Nakama-rama!!

3

Nakama_residential_1_2 Well it’s safe to say that my time on this blog has unveiled my nerdier tendencies, but in spite of that, hear me out about the Nakama sim at least once (because I will be gushing about it for quite awhile). I was fortunate enough to get invited in for a sneak peak at the Nakama sim, and I’ll say this: while the sime has an asian/anime theme in its four sectors, even if you aren’t an anime fan, take the time to explore this extensive build. There were amazing little surprises around every corner, and it is one of the best builds I have seen so far.
But why post this here? Builds are great, but you can’t wear them. Have you wondered what Nephilaine Protagonist has been up to? Well since this is her partner Neil’s build, she’s been working hard herself (along with a team of other gifted individuals like Launa Fauna and Torrid Midnight, and a slew of others) and has designed many stunning items of clothing specifically for sale in Nakama. Skins and clothes in a line-art and cellshading style uniquely theirs are available for purchase. The skins are those that can be seen in Nephilaine’s ads for Citoyenne and the Citoyenne Bodice, as a matter of fact. There are kimonos and cheongsam style dresses of course, but also a series of cute dresses and tops you don’t have to be into the asian scene to appreciate. Look for other Nakama exclusive products tucked around the corners of Nakama, including new work from Panache! The Nakama sim is set to open tomorrow, July 1st, so don’t miss a single prim of it.

Updated: A few vacation snaps

Dsc01060Dsc01097Update: I’m just about ready to leave for the Santa Fe Opera’s opening night gala where we will be treated with a performance of Carmen! Double wooty-woot.

I wanted to write more about these pictures. The first one is a sunset in Mesilla, New Mexico, which is across the Rio Grande from Las Cruces. The trees are pecan trees which grow everywhere down in that part of the state.

The second picture is from Abiquiu, New Mexico. I took it behind Georgia O’Keeffe’s Ghost Ranch — making it plain to see why her New Mexican paintings have such a vivid color palette. Ghost Ranch is about 75 minutes from Santa Fe.

I’m just about to eat dinner in Taos, New Mexico, but here are two of my best photos from the past five days. Having tons of fun, and I still have four days to go!

Thanks to HeatherDawn and Iris! You girls rock my world!

Dazzling Delights

0

Celebrity_flexi_update_1Willow Zander said it best when she said it’s impossible to mention every Dazzle update without turning your site into the “Daily Dazzle”, but this release is certainly a good thing to mention here of all places.
Once upon a time, a royal seamstress named Ginny released a gown called Celebrity, named after the queen herself, and its fabulous silky sheen and lace detailing made it one of the most popular dresses with all the princesses of the land. But along came flexi-prims, and the enchanted gown became lost in a glut of new, flowing dresses. But Ginny had not forgotten her beloved creation, nor had the public, and Ginny released a version of Celebrity, flexified for the modern princess.
You can buy Celebrity with the flexiness, or just get the flexi-update seperately for $5L. Direct all ponies and pumpkin carriages towards Dazzle in Innamoramento.

Canimal, you animal!

0

Miao2Of all of Canimal’s fetish skins, the Miao makeups are my favourite. There’s something very neo-retro about the sassy lip colours with the catseye liner style, and they are made with the the same TLC ( in this case, Tender Loving Canimal) as all her skins. Well today the punk-funk goddess herself released 4 new makeups for Miao, in a set named appropriately enough, Miao 2. These skins are high on the details and are a must have– made-up but not overly so. Grab Miao 2 in a pack or seperately in Celestial City.

Casual Excess by Miriel Enfield

0

Casualexcess_pack I caught a glimpse of this choker quite a while back (okay, a few weeks) and have been waiting ever since for Miriel to release this pretty primmery. Change the colours, the materials, and even quickly turn off all scripts to tone down lag when you strut into Torrid’s Think Pink Party on Saturday. Find this item and more at Miriel’s in Nusambaruku.

All-natural Nylon wigs

It’s getting harder and harder to find a fashion maven who doesn’t own at least one product from the Deimos Boardwalk or its illustrious businesses. Toast Bard’s hair has a cult following, and can be seen in at least one ad a week. The next big thing to hit Deimos is definitely Nylon Pinkney’s unique prim hair, which she’s been wearing for awhile but has never been available to the public. Well Nylon gave in and put these beauties out on the market a couple days ago, and I’m AMAZED. I’ll say it again, AMAZED. I was skeptical at first because this hair, unlike most prim hair, is made of flat prims, 2D images built into 3D, similar to the trees and bushes you may see around. So, tentatively, I bought one. Before the end of the night I had the whole set. You will not find anything else that comes even close to these styles anywhere else on the grid, and if you can, I’ll eat my black cherry Clompies.
Find this hair at Nylon Outfitters in Midnight City or Deimos Boardwalk.

Rflearrings_1 Jewelry is abundant is Second Life. Well made jewelry, however, can be a little harder to come by. Well made jewelry that benefits a great cause? Starley Thereian is behind this glitzy guilt-free glam, new to the Relay For Life shop in Celestial City. These ribbon earrings are absolute perfection in prims, and are some of the most realistic looking earrings I’ve come across. $150L is a BARGAIN for these beauties.
Also released today for the Relay for Life campaign were Sezmra Svarog’s special editions of her short, innocent hairstyle, Studious. Pick up the package for a pittance, $200L at Nora.

June Under the Radar in June

0

Picture_2_1 June Dion is an amazing designer from Japan, who owns a massive fantasy emporium that has everything from anime-inspired costumes to darling sundresses to body harnesses, with a club built into the core. There’s a special place in my heart for June, who gave me my first job in SL related to fashion, as she actively hires newbies to be greeters and gussies them up for free with a few of her outfits. She also has absolutely gorgeous designs for men an women that cost milk money. SERIOUSLY. Sometimes, the outfit as a whole may not suit you, but these littles boxes almost always contain complete outfits with at least one part that will woo you. Unfortunately, June doesn’t post her weekly updates on he forums. So I figured I’d share a couple of the new items she has that… Well… They’re a little tame, really, but she runs the gamut, trust me. The picture at the top is Black Oneppi, a very cute little dress that sells for a paltry $135L. That gets you the tops, the flexi skirt, the flexi ribbon, and a matching choker.
Picture_1_2 The second I’ll speak of is Tokio 2069. Gothy punk with asian brocade work, it’s so delicious I can barely stand it. And… It’s only $95L.

PLEASE, if you haven’t already, go to BareRose’s headquarters! Take the time for he place to rez, and pore over the walls of clothing. Goth is one of the most covered styles, but there are MANY more options– even a very charming pair of overalls! Tattoos, undies, swimsuits… Really. Go. You’ll never get more out of $1000L than you will at BareRose– and feel happy with every single purchase! I’ll even be your personal shopper there and show you around.

Gutterpunks– Gutterglam!

0

Gutter I have a HUGE grudge against running shoes in Second Life. Crosstrainers, sneakers, Chucks, Converses, whatever. Designers I would go to the ends of the earth for have released sneakers that just… well… Made me wrinkle my nose, turn around, and Men-In-Black my own memories of the last minute away. Brooklyn Davis of Parallax View, however, caught my eye with Gutterpunks. Gutterpunks… look good. They look VERY GOOD. And the pattern names aren’t generic, which is one of my favourite parts about shopping at stores like Dazzle. Pink? Meh. Dogrose. YES. ONE THOUSAND TIMES YES. Now, dogrose isn’t very gutteresque. Cherries and Gum, however… You just might be on to something, Brooklyn! Pick up a pair at Parallax View in Versu Richelieu.

Celestial City Spotlight

0

Redhead_charmed_30_carrot_green_1_3 Reader’s of Celestial Studios’ Starley Thereian’s blog will know that near the end of May, Starley was soliciting redheads and friends of redheads for tips on how they like to wear their makeup, for a special mini-line of redhead-specific skins. Well, after being slightly delayed by her tremendous work with the Pixels in Pink team, Starley released the highly anticipated redhead skins. I say mini-line because they aren’t offered in her full skin-tone range. More info at Starley’s blog.

Canimal Zephyr, whose home store neighbours Starley’s, also release a kicky and sweet denim dress with a flexi skirt that is beyond fun to romp around in. Dare is another Canimal creation that transcends the cute and punk lines with it’s versatility. Visit Celestial Studios and Canimal in Celestial City.
