Second wow: boat neck shirts and fender skirts and crinoline petticoats

I didn’t even realize that there was more Second Cast with Second Style until yesterday when I started up iTunes (that’ll teach me to check my podcast feed once a week!) so I’ve been thinking back to how much fun it was to hear Nephilaine Protagonist talk about the absolutely amazing work she does at Pixel Dolls. (Easy to do when you listen to Neph talk on your commute into your RL job! By the way, Neph, if you open your SL hippie commune, I might just move out there.)
This release from Pixel Dolls was the second “oooh” I experienced this morning looking through the forums. This post has a wonderful ad for Neph’s new dress designs with lyrics (literally) ripped from two Statler Brothers songs on scraps of yellow legal paper.
The seam of the back of her hose, oh do you remember those? and To boat neck shirts and fender skirts and crinoline petticoats comes from the song “Do You Remember These?” off the 1972 album Innerview.
Is Jo Anne still as pretty as when she wore my high school ring? comes from the song “Carry Me Back” off the eponymous album from 1973. (Both available on iTunes Music Store, by the way, if you want to hear 30 second samples from them.)
Well, great Celebrity, you are Google’s mighty master. (Thank you! I try. :D) But what about the dresses? Although crinoline petticoats and fender skirts were way before my time, I certainly can imagine how these three dresses (two of them tintable!) will pull you right along memory lane. Of the trio, I think Frontier is my favorite, if only because of its dramatic open back and the flouncy shape of the skirt. Just the shading there makes me shake my head a little and marvel: Second Life is Nephi’s world, and I’m just wearing her clothes in it.
