Hair — and clothes?? — Yes! New at ETD

The multi-talented Elika Tiramisu released four new hairstyles Saturday night, but the big news — the one which made a lot of people react “What? Really??” when I told them was that Elika’s also released several tops, a set of bikinis, jeans (in several different washes) and a most incredible suit “Pristine” (which I’ve pictured left.)
Let’s start with the new hair first. I chose “Patootie” to highlight. It definitely takes the award for “Most Instantly Adorable.” Elika writes:
Patootie: LOL I love that name. I really couldn’t think of anything else. These piggies were so cute, but I couldn’t use cutsie or cutie…sounds the same, cause it was already taken….so patootie sounded cute enough. I knew exactly what I wanted when I made this style. It was supposed to be puffy curly piggies but not like afropuffs. I love it.
Me too. This is one of those styles where you feel justified splurging on the Willow Pack. It’s just that much fun to wear around. I also really like Elika (which is apparently Elika’s typist’s exact real life hairstyle. I love when the virtual reflects the real and vice versa. :D) I also splurged on the Willow Pack for Vivacious. It’s just such an interesting look. Last night I was wearing it with “Willow” by Simone and the Pristine suit. It looks fabulous with both.
Now, on to clothing! Yes, clothes. At ETD. Yep. Incredibly well constructed clothes at that. I was so impressed by the work in Pristine — the wrinkles, shading, and the crease lines. Check out the tone-on-tone shading. (Elika told me IMs last night: wow, that was hard!) Super difficult to execute well, and Elika’s done it brilliantly. She wrote earlier today:
I have to give many many many props to all the fashion designers out there. Yes it’s easy to slap some paint on a template, upload it, and call it a shirt…..but to perfect it, to line up the seams, to add the shading and details…..well that’s a BITCH!!! I probably literally spent about 10k in uploads alone. Doing things over, realigning the seams…even completely starting over on occasion.
Making clothes in Second Life — excellent clothing with superb attention to detail — is incredibly difficult. That’s why I’m always in fangirl awe of designers like Nyte Calligari, Janie Marlowe, Ginny Talamasca, and Nephilaine Protagonist who make it seem so effortless and look so excellent on my avatar. Until you walk a mile is someone’s shoes, it’s hard to understand that.
