Scheherezade Padparadscha Silk

By Celebrity Trollop | June 12, 2006

ScheherezadepadparadschaI have an uneasy relationship with silks in Second Life, an ambivalence which stems from the Second Life cultural meme of “a woman in a silk equals a (man’s) slave.” That’s just not an assumption I want the average Second Life resident to make — and that’s the crux of my unease wearing them on the grid. It’s not that I disapprove, per se, of D/s relationships or the Gor setting, even, just that I personally don’t have any particular desire in RL or SL to be seen as someone else’s property. When I last wrote about another Dazzle silk (Ginny’s first), I received a thoughtful email from Sparkle Skye which pointed out how self-affirming the sensualness of the silk can be — a line of thought she covers in her blog here. It’s a fair point — and to be completely brutally truthful, when Ginny showed this to me I had to pick myself up off the floor.

It’s always easy to see when a given designer has really dedicated herself to a particular creation and this special edition is very special indeed. So my ambivalence about silks remains, but I can faithfully say that I have no ambivalence about this specific silk. It’s just absolutely stunning. And if you have a special SL someone, I’m fairly confident he’ll agree with my opinion. Find it at Dazzle in Innamoramento.
