Flexiprim hair picks

By Celebrity Trollop | May 29, 2006

Here are my three favorite flexiprim hair releases, so far, in no particular order: Elika Tiramisu’s Farfalla, Six Kennedy’s Celebrity (oh, you just knew I’d pick that one, didn’t ya?), and Sherona DeGroot’s Swooshie. Click for photos and commentary.

FarfallaI am still a little surprised that this style even exists — I know how much Elika dislikes making hair with shapes other than tori — but she’s so nailed the flexihair with the shapes that are available. One of the reasons is how “realistic” the hair moves. Elika wrote:

I didn’t want to overload the flexi as real life hair doesn’t flow that much with the wind or when we walk. So, I tried to be as subtle as possible while making it obvious that the hair was flexible.

When I saw the preview photos for Farfalla on Elika’s blog, I knew this would look fantastic on virtually any female avatar, and when I finally got my hands on the Willow pack my initial assessment proved oh so correct. As if the flexiprims weren’t enough, Elika added the cutest little butterfly hair pin as a wonderful dainty accent. It’s strange, but true: I’ve worn this hair with outfits from haute couture gowns to (ok, sorta girly) punk clothes and it still mesmerizes me every time my avatar moves. Farfalle and a second flexi style - a super cute pony appropriately named “Smooth” is available now at Couture Isle.

Celebrity_hair_adI am so flattered that Six named this hair after me — I love how her short hair looks on my avatar — Milan is an especially good looking hair style for me, so I asked (ok, begged) Six to make some more short hairstyles in the fashion of Milan — and this is what she did. I don’t know where the inspiration for this came from, but I love it and I would love it even if it didn’t have my name attached to it. A little flexi goes a long way in my opinion, and the subtle bounce and wave that the flexis lend this style are fabulous. On her blog, Six writes:
I think were all getting a little better at it and the flexi hairs will be improving as we all get use to working with the new prims… I will be trying to incorporate the new flexi feature in any style that it works in, but I am not going to be forcing them in where it just doesnt make any sense.

I think that’s exactly right — every content creator is starting to figure out the right way and the right physics to make their flexiprim additions say something about the creation — not just throw them in because they’re new and Teh KewL!1!! Celebrity comes in 14 yummy textures (my favorites are blackcherry and creamy blonde) and you can get it at Gurl 6 warehouse on Euphoria Island.

P.S. Doesn’t Six’s new skin in the ad make her resemble Torrid Midnight? I think it’s uncanny!

Swooshie_001I don’t have an ad texture for the fun “Swooshie” hair by Sherona DeGroot, so you’ll just have to suffer with a photo I took of my avatar modelling it (and Shep Korvin’s new art-deco inspired release at LapGirl — more on that soon, dear reader!) Swooshie was one of the first flexihairs I saw in Second Life — I saw Zarah Dawn modelling it when I stopped by Simone to take a look at her velvet top flexi-mini outfit. Due to the elegant twist in the back, this style really works best with outfits which are a bit more classy and upscale. But I love the physics on this flexihair too — they’re slightly more bouncier than Elika’s and so it tends to be more sensitive to wind movement. I found this a tiny bit disconcerting at first — your avatar is standing motionless and her hair is just subtly swaying, but now it’s just very very cool. Swooshie comes in a raft of different textures (I’m wearing “bashful blonde” in this photo) and it can be purchased at the isle of Simone.

  2. Hi Stella,

Milan was created by Six Kennedy. I’m not sure what you mean by “use it” though. How do you want to use it? As your real hairstyle? :)
