Update: DoC’s done with his new creation — this is the final ad for Ephemera (top) which DoC posted today, along with a new outfit in his Chanel line: Essence (lower picture). Here’s a link for the whole entry on Ephemera, start to finish — all 10 hours of PhotoShop time and 175 yummy layers of shading and detail. Great job, DoC. I hope other designers with blogs do something similar too.
So sorry I didn’t get to post this sooner — I’ve been so busy RL this weekend. Anyway, DoC Eldritch posted this intriguing note yesterday:
I have wanted to do this for a while now. Actually let you guys see an outfit being created from its start to finish. Along with giving some Photoshop stats of it as well and also talk about the creating of it. I thought it might be interesting to some. I have made a special spot on my site called “Creation”, so check if often to see updates of it. It might take me a few days or maybe a week, all depends really. So let’s see this thing come alive…….(I hope).I am doing this in the highest detail I have ever tried to do…so this is a 1st for me as well as a 1st (as far as I know) letting you guys watch….so lets hope I can pull this off.
He’s finished the choker, the top and the gloves… and now he’s working on the undies and the bottom pieces. It’s really quite an interesting glimpse into a process most of us non-designers never get much insight into. We right click on “Buy” and that’s it. We only see the finished product, not the genesis from idea to implementation to finished product ready for sale.
I hope DoC covers the “after” pieces too, like creating the ads for the outfit and so forth — because I love DoC’s ads — always so atmospheric.
Direct link to DoC’s website here. Do take a look — this definitely worth a few minutes of your reading time.
