Comfy “Real World” Jeans at OPIUM Everyday

JeansfullI recently had the pleasure to meet Alaska Metropolitan in person and she slipped me a pair of these cute, comfy everyday jeans a few days before she posted them on the forums — but beyond the fact that I love all of the realistic hand drawn detail here — right down to the embellished “O” pattern on the back pocket, these are medium waist jeans. I know! Jeans in Second Life that I might actually wear to my mom’s virtual house (if she had one…) These jeans come in the three different washes shown: dark, true blue (Alaska calls that one “original”) and faded. Alaska was one of the designers I had in mind when I read Hamlet Au’s recent article (my response here) about the Second Life fashion market’s apparent preference for “slutty clothes.” Alaska’s style is definitely not trashy — sexy, certainly, but almost nothing that I’d classify as “slutwear.” These jeans are a good marker of that style to me. That Alaska made these jeans medium waisted as the first release says something about where she finds her design comfort zone. (Here’s another classy but sexy office wear outfit from OPIUM.)
