Accessorize in Pink, Plus!

Relay for Life 2006 is a runaway train– In a good way. It’s shattered all expectations, and the Great Forum Blackout of ‘06 couldn’t mask the light of these products for long! From Digital Dragon Designs, a pair of pink flip-flops (white are also available) Oh ho hum just flip flops? Not even close. Take a closer look at that picture. The flip-flop straps have little awareness ribbon texture detailing. So tiny, so tasty, they’re absolutely adorable. Also available from DDD are a set of pink ribbon tattoos that are so sweet and simple, and come with a variety of tattoo positions. Pick all these items up at Digital Dragon Designs in Keundot.

Another Relay For Life release are the cancer awareness jewelry sets by Charlene Trudeau of SkyBeam Architecture. These feature ribbon colouring for many kinds of cancer, not just breast cancer as selected by the Pixels in Pink team. While I fully support Pixels in Pink, I often feel remorse at the support offered to Breast Cancer in charity events, compared to other equally important kinds of cancer. More info about Charlene’s line can be found in her forum post.

  1. I’ve noticed a few comments lately about how “it’s not all about pink”. My team decided to focus on support in the fight against breast cancer for our own personal reasons. This doesn’t mean that we don’t support the fight against cancer in all of it’s forms, otherwise our proceeds would not be going to the American Cancer Society.

Many others have followed in our footsteps, creating items where proceeds benefit the Relay For Life in SL. This doesn’t mean they are doing exactly as we are. Everyone is supporting RFL for their own reasons. I do hope that my team’s decision does not cause resentment as we take this very seriously.

I encourage people to start their own teams or join one. If someone would like to bring awareness to a particular form of cancer or focus on cancer in general then go for it! It’s unfortunate that cancer comes in so many forms and it impacts all of our lives. The more support the better.

  2. I didn’t mean to put a bad tone on that, I was just generalizing about cancer fundraising. I’m sorry if there was any confusion there. ^^; After all, the proceeds from PiP still go to ACS as a whole, and that’s all that really matters. I would never fault the team for picking Breast Cancer as their focus, I just meant that it was good to seem someone branching out from the unofficial PiP outer-team Torrid’s team has developed.
