all over it.

Another new release is the Isabella outfit: a line of cowled sweaters in lots of colors paired up with LVS take on the classic denim skirt. These sets include lots of back-to-the-80s accessories including yep, the iconic leg warmers. It’s enough to make me want to weld things while trying to dance my way to my dreams.

If my luck holds, the Miss Second Life pageant will feature a soundtrack of all 80s one-hit-wonders. She’s a maniac, maniac on the floor…

Crushed lingerie

0

Snapshot_002_4Another fabulous design team, Lo Jacobs and Ginny Talamasca released several sets of lingerie over the weekend. Willow wrote about Dazzle’s releases, but I didn’t see anyone pick up Lo’s — so I had to go take a look at her new goodies.

And goodies, indeed. When I think about Luxe brand overall, I tend to think “sweet, stylish, and feminine.” It’s always fun to see a designer “play against her style” (or at least my impression of Lo’s design style), and we get that in spades from this set — I think Ginny has been a naughty but totally fun influence (I’m thinking wicked-fairy-godmother here. Hehe) on her new partner.

One RL trend that has been cropping up in fashion glossies for fall are long gloves, so it’s cool to see Lo add them as a little extra in a lingerie set — puts a hint of mystery into the ensemble.

September, or why plaid is hot couture

1

Snapshot_0021_1Nyte Caligari and Sol Columbia teamed up to put together one of the most remarkable casual outfits I’ve seen in Second Life for a while. It’s a little bit southwestern, has a lot of rich browns, all framing several beautiful plaid combinations. The flexi skirt on this outfit is so perfect — Nyte Caligari is a master of the prim skirt, and the details she’s packed on the painted on belt — big southwestern style silver conchos is just a perfect little nuance which spins this outfit up a notch. I had a sneak preview of Sol’s riding boots — they go great with skinny jeans too — but they look fabulous here. When I first took pictures for this post, I asked Nyte if she’d consider recoloring this outfit in black, which would allow her and Sol use brighter, warmer colors (reds and oranges? Yes, please!) She seemed intrigued by the idea, so I can only hope that we might see more from this designing duo.
