Who’s that girl? Why it’s Iris the Roundup Girl from LindenLifestyles, helping HeatherDawn wrangle this bull of a blog. And have I picked a strange note to start myself off on?
Reserve your judgement. This is an incredibly atypical dress for a woman to wear. That’s right, it’s not meant for children. This is a japanese style subculture known as “Elegant Gothic Lolita”; and it’s in SL.
While many will respond negatively to the word Lolita, this is a fashion scene that thrives in Japan’s Harajuku district, and it’s known for its lacy trim and morbid colour schemes, decking girls out like turn of the century porcelain dolls. Yuriko Muromachi, who is a relatively new designer, has added three “Elegant Gothic Lolita” style dresses to her store that is otherwise full of lush historical costumes. With enchanting frills and ribbon trim, this is a fairly standard step into the EGL world that I just could not resist highlighting. I’ve got a weak spot for the grab bag that is Japanese fashion.
Yuriko admits that the dresses are designed for a shorter, more asian shape, but told me that if the dresses are popular enough, she’ll be working on some with skirt prim proportions set for the stubborn tall avs. The “Elegant Gothic Lolita” dress is available in black, white, and wine at Silver Rose Designs in Caledon.
