Unmentionables mentioned

By Celebrity Trollop | May 29, 2006

Let’s talk lingerie now. Yeah, it’s another round up post — sorry — there’s just been too much new stuff posted to keep up in individual posts. Below the fold: LapGirl’s superb art deco Retro Polka, the super classy, haute chic of Bonita and Bella by Liquid Velvet Studios, feminine mystique defined: Intimé by Dazzle, flirty fun Bedroom Barbie by “S”, and shiny sexy Rebel Red by FooRoo.

PolkaWhen Shep Korvin sent me a preview copy of Retro Polka I couldn’t tell you how excited I was to unpack that box and parade around in my skivvies — on the grid even, not just in my secret underground lair. (Incidentally, the last time I wrote about LapGirls I whined that Shep’s lucky chair never let me win — well, here’s an update: I finally got my teal lingerie pack from that dang chair! It only took me like 13 visits! :D) I had suggested to Shep that he take a look at one of my favorite real world lingerie stores (Trashy Lingerie — not cheap, but most of their stuff is custom designed, 100% hand made — and seriously gorgeous) for inspiration. Retro Polka is the result — and boy oh boy did he make my weekend. The pattern itself is fun and sexy — art deco dots punctuate the design’s bodice and the sheer skirt, plus there’s all of the wonderful detail that Shep packs into every release: the perfect metal garter stays, the front clasp work, the very subtly bouncy flexi-prim front bow, the lace bands of the stockings — all marvelous.

As if that weren’t enough, Shep and his secret LapGirl commando squad are running a contest where you can win a preview copy of Shep’s new “desert” camo patterned bikini/chap set. Shop LapGirl in November.

BonitagowngiftsetpinkBella_forsaken_giftset_blackA stunning chic two-fer from Ravenlynn Templar in her new Forsaken line. She’s put out some incredible lingerie in the past week. I already wrote about Essence a beautiful satiny chemise. Now here’s two more jaw droppers. The top ad is for the ultra chic Bonita (shown in pink, but available in black, blue, green and yellow). Bonita is piled with antique lace, satin and sheer panels in all the most interesting places. Although I was blown away by the lingerie set itself, I was a tiny bit disappointed with the gown bottom (on the jacket layer) — the highlights are just a little bit off kilter compared with the highlights of the fabulous corset top — but this is perfectly forgivable because the unmentionables themselves are so marvelous. Its joined by sibling Bella (shown in black, but available in silver, pink, white, blue, and yellow) which I briefly mentioned in my initial flexiprim roundup. But once I had it on, I loved it so much I wanted to make sure it wasn’t overlooked in all the flexi madness that’s gripped the new products forums. You’ll find Bella and Bonita at Liquid Velvet Studios in Yulmu on the fourth floor of the store.

IntimeperiwinkleMy fashion crack dealer™ has done it again: Intimé (not a reference to punctuality, the name is French for, um, “close friend” — very close friend. :D) I love how Ginny’s unified the look of this set using the same pattern in the very subtle brocading of the silk, the lace scallops on the bra, the lace of the prim gown, and the lacy garter tops. The details here are incredible — for example, Ginny uses steel rings in a lot of her designs in novel ways. Here, they’re used to connect the garter straps to the belt which lends a little something of an edgy feel to this otherwise super feminine creation. This wonderful set comes in eight colors, including periwinkle shown. Find everything Dazzle at Innamoramento.

BedroombarbieblackFun and flirty, I couldn’t help but show off Bedroom Barbie by Simone Stern and Sherona DeGroot. I put it on Saturday night and I just fell in love with the whole look from the naughty sheer panels — everywhere someone might want to sneak a peek, to the flower accents on the empire waistline satin ribbon to the playful bows on the included color coordinated prim shoes. This set combined sugar and spice in one super nummy combination. (Sabrina also wrote about Bedroom Barbie at Linden Lifestyles.) You can find this combo in several different colors on the isle of Simone.

Rebel_redI suppose technically this isn’t lingerie. It’s just a super shiny, nicely highlighted latex rubber top. OK — well, in my book that’s something I probably wouldn’t wear outside my virtual bedroom (or dungeon, you know, whatever) and that makes it lingerie to me. It’s not flexi — so maybe that makes it boring in some people’s eyes, but I really liked the shading and the sheen, and I think the design is simple but when it comes to latex — there’s really no need to be cutesy. The very act of wearing an outfit like this says enough about the wearer all by itself. Rebel Red can be found at FooRoo in Milyang.
